It’s a four-step process for solving problems and for gaining enlightenment and seeing deeper truths. And once you’ve learned that process, you can apply it when you’re working with animals. And it is very, very powerful. So I’m really excited to welcome you to class. So now you have the basics. This is an advanced course. So you have the basics. You have some experience of how communicating with animals actually works. Next you’re going to want to practice with a variety of animals and different situations. And get ongoing education to increase your knowledge base and give you more tools for your toolkit. Now is the time to fine-tune your accuracy and to know how to work with animals who are sick, in pain or are dying. And to know how to connect easily with animals who have passed on. And to know how to have successful conversations around training, behavior, performance all those kinds of things. And that’s of course why you’re here. So. Just to give you a little heads up, I realized when I prepared this course and by the way as you know this is my first time to teach all of this advanced material all together like this . I have worked to pack as much advanced training into this retreat as possible. And I think I have to admit I may have overdone it a bit. (laughs) I always want my courses to be highly interactive. I want to give you very high value for your time and your investment to be here. And I also want to give you time to process and practice in the group. And take advantage of the group and the group support. And my mentoring and coaching. And I also want to give you what you most need and want to know. Val: Welcome everybody to the advanced animal communication class one. And it’s all about improving your accuracy, your skills, and your confidence. As you breathe, draw your awareness into this moment. Exhaling, allow your awareness to flow effortlessly into the next moment. As you inhale, stabilize and focus your awareness into this moment. Exhaling, feel the flow of your being unfolding, moving, and continuously expressing itself through the medium of time and space. Standing in the present, step now into the future and leave the past irretrievably behind you. And as you move, feel yourself emanating and moving forward through space and time. Imagine that as you move, you trace a pathway of light and energy through the fabric of space and time. And imagine that if you turned around, you could actually see this luminous path like a firefly in the night. Now imagine the path you have traced through the world today, during the past week and the last month. Sense the patterns and the cycles and the rhythms of your comings and your goings. Imagine arising and retracing your steps as you moved around the house. And as you drove to work or to school. Or to run errands. And as you dropped into your favorite stores or visited friends or went for walks or bike rides. See yourself as a continuum of light energy patterns unfolding through space and time. And imagine the pattern of your continuum unfolding since you were born. Even try to imagine the energy patterns of the body that you were in before this one. And the one before that. And the one before that. Going back and back. Feel yourself as a dynamic process expressing and unfolding itself and revealing itself through space and time. Imagine the tons of universe that have sustained you and that you have burned as air and water and food during your life. Your lives. Journey. Imagine moments of being in love. Experiences of profound joy. And of anger. Feel how your energy pervades space and affects the people around you. And how you affect and touch the lives of animals around you. See how a simple apple is a continuum. It is a fusion of sunlight, of water, of Earth, of air and the trees and the apples that came before it. And the bees. Imagine the kindness and work of the many people and creatures who have caused you to finally have this apple. Where does the apple energy begin? Or end? And likewise, where does your field of energy begin or end? Imagine your friends and companions. See them now as merely a perceptual snapshot of a continuum of being. See the forest, the flowers, objects as simply a process. Trace the cotton in your blouse back to its organic roots in the Earth. Trace the metal in your jewelry back to its organic roots in Mother Earth. See everything as interwoven pathways of light and energy unfolding through space and time. People, planets, galaxies, atomic clouds of energy whirling – unfolding – beginning endlessly and endlessly through time and through space. Thoughts. Dreams. Fantasies and memories – all the play and processes of your own mind. Your own being. Your own continuum. Exhaling – imagine releasing some old grudge or limitation, perceived lack or fear.

Inhaling – receive new strengths and new wisdom and new energy. Use your cycles of breath to let go of old, limiting postures, attitudes and emotions that have kept you from moving freely through life. And with each breath, receive inspiration to nurture those qualities you wish to strengthen. Life is made of moments. What ripens in any moment are seeds sown in the past. And in this moment we can consciously sow seeds for happiness and for health in the future. Breathe your awareness into this moment. And as you exhale, allow your continuum to unfold with peace, with balance and with joy. Now welcome back. When I say, welcome back this time – there is more of you present I’m guessing. So we do have a lot to cover today. I want to get into our topics. But first, I would really love us to take just a few minutes to do a round of introductions so that we know who our fellow players are – who are fellow beings and continuums are. And how we all converged to come to this place and time. So I am Val Heart. My dog is Einstein. We also have fish. (laughs) And we have an honorary kitty member named Lucy Lou. So she shares me and Einstein with another family down the street. So what I’d like to hear from each of you is your name. First name is fine. If you’d rather not give your last – that’s fine too. I wrote it down as the name and then I thought, “Ooh – is that the name? Or is that what it is? It’s a kitten.” Okay the kitten named Kitten. Okay. Claire: Right. Val: (laughs) Okay, Claire. Awesome. Barb: So we’re good. Val: Awesome. Thank you so much everybody. All right. Thank you! Now we know who we’re playing with. Yay! So let’s get started. The first thing I want to give you is some insider secrets about animal communication that can take you deeper and faster and start improving your accuracy. Right? Let me give you a little backstory on my own self. And my own journey. My continuum. When I started doing this – in the beginning – I wasn’t very sure of myself. I didn’t have a lot of experience. In fact, I’d never even heard of animal communication. It was an entirely new beginning for me. I didn’t have anyone to teach me. It just started happening for me. So I was really kind of working blind. (laughs) So to speak. Just exploring it as it revealed itself. My big gift revealed. So I was brand new to everything. I didn’t know even a fraction of what you know now. However, I being a type A personality and a perfectionist, I expected a whole lot out of myself. And so anytime I worked with a client and didn’t feel that I was absolutely 100 percent accurate – all the time, every single thing and if I couldn’t resolve whatever the problem was – then I actually refused payment from the client. So those are the standards I held myself to. And what I would do is I would either offer to reschedule and try again later or I would just quit in despair and frustration and go away upset thinking that “Oh I just can’t do this. I can’t do this at all.” So one time – I had a client who had ferrets. She had cats, birds and a dog. And they were not getting along well. She was really worried that somebody was going to get hurt. And so she brought me in to do a group conversation – which is one of the things you’re going to be learning in this retreat. How to work with groups. So I communicated with all of the animals. And there were a bunch of them. We discussed the situation. I asked them all for their cooperation. I suggested some things to do to help ensure that everyone could adhere to the new house rules. I answered their concerns, their fears, their frustrations, and their needs. We talked about how did they feel. I followed the seven-step process as I taught to you Thursday night. I did all of that. And because this was a very serious situation in which lives were at stake, I was personally really desperate to solve everything in that one session. And so I worked long and I worked hard. And I wound up exhausted. I left there feeling like my battery meter was redlining. And the bad news is that I was so certain that I must’ve missed something – I just knew that somehow I must’ve missed something – I hadn’t gotten everything from all the animals. Everything that they wanted to tell me. And I knew that there was more to learn. I just knew that there was some more. And so I left my client’s house very upset. I refused payment. Even though the client insisted. And actually begged to pay me for the work. She pointed out all the amazing things I had discovered and how the animals had responded and that she could already see a difference in their behavior.

