PythonsSnakes are a kind of reptile, which means they have cold blood and scales. Some snakes are as small as a coin and others are as long as a bus! Pythons are a type of snake.

HabitatPythons like to live in places that are warm. They need to live in warm places because they have cold blood, which means they are found in deserts and jungles. Living in the jungle gives them plenty of places to hide. They usually hide in trees or under leaves on the ground. Pythons have patterned skin which helps them to blend in with the leaves and bark.

DietPythons do not eat fruit or plants. They eat small animals like rats and lizards. Some pythons are very big, so they will catch bigger animals. Pythons will hide in the trees or leaves and wait for a small animal to pass. They will jump out quickly to catch it. They squeeze the animals and then swallow them whole.

Fun Facts• Pythons can live for up to 40 years.

• Pythons are very good swimmers.

• Some pythons will hide in the high branches of trees and will catch birds as they fly past.

• There are 26 different types of python.

Did I ever tell you about the time that an alien landed in my garden? It was a warm, sunny day. I saw a rocket in the pond. There was smoke coming out of it. A very strange creature was standing next to it and it looked quite cross. It had a blue, furry body and green skin. I went outside.

“Can I help you?” I asked shyly. “My rocket has crashed!” he said. I found some tools and helped him to fix his broken rocket. “Thank you!” said the alien with a big grin. Then he blasted off in his rocket. A few days later, I found a parcel on my windowsill...

Repeated printing

You will need:

• Cardboard (thick and thin – use from recycling where possible).

• Paint

• Scissors

• Paper

• Glue

• Pencil

1. Cut out a rectangle of card. Using a pencil draw a simple

design onto your card. Don’t make it too small or complicated.

Include flowers / birds / leaves.

2. Cut out the shapes of your design and glue the different parts

onto your rectangle tile. You are creating a stamp. Leave it to

dry overnight.

3. When you are happy with your stamp – select your colour (or

colours if you are feeling brave! It can look more effective with

just one colour). You will need some clear paper or card.

4. Paint onto the stamp – you need enough paint on the stamp

to print.

5. Press your stamp down onto your paper. Hold firmly and

carefully lift off.

6. Repeat the process using the same colours until your page is

full.

7. Leave to dry.
