Advertorial

The power of oxygen is undeniable; Mother Nature has used oxygen to naturally purify the earth for thousands of years. Now let the power of oxygen clean your carpets!

Oxi Fresh is a revolutionary carpet cleaning system that is committed to being green and environmentally friendly. Our carpet clean-ing technology creates a powerful oxygen-ated cleaning system that breaks down stains so that they can be effectively removed from the carpet pile. Plus, the system is safe for children and pets, leaves no sticky residue, and has a fast one hour dry time! With our standard of excellence, we wouldn’t accept anything less

Us vs. Steam CleaningSteam cleaned carpets can take 24 hours

or longer to dry. This annoyingly long dry time is a result of the large amounts of water and chemicals used to clean the carpet rather than brush agitation. And when carpets are that saturated for so long, mold and mildew can become a problem. Another problem that arises with steam cleaning is that the dirty, oily water left in the carpet after a cleaning sinks down to the bottom of the carpet pad. Then, over time, the oils begin moving back up into the carpet, causing stains to reappear. This process is called wick back, and it’s never fun to deal with.

Oxi Fresh avoids these problems with its carpet cleaning services by using the power of oxygen to clean, rather than tons of water and chemicals. This means that you avoid over-saturation that can lead to mold and mildew, and instead have a fast, one hour dry time. Plus, our cleaning system doesn’t create dirty, oily water, instead it breaks up dirt and oils and makes them easy to scrub out of the carpet. This not only means that you don’t have to worry about wick back, but that you also get a thorough cleaning with amazing stain removal results.

Us vs. Spin BonnetSpin bonnet cleaning is a fancy way of say-

ing “floor buffer.” This cleaning method is great for cleaning tile, but when it comes to residential carpet cleaning, it is not able to pull the dirt and oily grime out of the carpet. Instead, the dirt and grime get pushed down deeper into the carpet pile. And although the top third of the carpet pile looks clean, the bottom portions remain largely untouched. When this cleaning method is complete, the technician must then rake the carpet back up, after having severely compressed it. This begins lifting stains back up.

So rather than pushing dirt and oils deeper into your carpet, Oxi Fresh relies on its pile lifting technology to effectively remove the dirt and oils from the bottom of your carpet pile without compression. This produces a truly deep cleaning as opposed to just the sur-face cleaning most dry cleaners provide. You see, unlike spin bonnet cleaners, we pride ourselves on providing truly healthy carpet cleaning.

The Green DifferenceOxi Fresh stands apart from its competi-

tors not only due to its extremely thorough cleaning system, but also because of its com-mitment to being green. Oxi Fresh’s environ-mentally friendly cleaning system is designed with the intent to conserve both water and energy, improve the health of your home, and employ green, nontoxic cleaning solutions. That means when you set up an appointment with Oxi Fresh, you can plan on getting a thorough, fast-drying, natural carpet clean-ing. Not only will Oxi Fresh help make your carpets clean, but it will also help keep the world clean.

All Natural, Environmentally Friendly ProductsAt Oxi Fresh we pride ourselves on cleaning

“The Way Mother Nature Cleans®.” As part of our green carpet cleaning standards, we are committed to using safe and green car-pet cleaning products in our cleaning system. The solutions we use for our cleaning system are non-toxic and safe in all residential envi-ronments, including those with children and

pets. The natural carpet cleaning solutions we

use are biodegradable and organic and are expertly applied by our natural carpet clean-ers. In order to help protect and improve air quality, our products also contain low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s). Using these products, which are gentle on fibers but tough on stains, is all part of our effort to provide a premium, natural carpet cleaning service.

Promoting Healthier Living Through Green Carpet CleaningSome of the health problems that originate

at home can be the result of not getting a natural carpet cleaning. How so? Well, when a home gets steam cleaned, a large amount of water is used, up to 40 gallons, and getting this water out of the carpet is very difficult. The cleaners end up leaving 10-20 gallons in the carpet.

This dirty water is then trapped in the car-pet and the pad, taking 12-36 hours to dry. This long exposure to water not only causes dirt to settle deeper into the carpet, but it also greatly increases the chances of mold and mildew forming. If this happens, your carpet is extremely unhealthy, making abatement or complete carpet replacement necessary.