And so even though I made a difference – because I had these extremely high expectations of myself that were rather delusional (laughs) and impossible -. Which is why I’m telling you this story – because if you resonate with it at all let’s bust it now. So but I did. I quit. And I said, “Let me reschedule. Let’s come back because I know I missed something. I just know there is something I missed. I don’t know what it is but I just can’t take payment until I’ve solved everything.” And so I rescheduled. And by the time I talked to her again – like the next week – she told me that the energy in the house had completely changed. And that the problems she had been having were mostly gone. And that everybody was getting along. And the rules that we set down were being enforced and not just by her but the animals were adhering to them as we had discussed. And she was delighted. So. Ah. What’s very interesting – and what I want to point out – is that because I put myself through such a wringer that I almost quit working during that time. In fact, I did. I took a three-month sabbatical to reconsider what I was doing wrong and to try to fix myself so I could be even better. Because I never wanted another client to be disappointed. And I never wanted to feel like I was disappointing anybody. And I finally realized – after a great deal of work and getting some counseling and some help – that I was the only one that was disappointed. And I was disappointed in myself because I was comparing myself to an imaginary perfect communicator. My ideal of that. And so in retrospect – knowing what I know now – I did a really fantastic job. I did a really credible job. In one session, I made a huge difference for not just one animal and one person but for an entire community of animals and all different kinds of animals. So it was my ego driven need to solve all their problems in one session and to be the hero and not miss anything and understand each and every being in totality that was driving me nuts. And I finally understood that it wasn’t my job to fix everyone’s problem. My job was to show up, to connect, to listen, to learn, to be taught and let them teach me, to ask questions – to really, really connect and love the beings I was working with. And to treat them with respect and compassion. To allow myself to be guided – asking for the best, highest possible results for all concerned. And then to surrender it into God’s hands or the universe. Surrender it. And trust that what’s needed would be given. Imagine how many people and animals would have missed out – that I wouldn’t have been here or available to help – because I was in effect having a huge pity party because I perceived myself as an imperfect and as a failure. Please don’t make that same mistake. There are people and animals out there that only you will be invited to assist. You will be able to help them work through their issues and to discover deeper heart connections. And to be the mediator between species. And to help improve the quality of their lives through your love, your compassion, your gifts, your passion and your skills at whatever level they are.

There is always more to learn. We don’t even know ourselves in 100 percent totality. How could we ever possibly know anyone else at a 100 percent? We get what we get. And we bless it. And we ask for the best. When I started – I was pretty accurate a lot of the time. And I wasn’t accurate at other times. And that’s – guess what – that’s really normal. As I kept practicing and as I developed my skills I got better and better. So there is always going to be something you’re going to miss. Expect it. Deal with it. It’s simply not possible to be perfect at this. Or to be a hundred percent accurate every single time. The best psychics in the world – who have been tested and who are professionals and who study and make this their life’s work – they intensively work on this everyday. They’re only about eighty percent accurate. Also remember that eighty five percent of all communication is non-verbal. Body language, energy, feelings and intentions and our subconscious – account for a full eighty five percent of all communication. So some of the things that I did to improve my accuracy rate. I trained in controlled remote viewing. And by the way, if you’re interested in that that is where you train yourself – this is a highly respected field. Very, very fascinating field. It’s where you can actually in effect go out of body. And go to a specific location or place in time and space and view it. So you can go back or forward in time. The government has a group of people that do this. This is actually where – I learned from one of these people. Pat Buchanan’s group. David Morehouse is also renowned in this. They have books. Pat’s work is much more rigorous and methodical. It’s very systematic. And David Morehouse is a little more loosey goosey. (laughs) It depends on which one you feel drawn to. But you can google for controlled remote viewing. Check out books and if you feel so inclined – get training. It’s awesome work. It’s very fascinating. I also learned kinesiology. Also known as muscle testing. I started working on that in the eighties. And through rigorous training and certification in the BodyTalk system – all the way through the Parama level college work which I’m also certified in – my accuracy rates improved dramatically. So kinesiology is also called muscle testing. It can be difficult to learn how to be accurate with it. I don’t teach it. It takes a good bit of work to learn. The technique is very sensitive to your own beliefs and attitude. And so it can be skewed and go off in wrong directions if the practitioner isn’t really good at it. The BodyTalk system teaches it in such a way that you have to go deeper and become much more subtle with reading energy and body frequencies. So if anyone is interested in learning BodyTalk, I highly recommend it. Look for the International BodyTalk Association for more information. Okay, so just to recap. The first tip here. Your job is as a mediator primarily. You’re a facilitator. Work to understand both the human and the animal viewpoints – and that includes your own viewpoints.

