Economy, efficiency and ecology – theseare the demands that modern-day intralogisticsmust meet

The right decisionIf you want to improve your intra-logistics concept and reduce costs, you should talk to the specialistsat Hänel first. They will work withyou to develop your own ‘tailor-made intralogistics concept’.

Optimal parts managementThe state-of-the-art Hänel micro-processor controllers can be usedas stand-alone inventory manage-ment systems or communicatewith customers’ own data pro -cessing systems.

An up-to-date overview of inven-tory is ensured at all times.

Work time slashedThe Hänel Lean-Lift® brings therequested item automatically tothe access area in seconds, whereit can be retrieved at the optimumergonomic height.

Goods to man is the motto insteadof man to goods. Access times areradically reduced and order-picking performance substantiallyimproved.

With the Hänel Lean-Lift® we offeryou a first-class, high-tech systemfor storage organization and mate-rials handling that saves time, storage space and costs, and enables a much more efficientworkflow.

Live demonstration ofCO2 savings with theHänel EcoDrive at theCeMAT trade fair

Ergonomic and safeThe ergonomic design minimizesthe physical strain for employees atwork. And Hänel goes far beyondthe requirements of today’s safetystandards.

We are committed toenvironmental protectionIt goes without saying that pro-duction at our three plants meetsthe latest environmental guidelinesand even exceeds them. Only en-vironmentally friendly, recyclablematerials are used. But it’s notonly the production that lives up to Hänel’s ecological principles –even the Hänel Lean-Lift® itselfdoes so. Moreover, the HänelEcoDrive makes a contributiontoward reducing CO2 emissions.

EfficiencyCountless companies throughoutthe world use the Hänel Lean-Lift®

to increase the cost-effectivenessof their warehousing and materialshandling.

Hänel also offers customized special features to get even moreefficiency out of the Hänel Lean-Lift®.

One highlight is the HänelEcoDrive – efficient energy recovery with the Hänel Lean-Lift®.

Over 60 % more spaceThe Hänel Lean-Lift® uses the available room height – in a similarway to a high-bay warehouse orminiload system. Unlike these, however, it stores parts in height-optimized positions so that nospace is lost. This produces maxi-mum storage capacity on a mini-mal footprint.

This in turn saves costs and helpsto utilize the area dedicated to stor-age more economically.

4

The automated ‘high-baywarehouse in a cabinet’The Hänel Lean-Lift® is both storage rationalization and goodsprotection in one: At the center ofthis closed system is a computer-controlled positioning lift – the‘extractor’. In front of it and behindit are the storage shelves. This iswhere the articles are stored incontainers in height optimizedpositions.

The storage locations are accessedautomatically under electroniccontrol by means of the extractor, which stores or retrieves therequested container.

The goods are then delivered tothe retrieval area at the correctergonomic height.

This ingenious principle findsapplications in a wide variety ofindustries. Used in the medicaltechnology and electrical engineer -ing sectors (for which ESD ver-sions are possible) and also in theautomotive, aircraft and pharma-ceutical industries or in mechan-ical engineering, the mail-orderand wholesale trades – the Lean-Lift® is the ideal buffer, dispatch, production or tool store, to namebut a few sectors that demonstrateits versatility.

Our specialists would behappy to show you referencesfrom your line of business –just send us an inquiry.

Cool systemsAutomated storage in a controlled atmosphere

The quality requirements that con-sumer and industrial goods have tomeet are becoming increasinglystringent and far-reaching. Manyproducts today, ranging from fra-gile components in the electronicsindustry (such as the delicate sur-faces of semiconductor products)to sensitive substances in the chemical and pharmaceutical in-dustries, need to be stored undervery specific, defined conditions.

With its automated DryStore® andClimateStore® systems, Häneloffers future-oriented solutions thatare suitable for all air-controlledenvironments.

The systems are flexible and can be free-standing or installedso that they dock into existingrooms.

Optimum solutions for storage in temperature-controlled and dry-air environments!

Illustrated on the opposite page is a Hänel ClimateStore® Lean-Lift®,networked with other Lean-Lifts®. It is used to stock temperature-sensitive medicines at a constant 5 degrees Celsius.

The efficacy of the climate chamb eris ensured by an automatically closing door and the Hänel high-speed door.

Depending on the traversing rate, up to 40 % of the energy fed in previously for the upward run can be returned to the supply network!

