How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Nigel • Seen as a sly and suspicious character• Audience is meant to be suspicious of Nigel’s character• Nigel is a needy character and male audience members are supposed to relate more to Nigel’s son than Nigel

Janet• Janet’s character is not explored that much during opening scenes• She is seen as a quiet woman•She looks quite vulnerable in the opening scenes

Comparable Characters

• Nigel’s character was based on Morgan Freeman’s character,

Detective William Somerset , a police detective who, like Nigel,

is nosey and sly.

In the opening scenes of my thriller, Rachel Mcadam’s character, Lisa Reisert, is most comparable to Janet as she is portrayed as a vulnerable character much like Janet.

Intruder• The unknown intruder’s character is not explored that much in the opening scenes as the audience is meant to be left asking questions about who the intruder is.• The intruder can be compared to the unknown characters in both Se7en and Red Eye. •This is because none of the characters faces are revealed within the openings of any of the films, which creates suspense and keeps the audience captivated as they are left asking questions which makes them want to continue watching the film.
