How Much of the Bible Can You Believe? The foundation and basis of our beliefs are found in the Bible and not in

opinion or religious tradition. Our theology is derived first, foremost and directly from the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with the complete teachings of the Bible. Otherwise, the ground upon which we stand is sinking sand.

We believe in the inerrancy of Holy Scripture—inerrancy meaning “being

free from error” (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/inerrancy). We believe in the entirety of the teachings of Jesus. While there are those who seek to discredit certain parts of Jesus’ teachings in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and/or Acts 1, we do not. We believe in the other writers of the Bible who were empowered by the Holy Spirit to proclaim and provide all that is necessary for truth, Godliness and eternal life in Christ (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:3). Yet again, there are some who attempt to dissuade people from believing in the other biblical authors, we are not those people. Jesus said in John 16:12–13 that He had many more things to say and that the Spirit was going to come and guide them into all truth. I believe the “all truth” phrase is in reference to what the Apostles preached and what the other writers of Scripture recorded. We believe in the inerrancy of the entirety of the Bible.

Now, please lend me a listening ear and allow me to reiterate something—

“The foundation and basis of our beliefs are [should be, at least] found in the Bible and not in opinion or religious tradition.” Be cautious of using or adhering to phrases such as, “Well, we have always done it that way” or “I’m not sure why we believe that…I guess it’s just what we’ve always believed.” If we cannot support our actions or beliefs with Scriptures and Scriptural examples, then why do we do such actions or have such beliefs? This is a challenging statement to write and even more challenging to live out. However, I believe restoration (meaning, the effort to restore 1st century Christianity) is an ongoing effort that we have not arrived at yet.
