    6JK Homework for week ending Friday 2/3/12

    Reading - reflections due Friday 2nd March

    As usual each night you should complete at least 15-20 minutes of reading. You can read to anadult in your house; share the reading with an adult or a sibling; you can read to yourself; or preferably, do a combination of these things over the week. As you complete your reading

    each night, complete a reading reflection that records your thoughts and ideas about whatyou have read, not a summary of the story. At the end of the week you will show Ms Jessica

    your progress with your reading and how you have reflected on it.

    Maths - due Friday 2nd March

    This week we will again be using the Mathletics website to practice our math skills(www.mathletics.com). You have also been assigned two activities to complete about basicoperations, shape and space, or patterns and algebra, so make sure these are done by Thurs-day morning. This week also spend some time using a different part of the problem solving section.Choose a new section and try to solve one or two of the problems.

    Book Week: Poster - due Wednesday 29th February

    As you all know this week is book week. To help join in the celebrations this week youwill all make a poster about a Book that Blows Your Mind. I will email you all the post-er template and you need to think about an action or adventure book that you en-

    joyed so much it blew your mind. Use the template to create your own poster that wewill display in the classroom. Your work for this task is due WEDNESDAY.

    Field Trip: Reflection - due Friday 2nd March On Tuesday we will be going on a field trip to see a number of the Royal Projects at theChitrilada Palace. One of your homework tasks this week is to reflect upon your visit tothe palace and write a comment about your experience on the blog post titledReflecting on the Royal Projects. Use the following questions to help write your reflec-tion and add in any other ideas about the visit that you had.

    What was the most interesting Royal Project you saw today and why?

    Describe how 2 different Royal Projects are helping different groups of people inThailand

    Explain how you think His Majesty The Kings projects have changed Thailand and what impact youthink these projects will have on the countrys future

    Video: Technology and Creativity - due Friday 2nd March

    Watch the TED Talk by Ms. Shilo Shiv Suleman about her ideas for using technology to enable dreaming.Listen carefully to her ideas and how she decided to express them. Have a discussionwith an adult in your house about Ms. Sulemans ideas and use the ideas that you talk about in your discussion to answer the following questions:

    Does this type of book make children more or less creative? Explain your thinking.

    Describe what you understand to be Ms Sulemans Experiences, Reaction, andInspirations are that led to her creative expression.

    Write your thinking as a comment on the blog post with the video titled Using Technolo-gy to Enable Dreaming.
