Stan ClarkeFor his outstanding service as a National Councillor, Trade Committee Chairman and Technical Official, notably as an Umpire, as well as in Lancashire.

Began playing in 1965 and after three years took on the role of Club Secretary, holding that post for 22 years.

Qualified as a Club coach, then 1* diploma, 2* diploma and tutor assessor.

Senior coach at the North West centre of excellence at Bolton, then at the Merseyide centre of excellence

Qualified as a County Umpire, rising to National Umpire, International Umpire and the pinnacle of umpiring, ITTF Blue Badge status. Umpired at English Open, European Championships, Commonwealth Games, Paralympics and European Cup.

Has held various roles on the Liverpool League committee from mid-1970s to present; Lancashire County committee from 1982 to date, the last 20 years as Chairman and National Councillor,

Was a member of and then chaired the County Championships Committee and the ETTA Trade Committee.

Served as North West Region Development committee Chairman and Secretary.

Committee member of the Association of English Table Tennis Umpires from its inception to present.

Pat ChatwinFor her longstanding support of the Association and her husband, notably while he was Deputy Chairman, as well as in Derbyshire.

Started playing at a Methodist youth club, met her husband Tony when sheltering from the rain in the table tennis room at Rolls-Royce, leading to playing table tennis for RR and subsequently to marriage.

Became a level 2 coach and visited a number of schools with Roy Bayliss, also coached at a number of youth clubs.

Secretary for the Derby & District TT Association for a year, also involved in the Derby 4*.

Keith “Charlie” ChildsFor his service as a Board Member as Vice-Chairman (Coaching), a Coach, notably in the Generation 2 Club and in the Southern Region, for British Para Table Tennis, as well as in Hampshire.

Has held the roles of either Chairman or General Secretary of Generation 2 TTC since 1972 and has been lead coach since 1977, when he qualified.From 1990 to 2015, was NJL Organiser at the venue and since 2013 has been SBL organiser at the venue.

Has been Gosport League Coaching/Development Officer from 1995 to present, and Vice-Chairman from 2005 to present. Held the role of Chairman from 2008-10.

Was ETTA Southern Region Coaching

Officer from 2005-07 and ETTA Vice Chairman (Coaching) from 2008-11.

Since 2006 has been a Coaching Tutor; since 2012 a Table Tennis England Coaching Assessor and since 2013 a Table Tennis England Coaching Internal Verifier. Was Southern Region Coach of the Year in 2013.

Since 2015, has been a Non Executive Director of British Para Table Tennis.

Brian DavisonFor his service as Regional Chairman (East), National Councillor as well as in Essex and Suffolk.

Jim KennyFor his service as a Technical Official in many aspects, notably in Field of Play, as a Deputy National Councillor as well as in South Yorkshire.

Became involved with table tennis in 1993 when his son started to play, has been a Tournament Organiser since 2003, a County Umpire since 2005 and a Referee since 2009.

Became a Technical Delegate (Para) to the ITTF in 2011 and has officiated on field of play at the Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth Games and Men’s World Cup.

A member of the Tournament organisers’ committee before reorganisation to TOC and an Ivor Montagu Award winner.

Ran the National Junior League for Yorkshire for several years and has been assistant organiser for Junior British League and Veterans’ British League, and organiser for the Women’s British League.

Has also held the roles of Sheffield Closed secretary; executive committee member of the Sheffield TTL for more than 15 years; at County level was schools organiser.

Received the Arthur Smith award in Sheffield for services to the league in 2014.

Ken PhillipsFor his service as a Coach, notably at Cippenham, and in the Southern Region as well as in Berkshire.

Cippenham Head Coach for 30 years and Chairman for most of the last 20 years. Was instrumental with other committee members in achieving the building of Cippenham TT Centre.

An ETTA level 4 senior coach, was awarded ETTA Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and NCF Volunteer Coach of the Year in 2001.

More than 20 juniors coached at the Club have gone on to win National championships and/or represent their country, two have won Commonwealth Games medals and one became European Mini and Cadet champion. In the last four years, has coached two para players to GB standard.

Currently Buckinghamshire coaching officer and for many years a Bucks County committee life member, also works in five schools, clocking up about 40 hours of volunteering each week.

Tom PurcellFor his service as a Board Member, including as Vice-Chairman (Membership), Technical Official, notably as an Umpire, as well as in Lancashire.