And your own animals’ viewpoints. You need to know what their needs and wants are and to acknowledge them. And to validate them. Discuss what’s not working and find out what kind of pain they’re actually in – whether it’s emotional, mental, psychic, spiritual or physical. So that you can know and understand what their actual experience is. The second thing is to offer acceptance. Be a willing listener. A dedicated, focused listener. So they can share their heart with you and feel safe when they do that. Animals often have important messages to tell use. So listen carefully. And in the human speaking – emotions and thinking – because much is revealed in how they talk to you. Sometimes you’ll need to redirect the human thinking or your own thinking to better understand the animal viewpoint because we are humans and not animals. And I always tell my clients – because they are the beings that they are and we are human – sometimes we’ll never truly understand them. Because we don’t have their instinct. We don’t have their genetics. We don’t have their senses at that level. But we can always keep asking questions until we can understand it to the best of our ability. So sometimes you’re going to be working to help the animal better understand their human’s viewpoint. And sometimes you’re going to be helping the human better understand the animal’s viewpoint. And again, I’m talking about this sort of like you’re working with a client – which some of you may do. Which I’m very excited about. But if you’re the human then you’re the human. So it’s best to understand your own viewpoint as well as your animal’s. All right. The third tip. Start playing with different types of situations. So if you’re working with areas that you feel most comfortable on – start with that. And then build on it. Don’t try to take on situations that you don’t feel qualified to handle without first expressing and telling the person how you feel about it. It’s okay to do that. Say “I’ve never worked with this before. I’m willing to do my best. I’ll go ahead if it’s okay with you and I’ll tell you what I get.” And that’s perfectly acceptable. The fourth tip is to remember to have fun. Be willing to be surprised by what the animals tell you. Be willing to make an honest mistake in order to learn from it. What can seem to be a mistake often when you drill down deeper – like on the surface it doesn’t seem to match up. But if you drill down deeper and keep asking questions and you stay engaged, then you will find that there may be truth there that you simply hadn’t understood before. And it will provide a wonderful opportunity for you to grow as well as your animal. So. All right. There is also something I call an escape clause. All right. The escape clause. I love this. This kind of saved my practice. (laughs) So when I first started – as I shared – I had really high expectations of myself. And so I created a guarantee. If I didn’t feel that I was able to connect and communicate accurately, then I wouldn’t charge them. I do not guarantee to be able to solve their problems.

That is not something that anyone can guarantee. So just to remind you – as a really important point – it’s great to make mistakes. Welcome them. Learn from them. Let them guide you to what you didn’t know yet. Don’t let them discourage you. Mistakes are necessary to our learning process and our journey. We learn more from our mistakes than we learn from our successes. So the process of learning – and this goes for our animals too – is about trying something. Succeeding or failing. Trying again. Learning more. More successes. Maybe a near miss. Maybe a failure. But then learning to distinguish when it feels right and when it’s accurate and when it’s not. How many degrees off are you? That’s also a really good gauge to measure because you might just be a slight degree off versus being on a completely different planet degree off. So when you start recognizing the nuances of that – you’ll learn to self-correct while still staying present in the moment. So. Remember also to review the seven steps of the heart of the conversation with animals blueprint to keep yourself on track and stay focused. And come back. And know where to go next. So please – love your mistakes. They’re really your best teachers. Okay. So. Let’s move on. Let’s talk about games. It’s one of my favorite things. I’m a big game player. Animals love games too. And so do you if you’ll allow yourself. So these are games. They are not tests. They’re not quizzes. No one’s going to be testing you right now. So they’re just games. They’re games to train your senses and develop your intuition. The idea is to enhance your skills and to help you become more sensitive to and to reading energy and frequencies. So here’s a few different ideas. And I always I have to laugh. I came up with the name of “Feel Your Marbles” game. I hope that doesn’t offend anyone. I thought it was funny. (laughs) The idea is to get marbles of the same shape and size. And to put them in a bag. And by the way – it needs to be an opaque bag. Not one you can see through. And what you do is you put them in there. And they’re going to be different colors and different types. Some will have the swirly things in them and some will be solid colors. And that’s fine. Put all of them in the bag. And then – when you’re ready – you put your hand in the bag. You take one marble – whichever one comes into your hand or palm – and hold the marble but don’t take your hand out of the bag yet. So you’re holding the marble. You’ve chosen the one. Feel it. Feel and sense what color it is. Let yourself know it. Let it pop up for you. Explore it. Just feel it. Really be with it. You may have a gut knowing. Remember your signature styles? Okay? Signature styles are whether you’re clairsentinet, clairaudient, and clairvoyant. However it comes to you. Let it come to you. And then – when you think you’ve got it – pull your hand out of the bag and look at it. Revealed. And then check yourself. Was I right? Did I get it? Oop – you know I thought it had blue in it. I thought it was blue but it’s actually a swirly thing. But it has blue in the swirl. So I’m going to count that as a win. (laughs) And that’s okay.

But if it was orange and you got blue – then you didn’t get it. (laughs) Put it back in the bag. And try it again later. Okay. So you can use different types of things in the bag. So you can do marbles. You could do candy as long as the candy is the same shape but different flavors perhaps. Or different colors. M & M’s would be okay. They say that they don’t melt in your hand. (laughs) You may test that and see if that’s true or not. You could do like lifesavers or anything like that. And one fun thing – if you like candy – is that if you win you get to eat it. (laughs) If you don’t, you put it back. You can also use crayons. You could do pens. Whatever you want to play with. The idea is to allow the energy resonance to share itself with you. For you to be neutral and to allow yourself to know. To read that energy. Okay. So. For women, one of the games I like to play – I actually have two colors of lipstick in my purse – and I put my hand in my purse. I do not look. I find them. And then I take one – or I intention that I want one that’s this color. One is more pink. And one is more orange. Okay. So if I want a pinker one, then I’m feeling for the pink one. I will choose one. Hold it. Pull it out and then test myself. Did I get the one I was looking for? And so that’s a great game. You can do nail polish as long the bottles are in the same shape. Just try to choose the color you want without looking. Or grab one and see if you can tell what color it is. So that’s a great game. Now. Here is one more game I want to give to you. And it’s the gift box game. I used to teach an advanced workshop on an ongoing basis. And one of the games that we played – is I actually collected a whole bunch of little interesting fun little gifts. I wrapped them up just like gifts with bows and wrapping and stuffing and everything. And then I mailed them to each of my students. And their job was to hold the gift aside until our class that week. And then I had them do an exercise in class. And it was really, really cool. It was so much fun. So what you can do is ask a friend to wrap an item in a gift box and give it to you without telling you what it is. Your job is to take the gift and to feel it and sense it – almost like you were the kid trying to figure out what was in the box under the Christmas tree if you got to play that game. All right. So you hold the box. You sense it. You send your energy in. You can do some intuitive scanning on it – which you will learn I believe in the next class. So just send your frequency in there. Feel it. See if you can get a sense of shape, color, density. Check to see if you can tell the material it’s made of. How big is it? Any other impressions? Does it come from the ocean? Is it from the sky? Is it from the Earth? Is it man-made? Any other resonance you can feel with it. Write all that down. Then open the gift. Open the box. And see what it is and compare it with your notes. See what you got right and what you missed. Okay. So that’s great. With a bit of training, dolphins can do this reliably. You can too. All right. You have the gift. Okay. So let’s keep going. So it’s a great game.