Having to waste so much carpet, use such harsh chemicals, or get an entire second cleaning, though, is a real waste of resources, something we don’t like to see here at Oxi Fresh. Instead, you can use our green car-pet cleaning system to promote a healthier indoor environment. By removing contami-nants, dust, and allergens in the carpet, your entire home becomes healthier. What’s more, by maintaining your carpet with Oxi Fresh’s natural carpet cleaning, you’ll add years to its life, allowing you to keep it longer rather than having to wastefully replace it.

Energy EfficientCarpet Cleaning SystemOxi Fresh uses highly efficient cleaning

equipment to lower the energy requirements needed for each green carpet cleaning ser-

vice, saving energy and preventing unneces-sary waste. But that’s not enough for us. There are also three other important ways in which we provide energy efficient carpet cleaning.

No Truck Mounted MachinesTruck mounted carpet cleaning systems

require their vehicles to continue running throughout the duration of the job. This is done to provide power to the machines being used to clean your home. The vehicles are often running for multiple hours for a single job, releasing large amounts of carbon mon-oxide and harmful pollutants into the air. To combat energy waste, Oxi Fresh Carpet Clean-ing uses a portable cleaning machine that is not truck mounted. Our energy saving carpet cleaning means no running vehicles which means no pollution.

No Doors Left OpenTruck mounted cleaning systems also re-

quire you to leave your doors open through-out the entire carpet cleaning process so that their multiple tubes and hoses can run into your home from the vehicle. This allows the warm air in your home to escape in cooler months and the cool air to escape in warmer months, requiring you to use more energy to re-cool or re-heat your home. Our portable, energy efficient carpet cleaning machines al-low you to keep your doors closed through-out the entire process.

No Wasted EnergySteam cleaning systems that saturate your

carpet with multiple gallons of water require the use of machines designed to extract the wastewater. More energy is needed to power the extraction machines, which, despite all the energy they use, still leave your carpets wet -- often requiring 24-48 hours to dry. Be-cause our carpet cleaning franchises use a low moisture system with green carpet clean-ing products, your carpets will dry on their own in approximately one hour. It’s just an-other advantage of using Oxi Fresh’s energy efficient carpet cleaning.

Oxi Fresh is a revolutionary carpet cleaning system

Hartford House continues a standard set by Arts & Crafters in the 1850sAdvertorial

In mid-Victorian England, the Arts & Crafts Movement began with the simple philosophy that workers should be proud of the product they produced. This philoso-phy entailed that craftsmen take the time to make items worthy to stand the test of time. Under the leadership of William Blake and others, a burgeoning cottage industry was born of artisans who produced handmade furniture and decorative items.

Toward the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, the movement had spread to the United States and was led by such iconic figures in New York and New Jersey such as Gustav Stickley, Elbert Hubbard and the Roycrofters, and in Cali-fornia by the Greene Brothers. At this time, Louis Comfort Tiffany was also producing some of the most exquisite decorative ac-cessories ever made at his Tiffany Studios.

Today, unfortunately, the Arts & Crafts philosophy is sadly lacking in this country as evidenced by the numbers of poorly produced pieces that fall apart after mod-erate usage and take up residence in land-fills. However, if one looks carefully, small cottage industries producing quality items with long lives can be found around the United States and even northeast Georgia. One such place is Hartford House Furniture in Alto, just northeast of Gainesville.

The Beginning of Hartford HouseHartford House humbly began with the

passion and vision of Sarah Smith who sim-ply wanted to know how to make wood furniture. She enlisted the help and advice of several “old-timers” in the industry and began to make pieces in her garage. Before long, Sarah’s hobby was creating more de-mand from quality-seeking friends and fam-ily than her garage could efficiently allow her to make. On the advice of her husband, Allen, she found a storefront in southern Habersham County and set up shop with nine basic furniture designs in her arsenal. At this time, her mother watched the small showroom floor and used a cigar box as a cash register!

Hartford House TodayToday, Hartford House offers 9,000

square feet of showroom space which highlights all the wonderful wood designs

which have grown from those original nine basic pieces. In fact, there are hundreds of designs available! Pieces are available for purchase from the showroom floor or to order in all the finish, hardware, and wood choices available. Hartford House also de-signs and produces custom pieces inspired by customers’ own ideas or from other de-sign sources.