A Committee member and Chair of Discipline and Rules Sub-Committees in the Liverpool League from 2007 to present.

For Lancashire County TTA, has been a Committee member including County Umpire Secretary from 2007 to present.

Qualified as a County Umpire in 1996, National Umpire in 2001, International Umpire in 2004 and Blue Badge Umpire in 2007. Has officiated at numerous international and domestic tournaments, includingCommonwealth Games in Manchester (2002) and Glasgow (2014);European Championships in Sarajevo (2006) and St Petersburg (2008); Men’s World Cup in (2011) and Liverpool (2012); European Games in Baku (2015); and the Olympic Games in London (2012), where he umpired the men’s singles final.

Was ETTA Vice-Chairman (Membership) from 2013-14 and has been a Table Tennis England Board member from 2014 to present.

Lynda ReidFor her service as a Technical Official, notably as an Umpire, a Member of Disciplinary and Rules Committees, for VETTS, as National Council Representative as well as in Worcestershire.

Has been Chairman of Evesham Association for 20 years andWorcestershire County Secretary for the same period.

Volunteered at the European Championships 1994, World Championships 1997, World Veterans’ Championships 1998, Commonwealth Games 2002.

Qualified as a County Umpire in 1980 and an International Umpire in 2004 and has umpired most domestic competitions including National Championships, British League, School Games, Para events and BUCS events.

Major competitions include: Paralympics 2012; Commonwealth Games 2014; Commonwealth Championships 2009; European Championships 2007, 2010, 2011, 2014; European Youth Championships 2006, 2008; European Para Championships 2015.

A member of the Disciplinary

Committee from about 2000 to present; Rules Committee 2009 to present; currently sits on Umpire Selection Sub-Committee.

Matthew SyedFor his service as an England International as well as for promoting table tennis through the media.

The British table tennis No 1 for almost a decade, winning the men’s singles at the Commonwealth Championships three times, and competing for Great Britain in the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and Sydney in 2000.

He was four times a Senior National men’s singles champion.

Now a columnist and feature writer for The Times, writing regularly on football and other sports, as well as on culture, media and politics.

Has won numerous awards for writing including Sports Journalist of the Year at The British Press Awards on two occasions, as well as Sports Feature Writer and Sports Columnist of the Year at the Sports Journalist Association Awards six times.

A regular contributor to radio and television, inlcuding Sky News, Newsnight and CNN. Won the bronze medal at the Olympic Golden Rings ceremony in Lausanne for a film for the BBC, China and Table Tennis.

Author of books including Bounce and Black Box Thinking, currently presents the cult Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy on BBC5Live.

Keith Ponting President’s Memorial Award

for exceptionally long and outstanding service to Table Tennis England

Tony ChatwinFor his long and outstanding service as Deputy Chairman, Vice-Chairman, National Councillor, Committee Chairman and International representative, as well as a Technical Official, as an Umpire and Referee, and in Derbyshire.

Qualified as a National Umpire in 1966 and was in the first group of National Referees in 1971. Qualified as an International Umpire in 1973 and in 1992 was the third English International Referee to be appointed.

Has served on various ETTA Committees: Development, Tournaments, National Umpire and Referees Committee as a member, (1970-1994) and Chairman (1994-1997); Deputy Chairman of ETTA (1997-2003); Currently President of the Association of Umpires and Chairman of the Swaythling Club,England.

Was Deputy Referee at English Opens every year from 1972-76 and the World Championships (1977); Referee at numerous event including World Student Games (1981), European Top 12 (1982-83), English Open (1992), Commonwealth Championships (1985), US Open (1992), National

Championships (1970), World School Championships (1993).

Umpired at events including World Championships (1969), European Championships (1972, 76, 84) Commonwealth Championships (1973), European Youth Championships (1978, 79, 82) and French, Italian and Welsh Open Championships.

Has served on various Commonwealth, International and European Technical Committees and was an Evaluator for the ITTF Blue Badge Scheme from 2003, attending a number of World Championships from 2003-2012.

Appointed a Life Member of the ETTA in 1995.

Qualified as a County Umpire and Tournament Organiser during the 1990s.

Sussex County Junior Match Secretary from 1995-2017, running three Junior teams, plus a further three Cadet

teams from 2001. Had teams win the County Cadet title three times and Junior title five times, with outstanding players such as Helshan Weerasinghe, Lois Peake, Jack and Josh Bennett and Yolanda King.