I want you to set all of them up. Unless you’re a man and don’t want to do lipstick. (laughs) Or nail polish. So try them on an ongoing basis. Just have them handy and every once in awhile when you feel like it – play it. Play the game. See how you do. I think what you’ll find is in the beginning it’s going to be a hit and miss. And then as you keep playing, you’re going to find yourself getting more and more accurate. I rarely make a mistake anymore. Rarely. Very rarely. Still do. Occasionally. But very rarely. So I expect that for you too. Okay. Let’s talk about the game of trusting your body. Make your own body a pendulum. I call it the lean in or push back or lean back technique. It’s really important. You can use this with animals and in every other area of your life. It’s one of the easiest ways to get inner guidance or answers from your animal. Simple answers. Maybe from God, from spirit or even your own superconscious self. Or from your innate, intuitive intelligence. Your own awareness. So the very first thing to do – when you have a question and need guidance – here’s what to do. And by the way, on the handout – I forgot to put the very first step – so I’m going to ask you to write that in. It says – the title of the slide on the handout I believe – it is “Trust Your Body’s Wisdom. The lean in technique.” The number one thing and important thing to do – ready to write it down? Find neutral, center and ground. So to do this correctly – find neutral, center and ground. And if you’re sitting – what that might look like is having your feet on floor, your body upright and balanced and find your neutral center point where you are balanced. If you’re standing – same thing. Stand so that you’re in balance. If you close your eyes – you’re simply in balance. It doesn’t take any effort or energy. You’re not leaning forward. You’re not leaning back. You’re simply effortlessly standing upright to the best of your ability. From that place, hold your question. Consider your question. You can write it down if you want. Or you could just imagine writing it and holding it up to your superconscious at the point between your eyebrows which is also considered the third eye. Your – ah let’s see – It’s your sixth chakra. Thank you. There at the eyebrows. Right between the eyebrows. You hold that question up to that point. You consider the question for a moment. Feel whatever you need to feel about it. Next you hold the question in front of your heart. As your intuition develops – you will sense an answer. If your energy leans forward into the question – it means it’s a yes. It means you’re meant to go in that direction. It means the body/mind or your guidance is saying more of that please. Go that way. If your energy leans back or pushes away from it – then the answer is no. Not now. It’s disharmonious to you. Or something else is blocking you that needs to be sorted out first. If you feel completely neutral – then that’s also an answer. It could mean you need to wait for more information.

Or that you didn’t frame the question properly so your body could answer it clearly with a yes or no answer. So you could try reframing the question and trying again. If you want to do something but are nervous or afraid about it – choose to have the courage to not let fear stop you. So listen to your heart’s guidance and follow that. Trust that all will work out the way it’s supposed to. Okay? So I want to play a little game with you. And to get you started. This is actually going to be part of your assignment as well. So we’re going to practice a lean in game. It can be fun. Okay. So what we’re going to do is have the speaker – in this case I’m going to be the speaker. But when you do the assignment with each other – when you find a partner to play with – then you’re going to do this. And the speaker – think of it as a true/false game. Okay? The speaker is going to tell the truth and then they might tell a lie or a falsehood. Or something -–a story. I don’t want you to go into a long, drawn out story but like a lie. The listener – you’re doing lean in. And you’re listening to your body/mind and you’re determining which is which. So is it a lie? Or is it the truth? And the first thing to start with is your name. You could also do where they live. And many other questions. So whatever your imagination can do for you. Just have fun. The listener’s job is to notice the resonance behind the words. And by the way – the speaker can do that as well because you will also feel your energy change when you tell the truth or when you tell a lie. Notice the resonance – the energy – behind the words. Notice the spoken language and the delivery. And what I think you will find is that lies slide off like water to a duck’s back. They’re mostly on the surface. They can be an illusion or a distraction. They’re not very deep. (laughs) They’re surface. Truth – when you hear the truth it resonates deeply. It rings true. It comes from the heart. I will tell you that accomplished liars are more difficult to read because they really work at making it sound deep and at mimicking the resonance of truth. So when you practice, you’ll begin to notice when things are on and when they’re not. And the importance of this game is that when you are picking up an impression from an animal – or what you think is from the animal – as you develop this sense – your spidey sense – you’ll be able to tell when you’re on and when you’re off. Okay? So it’s as easy as that. All right. So take a pen and paper. And I’m going to be the speaker. Your job is to find your center. It’s a little different version on the lean in game. So find your center. Be balanced. And I’m going to say some statements here. And your job is to determine whether they feel accurate or not. Ready? My name is Val Heart. Does that feel true or false? You have to understand how this works. How animals reflect their people. And if it’s yours – how it’s reflecting you. And if it’s somebody else’s – how it reflects them. So it’s really critical to know this. Animals reflect back to us our own imbalances – our stress, our dysfunctions – which can drive us crazy. Then we think that it’s all the animal’s fault because they’re doing all this bad stuff or whatever they’re showing up with or acting out. When all they’re really doing is mirroring what they see in us and acting as a teacher and a guide for our own soul and life lessons. The thought behind this is “Here let me show you what you look like when you’re acting like this or when you’re believing that. Or when you’re in need of healing or feeling wounded. Let me act it out for you so that you can see yourself more clearly.” And it’s a true gift. Remember that animals – like children – are greatly affected by us. We’re their caregivers. What we do, say, think, decide or feel – rocks their world or it can anchor it. So the better balanced you are, the less stressed they’re going to be. What may be seem to be a problem with them may actually be an issue stemming from their humans or their family network. Animals are spiritual teachers.

