How to get from the Vienna airport to the JUFA Hotel

Public transportation from the airport Public transportation in Vienna is safe, punctual and an inexpensive alternative to taking a taxi (which costs

about 35€ from the airport; more details at the end of this document). Here are the public transportation

options to get from the airport to the JUFA Hotel:

S7 train + tram Summary: Train to Wien Geiselbergstraße (16 mins), then tram 6 (direction Kaiserebersdorf) to Enkplatz (2

stops, 3 mins)

Duration: About 30 minutes. Time depends on connection.

Cost: €4,20 one way

Directions: Follow the blue signs (see blue icon on the right) to get to the platforms where the S7

train leaves from. They leave at least every 30 minutes. You need to buy your ticket before you enter

the train at the machines in the arrivals hall or in the area closer to the platform, or online (Link to

English website). At the ticket machine which has a touch screen look for the flags on the screen to set the

language to English. Enter Vienna Airport as your starting point and “Wien Enkplatz (U)” as your destination

and click the field that says “Single tickets and day tickets” (see screenshot below).

It will show you all the train connections available for the next 1-2 hours including the length of travel and

number of changes and lets you pick which one you would like to take. (Unless it is highlighted as a reduced

price ticket, the tickets are valid for any connections on that day so do not throw away your ticket if you miss

one).

The machine will then create one ticket that is valid for both the train and the tram.

Your transfer station is called “Wien Geiselbergstraße”. This is what the platform looks like:

There, take the elevator down to the street level and get onto an above ground tram 6 towards Wien

Kaiserebersdorf Zinnergasse (Schleife Ost) and take it two stops to Enkplatz. From there it’s a 6-10 min walk

to the JUFA. You don’t need a new ticket for this part of the trip.

CAT train + Subway The City Airport Train (CAT) is a train that, unlike the S7, does not stop

between Wien-Mitte station and the airport. Trains go every 30 minutes

(From the airport always at ‘9 and ’39, to the airport at ‘7 and ’37). At the Wien-Mitte station, there is airport

personnel, so on your way back home you can check in your luggage already and only take your carry-on on

the train if you like (more info here: https://www.cityairporttrain.com/en/home#city-check-in and check in

times per airline here https://www.cityairporttrain.com/userfiles/files/downloads/City-CheckIn-Airlines.pdf

). The CAT has free wifi and power outlets. Here is the website for more information:

https://www.cityairporttrain.com/en/home .

Cost: 13,40€ one way (CAT: One-way 11€; return 19€; return can be within 6 months of purchase. You will

also need to buy a one-way ticket to get from Landstraße train station to Enkplatz. The CAT ticket machines

are usually set to a 24-hour-Vienna ticket which is 8€ and valid all day. If you don’t plan to use the public

transportation again that day it would be cheaper to buy a single ticket for 2,40€ at a machine at Wien Mitte-

Landstraße.)

Time: About 35 minutes (16 mins on the CAT from the airport to Wien Mitte-Landstraße plus 17 mins for

subway and walk)

Directions: Follow the neon green signs to get to the platform that the CAT train leaves from. It is a

5 min walk from baggage claim to the CAT platform. You can buy your ticket at the green CAT ticket

machines or online. There is a CAT counter with helpful staff in the airport arrivals hall right outside

baggage claim. Take the CAT to the end destination Wien-Mitte Landstraße. There, follow the signs for the

orange subway line U3. This is what the U3 platform looks like at Wien-Mitte-Landstraße (see photos below):

Make sure that on the

display it says

“Simmering”. Take the

subway seven stops

towards Simmering to

the second-to-last stop

Enkplatz. Get off at

Enkplatz and take the

exit … and walk 6 mins

to the JUFA (see map

below).

Overland Bus + Subway Once an hour (at ’30), there is a bus going directly from the airport to the Subway

stop Erdberg. The bus company is called Flixbus. From Erdberg, you can take the

orange subway line to the stop Enkplatz. More info and tickets at www.flixbus.at

(website available in many languages).

Duration: About 27 minutes (15 minutes on the bus plus 12 minutes for subway and walk)

Cost: 7,40€ (5€ one-way for the bus plus 2,40€ for the subway)

Directions: Leave the arrivals terminal through the main exit on the same level to get to the bus stop right

outside the exit. Look for the Flixbus sign to find the right area where the bus will stop. Take the bus to the

end stop Erdberg. Transfer to orange subway line U3 in the direction Simmering. Take it three stops to

Enkplatz. Walk 6-10 mins to JUFA (see map above for walking route).

Taxi It is best to reserve a taxi from the airport so that you can get a better price (around 35€ or even 28€

instead of 45€). More info on specific taxi companies and their prices at https://www.flughafentaxi-

wien.at/en/

Cost: about 28-45€

Time: About 20-40 minutes depending on traffic.
