INTRODUCTION

The book of Acts reads better than any modern novel. It has clearly definedcharacters–some in leading roles and others as supporting cast. It has action,adventure,triumphandtragedy.ThesceneschangefromJerusalemtoDamascustoAntiochtoRome,fromprisoncellstoshipwrecks.WeencounterthewindoftheHolySpiritandtheemboldenedpeasantapostleswhomovedinphenomenalmiracles and baffled government leaders of their day. However, these greatapostleswerenotalwaysdistinguishednordidtheyalwaysactnobly.

I was startled when I read in Mark 16:8 that the disciples, before Jesusascendedtoheaven,didnotbelieve.ThesameunbeliefisfoundinMark16:11.Then, twoverses later inverse13, the same fourwords– theydidnotbelieve.Again,inverse14,thesamefourwords–theydidnotbelieve.Theywereabunchofunbelievers!Butwhatamazesmemostisthefactthatinthenextverse,verse15,Jesussaidtotheseunbelievingandfearfulbelievers,“GointoalltheworldandpreachtheGospeltoeverycreature.”IfIhadbeenthere,pleaseallowmetosaythis,IwouldhaveapproachedJesusfrombehindandwhisperedintoHisear,“Master, Lord, don’tYou know that the disciplesYou just gave the SupremeCommissiontoareabunchofunbelievers?Theywillneverbeabletodoit.”Ithink Jesus would have turned around, put His finger over His lips and saidquietlytome,“Bonnke, youdon’tknowthatIhaveasecret.”

TheHolySpirit and theGospelofChrist’s redeeming loveare inseparablytied together in the bundle of life. If youwant to see the power ofGod, thenignore all the techniques, manipulation and psycho-suggestion and simplypreach the Word! That is where the power of God is released–right in theGospel.IdonottakeonlyonethingoutofGod’streasurechest.IproclaimthewholeGospel,whichcontainseverythingthatwehumanbeingsneed–salvation,forgiveness,healingpeace,hopeanddeliverance.

FOUNDINGDOCUMENTS

The Bible is the constitution of the Kingdom of God. No majority of anyparliament on earth, no earthly government or SupremeCourt can change it.Democratic vote or consensus does not decideBible truth. “Forever,OLord,Yourword is settled in heaven” (Psalm119:89). Jesus said,“I am the truth”(John14:6).

The Divine nature is not just supernatural; it is miraculous. Jesus said, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has comeupon you” (Acts 1:8). Without that vitality, we have a secularized, rationalized and harmless religion. Mystical contemplation bears noresemblancetoNewTestamentdynamism;quietismisforBuddhists, notChristians.Don’tholdback!
