How Ancient People Affected the Environment.

Introduction

• I will explain in this Power Point how all ancient civilizations affected the environment.

• You will see very first mankind of the glacier age to the beautiful ancient Romans.

• You will also see how these ancient civilizations affected our time today.

After Glacier Age

• They hunted wild animals for food.

• Cut down trees for shelter probably.

• Stole shelters from animals.

• Cut down a lot of trees for stone hedge (when there was).

Early Man

• Early mankind had to make fires which would cause lots of pollution like all other ancient people.

• They also had to kill animals to get food.

• Had to unearth soil for flint.

Early Farmers

• Irrigation ditches effected the water causing the water level to decrease.

• Slash and burning also caused lots of pollution and trees to be cut down and animals to die.

• Had to capture animals for eating and raising.

Mesopotamia• Mesopotamia was a wet

desert area but there was a small amount of trees.

• Mesopotamians had to cut down a lot trees and they got rid of a lot of soil for bricks.

• They also needed fish from the rivers they lived at.

• Needed to mine for copper and tin to make bronze.

Egypt• Egypt was a desert country so

there was no trees.• But they did do stuff to land

and water, like the all other civilizations had to catch lots and lots of fish.

• And they needed land so they destroyed some ground and killed animals.

• Unearth sand for brick and building them for buildings like pyramids.

Greece• Greece was a very green

country so there was a lot of soil and trees.

• They had to cut down these trees and they had to mine for stuff like marble.

• They also had to kill animals for food.

• Once attacks would begin fires would come and a lot of animals would die and waste of resources.

Rome• Rome was also a very

green country like Greece.• There was a lot of greens

at Rome and they cut down the trees like the Greeks.

• Long and terrible battles raged over Rome for years. The fires, litter, and other things would cause pollution.

Conclusion• All these different civilizations all

caused a amount of pollution.• In later times it all got worse.• The people of the imperial age (1400-

1700 A.D.) had to cut down lots and lots of trees and to kill animals.

• When settlers came to America they began to make anti-animal campaigns making them endangered.

• Today our ways or just making this much worse with the fuels we use. But as time continues we will find other ways to conserve our environment and continue our daily lives.
