A Note From the Conference Chair

Welcome to the 2018 KOTA Annual Conference. I am pleased to serve in the role of Education Officer and Conference Chair again this year. Our theme is, “Making a Difference”. The dragonfly in our logo represents how change is in our hands. We all play a vital role in advancing our profession whether by excelling in leading and advocating or by choosing to support those who do. In order for our profession to remain in the forefront of this ever-changing healthcare Field, we cannot sit idle and expect others to advocate for us. The Conference Committee reviewed the surveys completed after last year’s Conference in order to compile a list of topics and presenters that you have expressed an interest in learning more about.

We took your recommendations and opinions about what you liked or did not like about last year’s Conference, and we made changes accordingly. We have continued the Friday evening social due to the success of the Centennial Bash last year. We also amped up our social media campaign via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to hear your voices throughout the year. Make sure to take photos during the Conference and share via your favorite social media outlets. Based on the feedback we received, we developed our own KOTA baseball t-shirt that can be worn year after year. We hope you enjoy the presentations we have arranged for you. For the seventh year now, our Conference will be GREEN! You can register and pay online, receive your Conference confirmation electronically, preview all Conference materials online, and even view all handouts online. Make sure you bring your iPads, iPhones, Kindles, smartphones, and laptops so you can view the materials online during sessions. If you prefer, you will still be able to print out whatever handouts you would like, either prior to, or after Conference. We are excited about more upcoming changes to KOTA, including an updated web page. Be sure to follow us and watch for updates. Our 2019 KOTA Conference will be held in Manhattan, Kansas. If you would like to join next year’s Conference Committee and help plan the event, please let me know. We are seeking to add additional Committee members, speakers and topic ideas. I look forward to meeting everyone this year! Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I look forward to meeting everyone. Thank you for joining us this year! Amy Adamson KOTA Education Officer
