How can the oceans be described? By: Jordan and Hanna
Slide 3
The Hydrosphere Earth is sometimes called the blue planet. Most
of earths water is in salty oceans. All the waters of Earth make up
the hydrosphere Sea level: The level of the oceans surface Sea
level differs from the ocean to ocean
Slide 4
Earths Oceans Ocean water contains many kinds of salt. Oceans
get salt from rivers. Salinity: is a measure of the amount of salt
in water. Cold, salty water is heavier than the same amount of
water that is either warm or has lower salinity.
Slide 5
Ocean temperatures The temperature of the ocean water differs
from place to place. Ocean water near the equator is about 30
degrees Celsius.(warmer) Near the poles, ocean water can be as cold
as -2 degrees Celsius.(colder) Some currents carry warm water to
the poles.

Ocean Resources Much of the salt that people add to food comes
from the ocean. Tuna is just one of many foods that come from the
ocean. Materials such as Magnesium and drinking water also come
from the ocean.
