From January 2017 CCC has access to the following journals : Online Only British Journal of Cancer

International Journal of Radiation

Journal of Clinical Oncology

Radiotherapy and Oncology

Print and Online Palliative Medicine Print Only New England Journal of Medicine Radiography

*PLEASE NOTE* Access to hundreds more e-journal titles are available via NICE Evidence (www.evidence.nhs.uk)

A full list of journals held by the

Library and Knowledge Service (LKS) is available via the library catalogue.

This includes journals purchased by Wirral University Teaching Hospital

(WUTH) and journal archives.

The journals listed in print format are held in

the Holly Room and can be accessed between 9am - 5pm

Monday - Friday

Free photocopying and printing facilities are available for CCC staff

Journals provided by Elsevier Science Direct (Lancet Oncology, Radiotherapy and Oncology, and International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology and Physics) will also require you to

register on their site before access will be granted. Further information is available in Helpsheet No.14 Accessing Electronic Journals via Science Direct which can be downloaded via the

Library webpage.

Helpful Tips...

The user interface/logon requirements will differ between publishers. Some will require a username and password , others may require you to re-enter your OpenAthens details or will

grant you access simply by your IP range

If you are prompted to log in via Open Athens and are asked to select an institution—select NHS England if Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is not listed as an option

If you have any problems accessing a journal please contact the library directly and we can advise over the telephone ext. 8610.

Alternatively if you would like a librarian to assist you in person

the Library based in the Holly Room is staffed on a Tuesday between 9am-1pm and

Thursday afternoon between 1pm-5pm

If you have trouble accessing a journal via NICE Evidence—go directly to the journal homepage and try and log in either via Open Athens or with the username and password

(if applicable)

To see ALL the journals that you are entitled to access - including those purchased

nationally you need to login with OpenAthens. If you do not have an account, you may register for

an OpenAthens account here.

How do I access electronic journals?

Go to www.evidence.nhs.uk and click on the

“Journals and Databases” tab

Search for journal title in the A-Z list of nationally available journals e.g.

Journal of Clinical Oncology

NB There are 3 radio buttons above the search box

● Exact title ●Start of tiltle ●All words in title

If you select “Exact title” make sure that you

type carefully—you may not retrieve any results if you have made a typing error
