KEY EVENTS IN CHAPTERS 1-10 GEORGINAS FEELINGS/REACTIONS

Describe your reactions to Georgina at the end of Chapter 1.Georgina is desperate right now and is willing to do anything to help her mother find thema place to live, even if that means stealing a dog and conning another person out of $500.

Georginas motto right now is Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Event #1: Georgina begins writing in her notebookHow to Steal a Dog.

Event #2: Georgina receives a letter from her teacherand is worried that it may pertain to her appearance and

her sleepiness in class lately.

She is feeling two-sided on this. Onesides says what she is doing is wrong.However, her other side is telling herthat this is the only way out of herterrible situation.

It must worry Georgina that people arestarting to notice her dramatic changesin her behavior and appearance andkeeping it confidential must be verystressful for her as well.

Event #3: When Georginas mother told her and her

brother that they would be moving into a house.

Event #4: After all the excitement about moving into ahouse, Georginas dream house turned out to be an old

abandoned house.

Event #5: Georginas best-friend Luanne now has otherfriend named Liza that she goes to Girl Scouts withnow.

Event #6: Georgina has a memory about her old friendRacene Whitman and making May baskets at theirchurch.

Describe your reactions to Georgina at the end of Chapter 10.Well, Georgina finally did what she wanted to do and that is to steal a dog for rewardmoney. She doesnt feel good about what she has done and the guilt inside of her isstarting to build up as well.

Georgina, for the first time in a longtime, felt a sigh of relief. The thoughtthat they would not have to live in thecar anymore was wonderful.

She is very angry and disappointedabout how her situation turned frombad to worse. Having to live in anabandoned house was not the ideashe had in mind.

This makes Georgina jealous. Notonly does her best friend have a placeto live, she now has a new friend too.

It seems that even with Georginasgood memories that she has, shealways has a bad memory rightbehind it. Its frustrating to think thatevery time she tried to do a goodthing, something always ruined it forher.

1. Georgina and Toby set offto look for rewards signspertaining to Willy, the dog.

Georgina is surprisedthat no reward postersigns have been put upfor Willy yet.

Toby thinks that theowner doesnt care

It must be verydisappointing to beanticipating all nightthat reward posterswould be up and in themorning there arent

any to be found.

2. While looking for rewardposters, Georgina and Toby

meet Willys owner CarmellaWhitmore.

Georgina is nervousnow. She has now seen

the inside of Carmellashome and it is not whatshe expected.

Toby is very young sohe must be a little

scared about gettingcaught and getting intotrouble.

I felt a little bit fromGeorginas reaction

and Tobys reaction. Iwould feel nervous thatmy plan now seemedhopeless and alsoscared about getting introuble for my sisters

bad idea.

3. After Georgina and Tobymeet Carmella, they go to seeWilly and give him food.Willy puts his head on her

knee and looks sad.

Georgina becomesoverwhelmed andbegins to cry. She isfailing school, angry at

her father, and stealingWilly.

Willy is very sad. He isleft all day with nofood and tied up behindan old abandoned

house. He must misshis home and his ownervery much.

I know what it feelslike to be overwhelmedwith so many differentfeelings of stress and

nervousness allbundled up inside ofme until one day I justbreakdown. Iunderstand howGeorgina is feelingright now.

4. Georgina meets Mookie, ahomeless man, behind thehouse with Willy.

She seems nervousabout Mookie at first,but then she begins tofeel a little more

comfortable with him.

Mookie may behomeless but hes not a

dumb man. He can seethat Georgina is a little

nervous about himknowing where Willyis.

I already dont take to

kindly to strangers andif I was in the samesituation as Georgina, I

would be thinking of anew hiding spot forWilly.

5. Georgina goes to visitCarmella to ask her about themoney. However, Carmellas

sister, Gertie, will not loanher the $500 dollars for

Like I said before,Mookie is not a dumbman; he knows thatthere is somethinggoing on that Georginais not telling him.

I like Mookies motto,

however, I would use abetter word thanstink.

7. Georgina and Toby go to

visit Willy and notice that heis gone. When Georgina seesMookie bringing Willy backshe is furious with him.However, when Mookie tellsher that it was Willy whofollowed him out, she thankshim for bringing him backand is sorry for yelling at him.

Georgina was very

upset when she foundthat Willy was gone.She must have felt thather whole plan wouldhave been over. Shemust have also feltguilty for blamingMookie for takingWilly.

Mookie must have felt

insulted by Georginawhen she blamed himfor stealing the dog.

With all of the thoughts

and emotions going onthrough her head, shemust be lashing out atanyone, whether it beher brother, mother, orMookie, a homelessman who she finallyrealizes is a nice, smartman who leaves a goodtrail behind him.

8. Georgina finally brings

Willy home and tellsCarmella the truth abouttaking him.

Georgina must feel

guilty and also relievedat the same time.

Carmella is happy that

Willy is finally home,but is shocked whenGeorgina tells her thatshe is the one who tookWilly.

Georgina had a lot of

courage to do what shedid. Its hard to tell thetruth when you dosomething wrong,however, its a great

reward, to yourself,when you do.