They are barometers of our souls. So when we’re talking about the human animal body/mind connection – it’s a deeper assessment of the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual connections between humans and their animals. Your animal knows you better than almost any other being on the planet. The reason for that is that they can see what’s in your mind’s eye and they feel what you are feeling. And they get closer to your heart than anyone else because they can get under your defense mechanism. After all, where else do you get unconditional love? Where else can you just let your hair down and be your authentic, true self? You know? When we live in denial or we suppress our authentic self – or our emotional wounds are deeply buried beneath the surface of our subconscious mind or in our body – we actually store those in our body. Then the world around us will mirror those things back to us so we can see what we’re carrying around hoping that we will then take action to heal them. Or to change them. You are designed to heal quickly and easily. In fact, our survival as a species depends on our ability to heal quickly and easily. So when you don’t get past things – like trauma, shock, injury or whatever has happened to you – it means that you’re stuck. You’re carrying that with you. It’s an actively resonant energy in your field. It’s not just a passive memory in your library – your continuum library. You’re dragging that forward. Right? There is something about it that is not at peace. You’re dissociated or you’ve disconnected from yourself in some way from that wounded aspect. So when you have trouble getting past things like trauma, shock, injuries, pain, abuse – it means you’re simply stuck in the drama of the trauma. You disassociated or tried to bury it inside yourself. And the problem with that is that it makes our animals feel uncomfortable and unstable. And then they try to help us heal and reconnect us by showing us that missing part that got disconnected. So when you recognize that pattern – be grateful. Offer appreciation because it truly is a gift. And it’s bringing it to your conscious awareness because you have the power to heal it. And by the way it does not come up for you – usually – unless it’s needed. You need to heal this. It’s important that you heal this. The universe doesn’t want you carry this any longer. It’s causing damage. It’s causing degeneration. So it gives you that opportunity. So it also won’t show it to you usually unless you have the resources or the help available to assist you. Okay? Now let’s talk about the consciousness of animals. Because we’re talking about consciousness. To understand that better – let’s explore first what consciousness is and what it actually means and why it’s important. So most people when you ask them – what do you think consciousness is? They’ll tell you “I think it’s the awareness of one’s self and one’s thoughts. Maybe. And how we all fit together.” And yeah, that’s right. That’s close. That is consciousness but I want to go a little deeper than that.

Dr. John Veltheim – the founder of the BodyTalk system, which is a state of the art health care modality by the way – says all there is is consciousness. Manifestation is consciousness in appearance. The difference between a dead body and a live one is consciousness, which is the animating principle in action. The animating energy. The consciousness is both the animated principle as well as the stuff of the atoms of the body/mind. It includes our perceptions, our values, our principles, the energy of our beliefs, our attitudes, and our expectations about ourself and about others. All life in our world is consciousness which is held in the energic form and patterns that cause us to experience life in these ways. So your beliefs – both conscious and unconscious. And remember that your conscious mind is between five and ten percent if we’re lucky of our what we think with. Typically it’s more like five percent. So ninety percent or more of our total being is largely unconscious. It’s our totality of our consciousness that we have – that we’ve lost direct access to. The conscious little mind to the big consciousness. The higher consciousness. I hope this helps make sense. It’s our beliefs that determines our life experiences – that are held in the consciousness. They are magnetic. They are designed to manifest. Remember the Law of Attraction. So if you hold a belief long enough and give it enough energy – it becomes magnetic and it begins to manifest. So how you can recognize your wounds are your beliefs or to know what you actually think at a deep, unconscious level is by noticing what’s showing up and is reflected for you in your life. This is also true for animals. So know that you project onto your animal companions what you’re feeling and what you believe. They make marvelous objects for projections because they’re usually silent. And they don’t have the English language so they can’t protest loudly in a way that you hear them usually. I know you’ve heard the phrase “self fulfilling prophecy”. What you believe is what you get or what you create. So if you believe for instance – if you believe that people don’t like you. If you’re holding that thought – then it will likely be your experience of others because you’ve projected it onto them. You’ll have lots of opportunities to validate that belief. (laughs) Because you’ve magnetized them to you. Not because it’s true. It’s just your body/mind is helping you by making it seem true. Okay? If your animal reacts to that and mirrors it for you – then that can look like aggression. Or being upset when others come close to you. Or trying to protect you from others. Or they may even try to show you an opposite belief just to try to help you heal. They may show that everybody likes us. Mom! Don’t you get it? Everybody likes us. Can’t you see this yet? I don’t know why you’re still thinking nobody likes you. Everybody likes us. Look! They try to demonstrate it for you. So if on the other hand you believe that people do like you and that the world is a friendly, safe place – then your experience of others and the world around you will be quite different.

And your animals won’t need to demonstrate as much as that others might hurt you. That they have to protect you. So there is a lot going on there. So just start noticing what shows up around you. There are many views and perspectives on the roles of animals on Earth. Animal mythology, ancient tribal wisdom propose that each animal plays a specific role for humans as they move through their own animal spiritual paths. In some cultures, animals are viewed as teachers, guides, healers, messengers or protectors. And some societies also believe that animals hold the energy for humanity. Animals are conscious, sentient beings. They hold unique consciousness patterns that are influenced by the instinctual and historical trends of their species, their breed genetics and also the individual’s life experience and the group consciousness of their immediate environment in their family group or their soul group. Whales and dolphins – for example – are thought to hold the energies of the ocean. Birds are communicators. They know the news – not just for regions but for the whole world. They’re in touch with other realms and other dimensions around the world in spirit. Isn’t that interesting? There is a book – J. Allen Boone wrote a book called Kinship with All Life. And he talks about that very thing when he started to be able to understand the world around him and the animals. He said – I think he was living in the desert at the time. Maybe Arizona or New Mexico. And he didn’t have any contact with the outside world. And he got all of his news from the birds. And when an outsider came – it was either his experience or a master teacher that he met. He said that – I’m trying to remember. It’s been a long time since I read the book. It’s a wonderful book. It was a fascinating story. And it’s true. But the person – I think it was a master teacher that he met – the person got all his news from the birds. And when J. Allen Boone met him – J. Allen Boone was an investigative journalist and a reporter. And when he met this person and he started asking him, “Well how do you know what’s going on in the world?” The guy, “I hear it. I’m tapped in.” And he said, “How could you possibly?” And the guy started telling him, “Well I know about this that happened and I know about that. And I know about that.” And it’s like the guy was telling J. Allen Boone things that he didn’t even know and he was reading newspapers and magazines. And was plugged in. (laughs) So anyway. All right. So have you ever seen a flock of birds move as one? Or maybe a herd running across the plain? With the birds – they’ll wheel. They fly. They all change shape and form. It’s almost like you’re watching one being, isn’t it? Ah. And then they’ll trade off who is leading. And each one in the flock has a different role. There is aerodynamics going. There is thermal dynamics. There is all kind of stuff. It’s amazing. That’s a very clear example of a group consciousness at work. The consciousness of dogs. And most pack animals is that they greatly desire companionship. They seek to be fully accepted members of their pack or their herd.

