START HERE

Windows 98, 2000, ME,XP

Make sure you are using thecorrect side of the poster.

Windows users: Follow the steps in order. Donot connect the USB cable until instructed to doso.See your box for exact contents and systemrequirements.

Turn on your PC

Windows desktop

Turn your PC on and wait for the Windowsdesktop to appear.

Close any open programs, including virus-checking programs.

Insert the HP PSC software CD.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

When prompted to plug in thedevice (as shown to the left), go tostep 3. Return to your computer instep 9.

Attach the cover

Insert the two bottom tabs of thecover into the slots on the unit.

Tilt the cover down and press firmly.Make sure the tabs lock into placeand the cover is even with thedevice.

Remove output tray and load paper

Use blank white paper toprepare for print alignment.

Connect the power cord and USB cable

Do not connect the USB cableuntil you see the screen in Step2. Do not connect the USB cableto a keyboard or non-poweredhub.

Turn on your HP PSC

Turn power On and wait for displayprompt.Note: See the reference guide foradjusting the display viewing angle.

Insert and align the print cartridges

Make sure to remove anypacking material from inside thedevice.

Remove the bright pink tapefrom the print cartridges. Do nottouch the gold-colored contactsor retape the cartridges.

Lift the print carriage door upuntil it catches. Wait for theprint carriage to move to thecenter. Lift the blue and graylatches.

Hold the black print cartridge with the label ontop as shown. Slide the cartridge into the right(gray latch) side of the print carriage.

Hold the color print cartridge with the label ontop as shown. Slide the cartridge into the left(blue latch) side of the print carriage.

Pull the end of the gray latch towardyou, press down until it stops, and thenrelease. Make sure the latch catchesbelow the bottom tabs. Repeat with theblue latch.

eMake sure both latchesare locked into position.Close the door.

Press Enter on the front panelto begin alignment. After apage prints, alignment iscomplete. Discard or recycle thispage.

Finish software setup

Look at the screen with the greencheckmark, and then continue. If yousee the screen with the red "X", followthe instructions in the Readme.

Install the software

Turn your Macintosh on andwait for your Macintosh tofinish starting up. Insert theHP PSC software CD.

Double-click the HP All-In-One Installer icon on yourdesktop.

Follow the onscreen instructions. Youmay have to restart your Macintoshduring setup. Be sure to complete thesetup assistant.

Check the reference guide forother ways to get started withyour HP PSC. The referenceguide also provides instructionsfor changing the viewing angleon the display.
