PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings HR Colleagues:
I can't believe I'm writing again about atragedy in our community. A little over ayear ago, the Columbia Mall shootingshook our confidence about being safe atwork. Now, our Baltimore community'stragedy over unresolved pain andfrustration with how human life is valuedhas brought us here to consider how shouldwe, as an HR community, react when a lifeis lost because of decisions that will haunt those involvedforever. None of us can sit back and just be a bystander. Action must occur. Every SHRM Chapter in good standingconducts activities that can have a positive impact on thecommunity. So what can your Chapter (or you!) do to be partof a solution in Baltimore or in your own community? HR canhave a meaningful impact through resume reviews/writing,business clothing drives, 50/50 raffles with donations toward

May 21, 2015 Meeting: 2015 Legislative Session Update Please plan to join us at our next monthly meetingfor a presentation by HoCo HRS Legislative Chair,Cheryl Brown of Davis, Agnor, Rapaport & Sklanly.
This meeting will update chapter members on allMaryland labor and employment changes and billsthat passed during the legislative session. Therewill also be a report on any Federal labor andemployment changes to date. It will provide insightinto to future bills and/or changes and explain howemployers can maintain compliance.
The Legislative Update is always a very popularmeeting as it provides practical information for HRpractitioners and business owners. We lookforward to seeing you there.
This presentation has been approved for 1.5 SHRMCP and SHRMSCP Professional Development creditsand 1.5 HRCI general credits.