That’s their goal. They find fulfillment and happiness in that. Our dogs – especially our more healthy, balanced dogs – can teach us about selfless nature working as a community. And acting within the greater interest for the group, rather than thinking of oneself as separate from those around them. A dog is mostly concerned with protecting physical property and territory which includes their most prized possessions. And of course their number one most prized possession is you. So that means that they’re on the watch for intruders, unauthorized invaders in their space. They’re interested in territory. Physical territory. When we don’t give them very clear guidelines as to who’s welcome, who’s not, who’s in charge, who’s leading – if we don’t tell them how to behave in different situations or prepare properly. Or when we allow them to think that they’re in charge and that they get to make up the rules so it makes sense to them – that’s usually when we get into problems. Okay so that’s very different from the consciousness of cats. Cats are usually concerned with protecting themselves and us and their space from psychic and emotional attack. They are uncomfortable with disharmony of any kind and at any level. And they will reflect that. They have the ability to fully experience fulfillment and bliss in the simple aspects of life. And I think that that has to be one of the greatest gifts to us. They take great pleasure in simply being. They openly accept opportunities for joy. And they offer a fantastic ability to openly accept true joy with no guilt and no self-judgment. When did you ever see a cat that felt guilty for having fun? I don’t think so. (laughs) So if they’re acting out – then we need to ask them if we’re allowing ourselves to be emotionally abused. And if we’re giving away our power by establishing a clear boundary for ourself and for others. If we don’t have enough space – if we have crowded ourself to closely – then they’ll react to that. Consciousness of cats and dogs – very different from horses. Consciousness of horses – they are most concerned with freedom, with power and with survival of the herd. Fight, flight or faint freeze – are their three primary elements of defense and survival. They’re usually forgiving and tolerant of strong emotions as long as the emotion is clear, uncluttered and has a purpose and a direction. They have very long memories for lies. They don’t forgive or forget easily. So respect and trust must be earned before they will follow you. They distrust and greatly reject any hint of dishonesty, incongruence, lack of integrity or confusion. They will challenge you until you address and solve the issue and safety can be reestablished. Many ancient tribal societies also believe that animals carry the illnesses of their owner. And I know today that veterinarians and other animal care providers – which we may have some on the line and of course I do this sort of thing too – we’re all very aware. There is a significant correlation between stressed owners and their sick or distressed animal. Okay? So I remember a client years ago had a dog. She was paralyzed actually from about mid back through her hind end. And she wanted me to work on her dog and so I did. We got some really great improvements.

The dog went from couldn’t feel a thing on her hind end – no control and could not move her tail. Absolutely none. To feeling and being able to wag her tail. And her owner told me that she actually stood up at one point with a little bit of help and she took some steps. So very cool. So we really got some great improvement there. And then her owner – who also had a back problem (big surprise) – she wanted me to do some healing work with her. And so I did. We did some BodyTalk healing. And when we did – the BodyTalk system and her innate body/mind wisdom – drew me to the exact same vertebrae that was damaged in the dog’s back. And that was actually held in the woman. So when we worked on that and helped balance that – the dog didn’t have to reflect that for her so much. The dog had been mirroring it for her owner. Remember that our backs have a lot to do with our support network and how stable we are in our lives and how solid we are. And how balanced we are. And my client had been going through a really rough spell. She was feeling totally unsupported. She was going through a divorce. She was cut off from her friends and family. And so it really wasn’t a surprise that he dog – who loved her very, very much – was sponging that off and reflecting that pain and difficulty into her own body in order to try to help her human. So anytime we’re working with a behavior or health problem, we need to check and see – how is the human involved? For instance, fearful, aggressive problems – often the human is afraid subconsciously. So the animal either acts out their fear or becomes more protective, which of course looks like aggression. Or the animal is in a reaction to the fear, which is a huge trigger instinct for animals by the way. Sometimes humans need – we feel like we need a baby. Or we lost a child. We need a child figure in our life. It gives us a sense of purpose and fulfillment that they didn’t have and aren’t getting in real life. And when we force our animal to play the role of a baby or a child – it really limits how they show up for us. And the totality of the wisdom and brilliance of their whole being and their whole consciousness. So look a little deeper. See if you can discover something that you haven’t been able to make peace with. If you can relate to this. Find what it is you need to work on and when you do – your behavior and your health will usually improve. And your animal’s will too. Okay. All right. And that’s why – bringing us right into Byron Katie’s work. That’s why I wanted to share this part with you. If you don’t know about Byron Katie – she’s amazing. Her work is really very simple. It’s incredibly powerful. I’ve given you handouts. There are three of them. On the student page – be sure to print those off and go through them. They are designed to help you identify and challenge and work with your beliefs. Especially the beliefs that cause you pain that are manifesting what you don’t want in life. So I think I’m going to let you look at that yourself. Go through it for yourself.

