Hosted by the award-winning Cincinnati Children’s Choir ABOUT THE QUEEN CITY FESTIVAL The Queen City Festival is a national treble-voice festival hosted by the Cincinnati Children’s Choir, Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music. A non-competitive festival, choirs perform combined repertoire under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director of the award winning Cincinnati Children’s Choir, Robyn Lana, and share their own repertoire in the Gala Concert held at a local venue. Guest Artist, Jim Papoulis, leads the festival choir through the process of song-writing culminating with a performance of their work in the Gala Concert. REGISTRATION FEE: $250.00/choir All choirs are required to submit a non-refundable registration fee by January 1 st . (Applied to tuition.) FESTIVAL TUITION: $485.00/participant Festival tuition per participant covers programming costs, room, and board for the duration of the Festival, as well as additional activity fees (such as a day at Kings Island Amusement Park and the Newport Aquarium). * Final payments for all participants are due May 1 st , and are non-refundable. * FESTIVAL CONDUCTORS JIM PAPOULIS Jim Papoulis composes, orchestrates, and conducts music from many genres and is known for work that connects classical and world sounds with contemporary rhythms, voices, and computer technology. His work includes composition and orchestration for contemporary live corporate shows, scores for film, commercials, dance, and pop songs, and writing for classical ensembles, infusing a traditional sound with contemporary instrumentation. ROBYN REEVES LANA Robyn Reeves Lana is the Founder, Managing Artistic Director and Conductor of the Cincinnati Children’s Choir, Ensemble-in- Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department and is an adjunct professor at Xavier University. Under her leadership, CCC has received numerous awards including; a gold medal in the 2012 World Choir Games, the American Prize (2015), and the Chorus America ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming (2016). Recognized for building tone, artistry, and independent musicianship in children and youth, Lana has conducted international, state and regional honor and festival choirs including Carnegie Hall, the Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing) and in Malacca, Malaysia. Her choirs have performed for State, Regional, and National professional development conferences including ACDA Central Division, AOSA National Conference and will be highlighted in performance at the Chorus America National Conference in June 2016. In 2012, she received CCM’s Distinguished Alumna Award. She is currently serving on the Chorus America Board of Directors and is the Chair of ACDA’s Standing Committee on Advocacy and Collaboration.
