About this systemR This system is an auxiliary system; it

is not designed to provide completeprotection from property loss.Panasonic will not be heldresponsible in the event thatproperty loss occurs while thissystem is in operation.

For your safetyTo prevent severe injury and loss of life/property, read this section carefullybefore using the product to ensureproper and safe operation of yourproduct.

WARNINGPower connectionR Use only the power source marked

on the product.R Do not overload power outlets. This

can result in the risk of fire or electricshock.

R Completely insert the product intothe power outlet. Failure to do somay cause electric shock and/orexcessive heat resulting in a fire.

R Regularly remove any dust, etc.from the product by pulling it fromthe power outlet, then wiping with adry cloth. Accumulated dust may

cause an insulation defect frommoisture, etc. resulting in a fire.

R Unplug the product from poweroutlets if it emits smoke, anabnormal smell, or makes anunusual noise. These conditions cancause fire or electric shock. Confirmthat smoke has stopped emittingand contact an authorised servicecentre.

R Unplug from power outlets andnever touch the inside of the productif its casing has been broken open.Danger of electric shock exists.

R Never touch the plug with wethands. Danger of electric shockexists.

R Do not connect non-specifieddevices.

R Before connecting an electric deviceto this product, make sure theelectric device meets thespecifications described onpage 11. Using unspecifieddevices may cause fire or smoke.

InstallationR Install this product in accordance

with the provided instructions.R To prevent the risk of fire or

electrical shock, do not expose theproduct to rain or any type ofmoisture.

R Do not place or use this productnear automatically controlleddevices such as automatic doorsand fire alarms. Radio wavesemitted from this product may causesuch devices to malfunctionresulting in an accident.

R Panasonic will not be heldresponsible for damage or injurycaused by improper connection,installation, or usage.

R It is advised not to use theequipment at a refuelling point.Users are reminded to observerestrictions on the use of radioequipment in fuel depots, chemicalplants or where blasting operationsare in progress.

Operating safeguardsR Unplug the product from power

outlets before cleaning. Do not useliquid or aerosol cleaners.

R Do not disassemble the product.R Never put metal objects inside the

product. If metal objects enter theproduct, turn off the circuit breakerand contact an authorised servicecentre.

R Use this product to supply poweronly to devices which can beoperated safely remotely. Do notconnect the following.– Cooking appliances, irons, or

other devices that generate alarge amount of heat. There is arisk of fire, burns, and injury.

– Power tools, electric machinery,or other devices that could causeinjury and therefore must be usedunder direct, careful observation.

– Heating or cooling devices, or anytype of device which could causehealth risks, particular to theelderly or to small children, andtherefore should be used onlywhen usage conditions can beconfirmed.

– Medical devices. This product isnot intended to be used whenproviding medical care.

MedicalR Consult the manufacturer of any

personal medical devices, such as

pacemakers or hearing aids, todetermine if they are adequatelyshielded from external RF (radiofrequency) energy. DECT featuresoperate between 1.88 GHz and1.90 GHz with a peak transmissionpower of 250 mW.

R Do not use the product in healthcare facilities if any regulationsposted in the area instruct you not todo so. Hospitals or health carefacilities may be using equipmentthat could be sensitive to externalRF energy.

CAUTIONInstallation and locationR Never install the product during a

lightning storm.R The socket-outlet shall be installed

near the equipment and shall beeasily accessible.

General noticesR This equipment will be inoperable

when mains power fails.R When a failure occurs which results

in the internal parts becomingaccessible, disconnect the powersupply cord immediately and returnthis unit to an authorised servicecentre.

R To minimise the possibility oflightning damage, when you knowthat a thunderstorm is coming, werecommend that you unplug the ACadaptor from the AC power outlet.

noise-free communications, placeyour hub:– at a convenient, high, and central

location with no obstructionsbetween the product and hub inan indoor environment.

– away from electronic appliancessuch as TVs, radios, personalcomputers, wireless devices, orother phones.

– facing away from radio frequencytransmitters, such as externalantennas of mobile phone cellstations. (Avoid putting the hubon a bay window or near awindow.)