Experience how powerful it is. You want to get familiar with the questions and the process. Do it for yourself. So that when you work with an animal that has a belief that they are acting out – you can actually take them through this process so they can heal too. And if the belief is coming from their person – and you might be working with them both to solve this problem and to solve this belief and clear it. So if that’s the case by the way – you want to focus on the person first. Then you refocus on the animal and see if they actually still have an issue or if by clearing their person the animal is now okay. They’re much better. And they’ll be grateful for it too. So. All right. I’m going to give you your assignment and then we’re going to go around and do golden nuggets. And if you have any questions I’ll answer those at that point. So your assignment is to practice with a fellow student. I would love for you to try the lean in/lean out – remember the true/false game. It’s a great game to play with. Let’s see what else? Your partner gives you the feedback of course on what you got. Look for opportunities to improve your accuracy. Okay? Be aware of the body/mind catch 22 and when you find a belief – take it into the Byron Katie’s work. Notice when your issues or wounds are triggered. And be gentle with yourself. It’s all about healing. Use Byron Katie’s work on at least one belief, trauma or experience. And find the deeper truth. Don’t try to trip yourself up by doing it all right. The truth is – you’re already doing it. You’re already right most of the time. Much of the time. You just don’t know exactly how yet. And that’s what we’re doing here. We’re bringing that up to your consciousness so you can be more consciously aware. So approach everything with a sense of wonder, curiosity, playfulness, compassion, interest, discovery. Okay. By the way, what the lean in true/false game – you’re feeling the truth of the communication. You’re feeling when it goes off track or gets funky. You can also your friends, your family, and your colleagues to help you. So just explain the rules of the game. And have a conversation. And call them on it when you think they’re not being truthful. Or they’re lying. And see. See what happens. All right. Okay? Remember you’re working to find the absolute truth. And to feel how it feels when others are evasive. The other thing I’d love for you to do is play at least one of the insider secrets games to train your intuition. So the marbles game, the candy game, the lipstick or nail polish game or the gift box game. You can also do that game with runes if you’d like to play with the runes. Medicine cards. Angel cards. Be creative. Look for opportunities. Okay? Play. All right. So let’s open the lines up for questions and then we’ll finish up with golden nuggets. So how was all this for you? Any questions? That was my golden nugget. Val: Awesome. So tell me more about your golden nugget. What about that really popped for you? What did you (inaudible)? Barb: Well that they enjoy the playing and having fun and not feeling guilty about it. Val: Yep. Barb: And that they – cats in particular protect from emotional and psychic attack. And so that was - oh I get it. And so it’s quite interesting because a lot of times Rummery will sleep on his back with his legs completely spread open and his belly fully exposed. And he loves to have me rub it. So I suspect that there is a little bit of a message there about me opening up. Val: (laughs) I love it. So here is the invitation. Mirror him. So when he’s demonstrating this for you – so you find a place for you to lay and mimic him. So lay with yourself wide open and feel how that feels. Feel what it brings up for you. And work on healing that. Yeah. Cool, huh? Barb: Yeah, very. Val: I love it. All right. So who else has a golden nugget? And thanks Barb. That was awesome. Anyone else? Who? Barb: Dawn. Val: Dawn. Dawn: Okay, I’m up. The ground and center and be fully present. When you said that – I just thought be fully present – whatever. I didn’t realize the grounding was so important. So your body is neutral for the lean in/lean out. Val: Yes. Dawn: That was my golden nugget. I mean just – I didn’t realize that the body does that. Val: Yes. Isn’t that cool?

Dawn: Yes. That was really, really cool. And I didn’t understand because – you always say ground yourself – but I didn’t realize why. The why of it. Val: Thank you! Oh, I’m so glad you brought that out because I didn’t know you didn’t know. (laughs) Dawn: I mean I hear it but like a lot of times I would be sitting in like a Lazy Boy chair so I’m not going to put my feet down. Val: Right. Dawn: And so now I realize why you’re supposed to do that. Val: Well and here’s – the fun thing is once you have anchored in what neutral feels like in your body. So do it the correct way in the beginning so you can really anchor in how it feels. Then you can stay in the Lazy Boy. You could just be wherever you are driving your car or doing something else and do this very quickly and feel your body’s response. But you have to be neutral first. So living from neutrality and being able to feel is really an important exercise. It’s good for our health too. Yeah. Brilliant. Thank you so much for bringing that point out. And it’s such a powerful point. Good. Dawn: Then I have a question on our homework. Val: Okay. Dawn: When we’re doing the lean in/lean out exercise – telling the truth or telling a lie –. I realize it’s a lot easier to just hear the one sentence. But can somebody tell a story? Or is that too complex for us learning this? Val: You know – in the beginning I want you to start with sentences. When you’re feeling like you’re getting it –. Cindy & Karen – and I’m hoping most all of you – got all of the true/false when I did the exercise with you. Dawn: Yeah I did. Val: Good, thank you. So once you’re starting to get the hang of it and you’re feeling – yeah I think I got this – then you could ask them to tell a story. And take it bit by bit and feel when it goes off track or when it gets evasive or when something got skipped. (laughs) Or missed. And flag it. And say, “Okay, I’m not sure but something went off here at this point.” And find out – is it a true story? Is it one they’re just making up on the fly? Seat of their pants? Is it – what is it? Play with it. So yeah. Stories are great. I just want you to get started simply until you kind of get in the gear of it and get in the swing of it. And then run for it. You’ll love it. Because animals tells us story too. You know?

Dawn: Yeah. And then the other thing too is I find that as I do this I have to have my eyes shut. I mean I’m a visual person but – do you have your eyes shut when you’re doing or do you have your eyes open? Val: In the beginning it’s important to be really focused. And if you close your eyes, you shut out distractions, right? So you can really go inward and feel. Dawn: Yep. Val: Once you get more practice at it, it won’t matter if your eyes are open or closed. You should be able to access the space very easily. I mean just literally at the drop of a hat. So yeah in the beginning – absolutely do what helps. And then as you get better – more practiced and more confident – try it with your eyes open. Dawn: And then one other question – I don’t mean to hog this but the third eye. Asking a question from your third eye – how the heck do you do that? Val: You know the chakras? Are you familiar with chakras? Dawn: I mean I know the third eye is like in between your eyebrows, right? Val: Yes. Correct. It’s the third eye right there between the eyebrows. You’re holding it – it’s your pituitary point actually. So you’re asking your body/mind to evaluate the question. That’s all you’re doing. You just kind of hold it there in that space. You can write the question down if you want to. Or you can just imagine writing it. Or just hold that question and just kind of hold it at your head. You can actually do it physically if you’d like or just imagine that you’re doing it. You’re giving your body/mind and your third eye a chance to evaluate it and to consider it. And then you’re taking it to your superconscious mind here at the heart. At the heart chakra. So you’re just doing an evaluation of it. That’s all you’re doing. Dawn: Okay. Val: You offer it to your head and then offer it to your heart. And then let your body/mind give you the answer. Dawn: Okay. This is all new to me. So. Val: Great I love it. It’s fun, huh? Yeah a lot of new stuff. I’m glad. Okay, so thanks Dawn. Let’s go ahead and hear from someone else. Barb: Cindy, go ahead. Cindy: Well what I really got out of this was the dog consciousness and the cat consciousness. I brought this cat in. My sister in law’s cat in last night and it did not go well.

