Scaling and tailoring SE: Caution! • The story of Goldilocks; getting it just right • Do not over-engineer a simple project/system (car park) • Do not under-engineer a complex project/system (Sydney Metro) • Generic guidance on scaling, however every project is unique • Two seemingly identical projects may have significant hidden

differences in complexity, novelty and risk • Use engineering judgement to scale SE appropriately • Do not blindly “engineer by template”
