Dear Families and Friends
We hope everyone has had a fabulous week. It has been a great week of
planning at HRCS.
Welcome: This week we warmly welcomed three new friends to HRCS.
Levi is in Year 7 and has joined the Cheetah Class. Levi loves drumming, and
this week he has enjoyed “jamming” with staff. We hope that Levi and his
family enjoy their time at HRCS. We are excited to have them join our school
community.
Thank you to Brendan for
drawing our raffle
Tyler is in Year 4 and has joined us from interstate. In a few short days Tyler, who has moved into
Hyena Room, has shown us that he is a whiz at spelling and loves to read. We look forward to
supporting Tyler on his HRCS journey and hope that he and his family enjoy their time with us.
I would like to introduce our new friend Hurley. Hurley joins us from Lochinvar School and is in
Kindergarten. Hurley loves to read, find numbers and one of his favourite things is bubbles! Hurley
has also joined the Hyena Room and we look forward to watching him shine. We would like to warmly
welcome Hurley’s family to our school community and hope that they enjoy their HRCS experience.
Welcome friends!
Class Movement: This week there has been some minor class movement w ithin Primary
School. The wonderful Gazelle Room has moved to the other side of the quadrangle and will now
operate from Room 4. They will still be the Gazelle Class, with the same staff, students and resources.
Carly and the Hyena Room have moved into the Room 9 space, where both Hyena and Mandrill
classes will be working together in an open classroom learning environment for some part of each
day. Thank you to all of the staff for their flexibility and assistance to complete the move in record
time! Happy learning everyone.
PBL Assembly: Our weekly PBL assemblies are a highly valued time of each week, where
we love to recognise and acknowledge the wonderful achievements of our students. This week we
made the decision to live stream the assembly to provide an opportunity for our friends learning
remotely to follow along. We received some very positive feedback, and have decided to continue to
provide coverage of our assembly. From 10:00am each Monday, you will be able to follow our
proceedings via the school Facebook Page. We hope you can join us!
Mother’s Day Stall: We have received amazing donations for our annual Mother ’s Day stall!
This week students who were learning from site, “shopped” at the stall for a gift for the special
woman in their lives. Next week, students who are attending on designated
days will be able to make their purchase for a gold coin donation.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their generosity, and hope that
everybody’s special someone enjoys their gift and day.
Mother’s Day flowers: Students and staff from our Green thumb
Enterprises have done a wonderful job caring for all of our lovely
chrysanthemums. We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support
in purchasing bunches of flowers, we were able to fill 30 orders today! Thank
you to the Cheetah Room for their floristry skills in preparing bunches for our
families and friends! Great work everyone!
Phase 1 Return to School: From Monday, students who have been learning from home, w ill
be provided with the opportunity to return to school for one day of face to face learning. The
timetable for the transition back to school is attached.
Those students who have been attending 5 days per week will still be able to do so, and we would
warmly welcome any student who needs to return to school.
All of the staff are very excited to see our students next week, and are looking forward to
re-establishing the face to face connection. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
contact the school. See you all soon!
Thank You: Today was a bittersweet day as we said thank you and farewell to our friend
Ineke. Ineke, who has been working as classroom teacher of Warthog Room, has been offered the
opportunity to work within the Itinerant Hearing Support Team in the Maitland area. We would like to
sincerely thank Ineke for all her hard work, compassion, professionalism and commitment, and it has
been a pleasure to have her as a member of our team. We are very sorry to see her move on, but
know that her expertise is going to be highly valuable for the young people on her
caseload. Thank you and good luck!
Martin Grey, one of our valued casual teachers, will be working alongside Louise in
Warthog Room for the immediate future. This week Marty and Ineke have had the
opportunity to work together and have had an explicit handover of plans and
information. Welcome Marty! (you can learn a little bit more about Marty from his
class profile in today’s newsletter)
We hope that everyone enjoys their weekend and are able to celebrate the
wonderful women in their lives on Sunday! King Regards - Tracey