And there was a lot of conflict between the dogs and the cat. And we have a feral cat in the house. The feral cat is upset. And I’m looking at okay – what’s my consciousness going in here? What’s my beliefs going in here? And I can’t wait till we go to the group sessions so that I can have a group session with everybody and get all this cleared. But really seeing – what am I bringing to this? What’s my consciousness? What’s their consciousness? To really see the whole dynamic playing out really was a great golden nugget for me. Val: Awesome. Thank you for sharing that. Brilliant. Good. So stay with it. And it will clear hopefully shortly. (laughs) Cindy: Great. Val: So good. Thanks Cindy. Awesome! Barb: Claire, you’re up. Val: Claire! Claire: Hey Val. Can you hear me? Val: Yes I can. Go ahead. Claire: Okay. Well I just wanted to tell you my golden nugget was right at the beginning when you talked about all your self-doubts that you had. Val: Yeah. Claire: I mean – that was such a relief to me because the first time I got a bad feedback it just completely wiped me out. I thought everything that thought was right so far was probably wrong. I was imagining it. And I gave up. Val: Yeah. That is so tragic. And that’s why I brought that out. And it’s why I’m so glad you said that. And I hope – because it doesn’t invalidate everything you got. It’s just “Ooh, I missed that true/false answer. I got the other ones right. But I missed that one.” And so we can look at that and see – okay where did I go off? And learn from it. And stay in the game. You’re doing it. You’re already doing it. And sometimes we’re off and sometimes we’re on. So don’t invalidate when you’re on. Claire: (inaudible) Val: Excellent. Thank you so much for sharing that. Claire: (inaudible) Thank you. Barb: Karen M, you’re up. Karen M: Okay. Well I have a question. A comment first I guess about the – what was just shared there a second ago. That was my issue too about validation about what I’m perceiving. But I absolutely loved that. What did you call it? The insiders’ games? Val: Yeah. Karen M: I love that. That has just popped out to me because who cares if I get it wrong? Val: Thank you! Karen M: (inaudible) anything else. And then I can just practice and practice and I don’t have to worry about hooking up with other people – which has been kind of a concern for me. Because I’m always – I can do it anytime. Val: Yeah. Karen M: And play and have fun with it. I just really love it. Val: Yay! Karen M: I look forward to doing it all different ways. Val: I love it. Yeah and you can make up some new ones too. Be sure to try the gift game. I love to do that one. Karen M: I have theses little statues I got (inaudible) for like two years. And I’ve been sitting there with them going “Now what do I do with these they’re in a drawer.” I’m going to wrap them up in little boxes because they are different shapes but each one is a different color. I can perceive both the shape and the color on them. Val: You can. Although part of the gift game is to have someone give you a gift that you don’t know what’s in the box. Karen M: Yeah but I meant – there is like twelve of them. And I could put them all in different boxes and then I pull each box out so I won’t know which one is in the box. Val: That’s a great game. Oh I love that. Karen M: (inaudible) Val: Yeah. Yeah. I love it.

Karen M: And my question really quick here is – when you said that the little doggy with the back injury was mirroring his owner from lack of stability and stuff – I don’t quite understand. What benefit – how does that benefit the owner? I don’t quite understand it. Val: It’s not about benefit. It’s about understanding deeper patterns. And unraveling where they’re coming from. Karen M: Why would they come from that place? Why do they do that though? I mean – I don’t know. (inaudible) Val: I didn’t give permission for this to be. So all I can tell you is what I’ve noticed in my experience. And I know it was a really important thing to be aware of because sometimes – Karen M: (inaudible) Val: Exactly. And if you find that – if you see that – and know it. You’ll recognize it. I have a knee problem. And guess what? My dog does too. Same knee. (laughs) That’s not a coincidence. There aren’t coincidences here. It means that he is either mirroring me or I’m mirroring him. Or we’re working on this pattern together to find strength and to clear whatever is causing us to have this problem. So that’s the way to look at it. Karen M: That means like your souls are connected. And both are growing in that area. Val: That’s correct. Yes you got it. You got it now. Karen M: Okay. Thank you. Val: Mm-hmm. Karen M: Yeah. Val: Good. You might want to relisten to that whole bit now that you have more clarity of understanding. I think you’ll get more out of it now. Okay? Karen M: I will. Val: Awesome. Thank you Karen. It’s going to take me weeks to go back through this because I got so much out of it. And so many little pieces here and there just kept clicking in.

One thing that you might get a kick out of Val. I finally had a conversation with Shyla. And it didn’t even really click in until just now with the mirroring. I finally get it. It’s not actually the disease that’s going on. It’s – how do I put this? When we had our conversation and I talked to her about her weight and how she has to get the weight – and she says “You need to get the weight off.” And I said “Well yeah, well I realize this.” And then she made it a competition with me. And she said, “We have to do this pound for pound. If you lose a pound, I’ll lose a pound.” Val: Whoa. Jackie: But she – and it’s her whole body problem. And all the things that she’s experiencing aren’t mirroring me item for item. She’s having all these problems because of everything that’s going on. I don’t know if I’m saying this right. But everything that is going on with me is coming out in her. Val: Yeah. Jackie: And that’s why she’s so sick. Val: Yes. Jackie: I mean I finally get it. Val: Yeah you do. So that can feel pretty enormous. It can feel really heavy but you have tools now. And you have help and you have support. Both of you do. And you’ve already started unraveling this. And healing it. So for you especially – I want to draw your attention to Byron Katie’s work. And start picking apart some of the things that have driving me. That have been fundamentally pushing you to have all this stuff go on. And you might even ask Shyla. Well what’s this about? And let her share that with you. And then take it into Byron Katie and clear it. And every little bit you clear will be like one more pound off. When you say – take the weight off. And Shylas’s saying, “Well you take it off.” To me weight is not just physical pounds. Jackie: Right. Val: It’s also energetic and emotional and spiritual. So we’re going to lighten the load here. Yeah. Jackie: Yeah. But I did. I finally got it. Val: Fabulous. I’m so proud of you. Thanks Jackie. Jackie: Thank you.