The Wood PiecesAll wood pieces shown, with the excep-

tion of wood chairs and stools, are hand-made in the production facility located at the back of Hartford House’s showroom. Beds, dressers, chests, end tables, sofa tables, dining tables, coffee tables, armoires, enter-tainment centers and television cabinets, kitchen islands—you name it, and Hartford House makes it!

Details are Everything When one looks at a piece of Hartford

House furniture, the quality is evident in the details:

• Dovetailed drawers• Screwed and plugged joinery• Hand sanding• Hand applied finishes• Hand turned legs

Our Mennonite Handmade Chairs & StoolsWhile Hartford House prides itself on its

fine craftsmanship of wood pieces, Sarah Smith realizes that, in the name of efficiency, chair making is better left to Mennonite builders and their generations of expertise. Hartford House works with three different groups of Mennonite builders who are located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Pieces are bought unfinished and shipped to Hartford House for finishing in its production facility. There are dozens of styles available—Windsors, Ladder Backs, Thumb Backs, Sheaf Backs, Paddle Backs, and Mission styles—with a gamut of other styles in between! Most of the styles are available in side chairs, arm chairs, break-fast stools, and bar stools in either maple, oak, or cherry solid hardwoods. A few styles are even available in walnut.

Don’t Forget Our Saddle Stools! Some of Hartford House’s bestselling

pieces are the saddle stools made by Ohio Mennonites. They are available in cherry,

maple, and oak, and come in three different heights: 18” for dining tables; 24” for coun-ter height pieces; and 30” for bar height pieces. The 18” stools are particularly use-ful as extra seating at a dining table.

Handmade Jetton UpholsteryHartford House is not in the upholstery

making business, but it does offer what it considers to be the finest upholstery avail-able today in this country. Charles Jetton and his family and associates have been making upholstery for almost 50 years in Taylorsville, North Carolina. The pieces are made of solid maple or oak frames with an 8-way hand-tied suspension. In other words, Jetton’s pieces are made the way furniture “used to be made” when it lasted a lifetime! In fact, all of Jetton’s pieces come with a lifetime warranty! Sofa, short sofa, loveseat, chair, and glider styles abound whether one is looking for very traditional or contemporary items. Customization op-tions also are offered when ordering in any of Jetton’s 200+ fabrics or providing your own fabric.

Handmade McNeilly ReclinersJack McNeilly has a furniture background

which spans almost half a century, and he has worked with some of the “big guys” including Drexel Heritage. In 2006, Mr. McNeilly decided he wanted to establish his own venture in the form of handmade leather recliners. He started the business with his basic leather club swivel glider (the 231), and it has grown to encompass dozens of styles of recliners, wall huggers, ottomans, and sofas. All are made in his facility in Lawndale, North Carolina, and they come with a lifetime frame warranty. All the leathers used are either top grain or full grain hides. Full grain and top grain leathers are considered to be some of the highest quality available because they are not significantly treated with chemicals which can weaken leather. Full grain and top grain leathers also have greater “breath-ability” which lengthens their lives. The older the leather gets, the more comfort-able it becomes!

Mattresses by JamisonHartford House carries a wide variety of

Jamison Mattresses including both spring and Talalay Latex foam styles. Since 1883

and over 7 generations of family owner-ship, Jamison Bedding strives to provide consumers with the finest quality bedding available anywhere in the world. Jamison is well known as a maker of resort quality bedding.

Decorative Accessories and Gifts/CollectiblesIn addition to fine furniture, Hartford

House also offers an incomparable line of decorative accessories including artwork, lighting, and rugs. The accessories are put with the different styles of furniture to create specific vignettes throughout the showroom. Collectible lines offered in-clude Arthur Court aluminum serveware, Willow Tree figures, and Byers’ Choice Car-olers. A small jewelry collection features items from Treska and Salisbury. American made candles also are offered from Root, Swan Creek, and Hillhouse Naturals.

The Seasons and HolidaysHartford House always offers seasonal

items for spring, summer, and fall and read-ies the showroom for the Christmas holi-days after Labor Day. Our Annual Holiday Open House also is held in November.

Come See Us Soon!Sarah Smith has the same business

philosophy today as the day she started Hartford House back in 1988: “It is our mis-sion to make available to you a wide selec-tion of quality handcrafted furniture and unique decorative accessories for your home. We also pledge to give you the very best in customer service. We will do all in our power to provide a positive shopping experience for you.”
