Good People of Holy Cross, Why do we bring our needs to our God? Because we believe God loves us more than we can imagine. Because we trust in God’s wisdom and power. Because we are dependent upon God for every good thing. Because we are in God’ hands; every second of every day. Because we need to put into words the deepest longings of our hearts. Because we trust that God will give us everything we need. Because we are changed simply through the act of asking. We ask, seek, and knock simply because God asks us to, simply because God desires this of us, simply because it opens us up to every good thing God wants for us and speaking that helps each of us remain open to an outpouring of God’s life which has the power to change absolutely everything. A few Random things from The Pastor’s Desk
The DUE DATE is coming for all parishioners who made a pledge to “Renovating our hearts/Renovating
our Sanctuary” on August 15th, 2019. As of this printing we have an outstanding amount of $40K. I
certainly understand financial situations change, and do not wish to pressure anyone, this is only a
gently reminder of what you pledged two years ago. When the middle of August arrives, we will officially
close this campaign, and do our best to make ends meet! If you are in question as to whether your
pledge is complete please fell free to call the office and we will be happy to check for you.

The roof, you ask! Good question. First, thanks to all who went over and above their renovation gift to
assist us with this much needed repair. The roofers were supposed to begin July 3rd, then it was
moved to July 16th, now they are saying August 3rd. Weather, particularly rain has them back logged
on jobs and they assure me, weather permitting, we are “next” on their busy schedules. IF all goes well
and they do not find any other issues up there, the total cost will be $130K. This will be offset by your
generous of $100k. We then need to do some repairs inside our church where there has been water
damage. You truly are wonderful people!

I am thinking about pews throughout our church. The pews/chairs we have are 45 years old, and now
may be the time to tackle this update. Stay tuned!

I always appreciate your comments, insights, concerns, and hope you feel free to express these to me
personally, or in writing. Yesterday I received this message:
THANK YOU for allowing the Hispanic community to use the soccer field with their tent!! When I drove up
just now for 5:30 Mass and saw all those families enjoying life together it made me SO happy after seeing so
many immigrant/refugee families separated and incarcerated in the news!! I do not care if their cars take up
half this section of the parking lot today and I’m so thankful you don’t either! I love their ice-cream trucks
during their games. I love how some women, men and children leave the game intermittently to pray before
Our Lady's statue ~ SO beautiful and what a witness to us gringos!! They suffer so much but remember to pray
and give thanks with flowers and candles without any self-consciousness! I love how church-prayer-play is
together for them! It gives such a great picture of the joy of the Lord ~ and Heaven! Thank you for loving them
~ it makes me proud of Holy Cross! ⚽
I cannot express how happy this message made me, and how insightful of its author, oh that all would
look for such visions of heaven on earth right around us!

Se acerca la FECHA DE VENCIMIENTO para todos los feligreses que se comprometieron con
"Renovandor nuestros corazones/Renovando nuestro santuario", eso será el 15 de agosto de 2019. A
partir de esta impresión, tenemos una cantidad pendiente de $40K. Ciertamente entiendo que las
situaciones financieras cambian, y no deseo presionar a nadie, esto es solo un recordatorio de lo que
prometió hace dos años. Cuando llegue la mitad de agosto, cerraremos oficialmente esta campaña y
haremos todo lo posible para llegar a fin de mes. Si tiene dudas sobre si su compromiso
está completo, no dude en llamar a la oficina y estaremos encantados de verificarlo.

¡El techo, se preguntarán! Buena pregunta. Primero, gracias a todos los que hicieron un esfuerzo
adicional con su regalo de renovación para ayudarnos con esta reparación tan necesaria. Se suponía
que los techadores debían comenzar el 3 de julio, luego se trasladó al 16 de julio, ahora dicen el 3 de
agosto. El clima, particularmente la lluvia, los ha hecho que se les acumulen los trabajos y me

¡GRACIAS por permitir que la comunidad hispana use el campo de fútbol con su carpa! ¡Cuando conduje justo
ahora para la misa de las 5:30 y vi a todas esas familias disfrutando de la vida juntos, me hizo tan feliz después
de ver en las noticias a tantas familias inmigrantes/refugiadas separadas y encarceladas! ¡No me importa si
sus autos ocupan la mitad de esta sección del estacionamiento hoy y estoy muy agradecido de que a usted
tampoco! Me encantan sus camiones de helados durante sus juegos. Me encanta cómo algunas mujeres,
hombres y niños abandonan el juego intermitentemente para rezar ante la estatua de Nuestra Señora ~ ¡Tan
hermoso, y gran testimonio para nosotros los "gringos"!! Ellos sufren tanto, pero recuerdan orar y dar gracias
con flores y velas sin ninguna timidez! ¡Amo cómo la iglesia-oración-juego está unido para ellos! ¡Da una gran
imagen de la alegría del Señor ~ y el Cielo! Gracias por amarlos ~ ¡Me hace sentir orgulloso de Holy Cross!"

Part-time Youth Minister Needed:
Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tucker, GA is seeking a part-time Youth Minister with responsibilities for
overseeing our High School Teen Program as well as our Confirmation Program, Youth Retreats and
Community Service Projects. This person should be a self-starter who will take initiative to build up
ministry among our youth. This position works in collaboration with the Director of Religious Education
to develop and integrate faith formation and youth ministry initiatives to serve our high school teens.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Knowledge of Spanish could be an advantage.

Registration for the 2019-2020 Faith Formation Year:
Registration for the 2019-2020 faith formation year began on Sunday, April 28th, 2019 and run through August 11th, 2019. You may register online at the following link https://form.jotform.com/90835571137157 or in person Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am-4:00 pm in the Faith Formation Office. The last Sunday to register is August 11th from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. We encourage families to register online and avoid having to come in to register.

La inscripción para el año de formación de fe comenzo el domingo 28 de abril hasta el 11 de agosto de 2019. The Troop Support Ministry will be collecting before and after Masses today.
Holy Cross has sent more than 3600 CARE packages to our troops deployed in harms way
and they greatly appreciate it.
We thank you all for your incredible generosity.
Jesus Needs You, We need you! Recruiting volunteers is a never-ending adventure in most ministries and I think that is exactly how it designed to work best. When we cease looking for new volunteers, it may indicate that we have settled for “what already is” and not “what it still can be.” Ministries are open to all age groups. Everyone is busy with work, families and other commitments, however, as disciples we all should be looking for ways to participate in church life. If Jesus was wise enough to choose a team of people who had different life experiences, to be on His team of disciples every ministry can use people from different life experiences. We need: Lectors – to read God’s word at every Mass Eucharistic Ministers – to assist the priest in distributing communion Ushers -take up collection, and be available in case of a ER. O Jesus, eternal Priest, keep your priests, especially <name of priest>
within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may touch them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body.
Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with Your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.
Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and
consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.
