How Is Beowulf Heroic?Beowulf fits the basic stereotype for being a hero

back then, he comes to the people having been a great warrior, tells them how great a warrior he is. Then defends them from great dangers three times, giving his life the third time.

Beowulf is just better than the average human, he fights with more strength and skill than any other human his entire life, seeming to just not age at all. And the most obvious reason that he was better than the average human was his ability to fight underwater for so long.

What impact did Anglo Saxon language and literature have on today's English language?

Since this is one of the first literary works written in some form of English, it has influenced many parts of our language such as words in our language that have derived from their words, and poetic and story telling elements that have come from Beowulf.

What influence over contemporary lit has the epic and epic hero? The Epic Hero has given way to the warrior

hero in our stories. Also the idea of fighting for revenge has come from epics.

I think we can draw the first beginnings of a “superhero”, back to the Epic hero. In other words, Beowulf was to the old English people what Superman is to us.
