SUNDAY’S REFLECTION: How Do We Treat The Messenger? Let’s not be too hasty in defining who is “the wick-ed one” and who (namely us) is just! We are very quick to label others as evil, because we tend to label our-selves as good guys. We don’t like it when we are brought up short by a prophetic voice that brings us some bad news about our own behavior. We don’t like to be reproached for transgressions of the law or charged with violations of our training. We may condemn and abuse those who bring us up against these truths about ourselves when, if we were really good, we would thank them for helping to keep us on the right path. This is the way they treated the prophets and the way they treated Jesus. Is this also the way we treat those whose message we don’t like?

REST IN GOD’S ETERNAL LOVE & PEACE:

Our Parish Community wishes to extend our sympathy to the family and friends of all the faithful departed especially Bob Ault.

Greetings to all catechists, parents, students, and volunteers in the Faith Formation Program.

This year, the catechetical theme is “Enlisting Witnesses for Jesus Christ.” Our Lord, Jesus Christ, invites each one of us, regardless of age, language, or ethnicity, to continue to deepen our love for Him. First, we become His witnesses. Then, with God’s grace, we can intro-duce Christ to our friends, family, and enlist more witnesses for Jesus. You don’t have to be a famous person or do big things in order to be a witness for Christ. You can just live your daily life with great love for God and for the Church. Christ counts on you! We are entering our new school year of 2018-2019 in which I warmly welcome all catechists, parents, sponsors, students and volunteers to this joyous and graced-filled year. Together, we will learn to live our lives authentically and to “enlist wit-nesses for Jesus Christ.” Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Sr. Annuncia Thu Mai, LHC Director

G reetings Holy Spirit Church Family, Over the years, the Parish Office has been called up-on for referrals for caterer, to handyman, plumber, elderly care, food services, etc…

We know and recognize that there are many talented parishioners; and we would like to promote and share YOUR gift, skill, business, and/or expertise with our Church Family. Our Parish annual Ministry and Organization Directory would be a great place to share your tal-ent and service with other parishioners. You have already contributed your time and treasure, now let us share your talents as well. We would like to limit this advertisement opportunity to Holy Spirit Church members only.

If you or your business would like to participate, please email [email protected] or drop your busi-ness card to the Parish Office. If your business pro-vides a percentage back to the Church, it will be not-ed in your ad. The deadline will be on September 30. A suggested donation of $100 will help with the printing cost. Net proceeds will be donated to Our Lady of Grace Pastoral Center. The directory will be published and distributed in mid – October during Stewardship Weekend. If you have questions, please email or call Agnes Pham at the Parish Office.

October is Respect Life Month. The annual National Life Chain will be held on Sunday, October 7, 3:00 - 4:00pm. This hour of peace-ful, silent prayer is a public witness to our community that abortion is wrong and that the church is op-posed to the killing of unborn chil-dren.

The Respect Life Committee invites you to line the sidewalks along Euclid and Warner, forming a cross. Prayer signs for participants to hold will be made available. For more information, please call Nelly Protzner at 714-316-6844.
