HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION&RESEARCH, PLANNING&EVALUATION STAGES?

MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN CONSTRUCTION

During the filming process I used a HD Camera and Tripod. I had used these before, and felt comfortable using them. This was used during the construction period. The Tripod allows me to do different heights as well as movement such as the tilt and pan. It also allows me to control the camera, and therefore the camera was steady.

Once it was filmed, I used the iMacs in which we used the iMovie package to create the music video. Editing skills and creativity was used to produce my music video, and an Animatic was also created using iMovie. We used digital cameras to take pictures of my storyboard in which I think bluetooth to the iMac so that I could create one.

DRAMA ROOM/LIGHTENING This room provided with the

lightening to make the Gig Scene in my music video. I had problems with it, as I had never used it in my life, and it was fun playing with the lights, once I got the hand of it, I change the lights to what I wanted.

This use of the lightening for effect on my music video was done during the construction process.

Picnik used when constructing the Advert and Digipak www.picnik.com

As shown from the images on the previous slide, www.picnik.com was used to create the Magazine Advert and Digi-pak. This was extremely useful, as I couldn’t really understand or handle Photoshop well, so instead I used this. By using the different editing packages used I created both ancillary texts. All I had to do was upload a photo and edit it with different effects. I could zoom into my pictures so that I could colour in certain details I wanted to define, which was really effective and made some of the pictures for the Digi-pak intricate and interesting:

MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN RESEARCH& PLANNING

Through my research I knew which genre I wanted, and therefore I searched into three genres I was considering to use: Electro/Rock/Indie

A considerable amount of unsigned artists came up, when I click the genre I was looking for in the search artist section. Through this website I was able to listen to them and could contact them, if they provided an email.

Through a search at different music and artist I came across Black Diamond Bay and I really enjoyed it. From there I used their contact email to ask if I could use their music for my coursework.

RESEARCH…

Other website were used for research, including the search engine.

This I used to gather pictures from other advert/digipaks and real media products and get information.

Also used was which was used to look at other music videos so that I could research into the same genre I was going for, as well as to see the different techniques used in music videos.

I also researched into a website that would give me the same font that my artists used which I was directed by from the. http://www.dafont.com

This year have been really productive with the use of new media technology, which makes the blog looks more sophisticated and fun.

“Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and colour schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.” http://www.wordle.net/

Wordle was a great way to show the audience feedback. I copied every quote from the feedback, which had offered the audience to comment on. For there I copied and pasted that into the wordle system which produced this image:

This allowed me to use for audience feedback and incorporate into my answer on this topic. Its really colourful and effective, and I used the prominent words into my answer.

Slideshare is a website which I used for the evaluation. This allowed me to create a presentation, which I felt more comfortable doing, and upload it so that I was able to put in on my blog. (www.slideshare.net)

PowerPoint on Microsoft was used to produce the presentation, which has included illustrations and commentary as well as hyperlinks to certain sites that I have used.

Using PowerPoint is extremely helpful in making this evaluation interesting, and colourful. As well as that I can convey so much more information on here and have some fun with it.

Surveymonkey is a website in which you can create a survey. It then provides you with a web link so that you could send it to friends, which I used through social networking sites (Facebook) and email.

Survey monkey also provides me with percentages which enables me to analyse the audience feedback. For example, as shown in the illustration below, the majority of my audience who took part in the survey listened to R’N’B, Indie, Rock and Dance the most.

BLOGGER Again, like last year, blogger (www.blogger.com

) was used so that we could present out coursework via blogging. I am very familiar with this and was excited to be using it again and hopefully to create another great blog.

HOW WOULD THIS PROJECT BE BETTER WITH OTHER TECHNOLOGIES

I suppose if I had a Steadicam then I could have dome some much more during the construction stage. I wanted to do many different effects with the camera, mainly camera movements, like a tracking, but I was however restricted by just a HD camcorder.

Also, the iMovie package didn’t have enough editing effects which would have made my music video more interesting if I could have incorporated more effects if available. Things such as a Chroma key (blue screen)
