Child, Youth and School Services Summer Camps
Parents: Summer is near and we have just what
you are looking for to keep your children
involved and engaged. High Adventure 2011 is a
fun and exciting way for your teen to spend
part of his/her summer vacation. Youth Services
will offer program activities (Monday-Friday)
that will include field trips, arts & crafts, men-
toring, sports, cooking, and much more. This
camp begins June 6 and costs $55 per week,
special field trips are an additional fee. The
camp day begins at 9 am and ends at 6 pm, with
the exception of special field trip days. If
accommodations are required prior to 9 am,
youth will participate in the ―Promise Passport
Community Service‖ program and assist with
setting up daily activities starting at 7 am.
Attendance is limited to youth in 6th-9th grades
(youth eligibility for Youth Services programs is
based on the grade participants have just
completed, not the new grade they will enter in
the fall of the next school year) who are Family
members of active-duty military or Department
of Defense civilians employed at Fort Hood.
Legal proof of guardianship is required for
youth not residing with parents. Campers will
receive a USDA nutritionally balanced lunch
and after-noon snack. If your youth is allergic to
a certain food, a doctor’s statement must be
provided before a substitute food can be
served. Youth should wear appropriate summer
clothing: T-shirts, shorts, jeans, socks, and close
-toed shoes. Supervision will be provided by
trained personnel using a 1:15 ratio. * Note:
Camp is not to be conducted on July 4th in
observance of Independence Day. Rates will not
be reduced for that week.
School-aged Services is also offering a camp for
youth in kindergarten through 5th Grade—
Summer Spectrum. Youth should bring bathing
suits, towels, extra T-shirt, and sunscreen.
Please have a bag with your youth’s name
plainly marked on it to prevent confusion and
loss of personal items. Also, please mark your
youth’s clothing with name tags or a laundry
marker. Youth are responsible for their own
items. A lost and found box will be set up at
each site and should be checked daily. At the
end of each camp week items are discarded.
Youth are not allowed to bring bikinis,
open-toed shoes with straps, toys, hand held
games, glass containers, makeup, radios, tank
tops, cameras, money, or anything you don’t
want lost. New families will register at a site
according to their child’s grade. Currently
enrolled families will complete summer camp
registration at their home site. Kindergarten:
Venable SAC, First: Duncan SAC, Second:
Montague SAC, Third: Clarke SAC, Fourth:
Walker SAC, Fifth: Hobby SAC. For more
information about either of these camps, please
feel free to call the CYSS Central Registration
Office at 254-287-8029 or the School Age Care
Office at 254-287-4948.