R If the reception for a hub location isnot satisfactory, move the hub toanother location for better reception.

EnvironmentR Keep the product away from

electrical noise generating devices,such as fluorescent lamps andmotors.

R The product should be kept freefrom excessive smoke, dust, hightemperature, and vibration.

R The product should not be exposedto direct sunlight.

R Do not place heavy objects on top ofthe product.

R When you leave the product unusedfor a long period of time, unplug theproduct from the power outlet.

R The product should be kept awayfrom heat sources such as radiators,cookers, etc. It should not be placedin rooms where the temperature isless than 0 °C or greater than 40 °C.Damp basements should also beavoided.

R Operating the product near electricalappliances may cause interference.Move away from the electricalappliances.

Setup overview1 Initial setup

Make sure you can access thesystem using your mobile device.For details, refer to the SystemSetup Guide included with yourhub.

2 ConnectionConnect the smart plug to thepower outlet and connect thedesired electric device to the smartplug.

Note:R You can turn the power supplied to

the smart plug’s power outlet on andoff by pressing M N.

R When connecting a device with alarge AC plug, use a short extensioncord so that the AC plug of theconnected device does not block theLED indicator/M N.

Note about connectionsR The smart plug should be connected

to a vertically oriented orfloor-mounted AC outlet. Do notconnect the smart plug to aceiling-mounted AC outlet, as theweight of the smart plug may causeit to become disconnected.

R If the electric device connected tothe smart plug draws more than10 A or 2,400 W of power, the smartplug will turn off automatically.

R In the event of a power failure, thesmart plug may not turn back onafter power is restored. For thisreason, connecting refrigerators orother devices that require constantpower supply should not beconnected to the smart plug.

R After connecting an electric deviceto the smart plug, make sure thesmart plug is firmly connected to thepower outlet.

Registering thesmart plugThis procedure is not required fordevices that were included as part ofa bundle.

Before you can use the smart plug, itmust be registered to the hub.If you purchased devices separately(i.e., not as part of a bundle), you mustregister each device to the hub.

You can register each device by usingthe registration buttons or the [HomeNetwork] app.

Using registration buttons1 Hub:

Press and hold M OTHERDEVICEN until the LED indicatorblinks in green.

2 Smart plug:Press and hold M N until theLED indicator blinks in green(page 7).R When registration is complete,

the hub sounds one long beep.Note:R To cancel without registering the

smart plug, press M N on the huband on the smart plug again.

R If registration fails, the hub soundsseveral short beeps.

Using the appWhen you register the smart plug byusing the [Home Network] app, youcan assign a name to your devices andgroup them by location. For moreinformation, refer to the User’s Guide(page 10).

WirelesscommunicationrangeThe wireless communication range ofeach device in the system from the hubis approximately 50 m indoors andapproximately 300 m outdoors.Wireless communication may beunreliable when the following obstaclesare located between the hub and otherdevices.R Metal doors or screensR Walls containing aluminium-sheet

insulationR Walls made of concrete or

corrugated ironR Double-pane glass windowsR Multiple wallsR When using each device on

separate floors or in differentbuildings

Note:R The LED indicator blinks in red if it is

out of range of the hub. In this case,confirm all connections, includingthose of the hub.

Testing the smartplugAfter you have installed the [HomeNetwork] app on your mobile device,you can use your mobile device to turnthe smart plug on and off. For moreinformation, refer to the User’s Guide(page 10).1 From the [Home Network] app

home screen, tap [Plug].2 Select the [Individual] tab.3 Tap the desired smart plug’s icon.

R Confirm that the selected smartplug turns on and off when youtap its icon.

You can turn the electric device onand off remotely, even when awayfrom home.

– Sensor integrationYou can configure the system to turnthe electric device on when a sensoris triggered. (Sensor required.)

– Timer on/offYou can configure a timer to turn theelectric device on and off at thedesired times.

– Excess power notificationThe smart plug can monitor thepower supplied to the connected

electric device. If overcurrent oroverwattage is detected, the smartplug sends a notification to the[Home Network] app.