Hänel EcoDriveCO2 reductions thanks to efficient energy recovery

Maximum security of the storage articles, no limitation to theheight of the storage goods, and optimal ergonomics – anotherstroke of innovative genius from Hänel!

Usually the articles in a pick listare located on different storagecontainers. With Hänel’s Pre-Store-Buffering®, the time needed toaccess consecutive containers isconsiderably reduced.

While the operator takes the requir -ed articles from container q in theaccess point, the extractor isalready bringing container w to astorage location directly behindthe access point (this location canbe pre-defined as required).

Hänel Pre-Store-Buffering®

Time saved by automatic buffering

Hänel, the inventor of the extractor with double container placement, has perfected this system and developed the HänelLean-Lift® in DualDrive® design.

The new Hänel Lean-Lift® inDualDrive® design boosts order-picking performance substantially.Pick lists with articles stored ondifferent containers can be proces-sed at a considerably higherspeed.

This saves time and thereforecosts!

Hänel DualDrive®

Double the performance

The new Hänel EcoDrive helps tosave energy and consequently toreduce costs. A new kind of fre-quency converter uses the energyof the descending extractor andconverts it back into electricalenergy. This is then fed back into

the supply system and can beused elsewhere, for example onother Lean-Lifts® in a network.

Hänel Lean-Lift®

Maximum efficiency in intralogistics

39

A component of Hänel’s high-speed-picking concept is the Hänel Pick-o-Light® system for quickly finding the required articles

An LED array is integrated into thepanel above the access opening ofthe lift. A colored LED directs abeam of light onto the requestedarticle so that it is identifiedunmistakably and unequivocally.

This ensures maximum efficiencyand reliable selection during orderpicking.

Hänel Pick-o-Light-Vario® forvariable container divisions:

Alternatively, if container divisionsare variable, items can be identi-fied via a free-moving Vario unitwith 4 integrated LEDs.

Hänel Pick-o-Light® systemA new way to identify storage locations

Hänel camera solutionVisual representation of the container inventory

With the photographic information, articles on a container canbe identified directly at the control unit or in HänelSoft®

One or more cameras are inte-grated in the Hänel Lean-Lift® peraccess point. Each time a pick orput operation is performed, an up-to-date container photo is taken.

The container photo is displayedat the control unit.

This guarantees an optimal visualoverview of the storage situationat all times.

A defined number of pictures isarchived per container so thatinventory changes on the con-tainer can be tracked.

40

We see customer support and the legendary Hänelcustomer service as our obligation

The Hänel Rotomat® is the optimal filing systemfor office and administration.

Folders, index cards or files – the Hänel Rotomat®

keeps them all in order. It finds the right file from among thousands of hanging folders andretrieves it in seconds. The powerful Hänel micro-processor control systems enable the Rotomat®

to be networked directly with a PC.

All Rotomat® office carousels are also available ina version suitable for disabled operators.

Each Hänel Rotomat® is designed according tothe tried-and-tested Ferris wheel model (verticalcarousel principle) which means: goods to manand not man to goods.

The compact construction enables up to 60 %more storage capacity to be created on a mini-mal footprint by making use of the availableroom height. No two Hänel Rotomats® are thesame, because each task demands a preciselydefined solution.

The Hänel Lean-Lift® is both storage rationaliza-tion and goods protection in one: At the center ofthe ‘cabinet’ is a computer-controlled positioninglift – called the ‘extractor’. In front of it andbehind it are the storage shelves. This is wherethe articles are kept in containers.

The storage locations are accessed automatic-ally under electronic control by means of the extractor, which stores or retrieves the requestedcontainer. The goods are then delivered to theretrieval area at the correct ergonomic height.

Hänel has optimized the principle of 3-axis storage systems with the Hänel Multi-Space®. In addition to the many advantages of the HänelLean-Lift® technology, the Hänel Multi-Space®

offers maximum flexibility, speed and use ofspace.

With its advanced technology, Hänel is able tooffer a 3-axis storage system over 9 m in width. The Hänel Multi-Space® can even be varied inwidth and height once installed – an innovationfrom Hänel!

Even the number of retrieval points is variableand can be changed at any time.

Our strength lies in our know-how. Because onlyobject-related, practice-oriented microprocessorcontrol units can offer you a complete storagemanagement system. Hänel storage systems canalso be controlled via a computer interface, of course. Hook-up to enterprise resource planningsystems is no problem. Hänel also offers softwaresolutions for individual requirements.

The Hänel Lockomat® is the ideal storage system for safe and secure provisioning of small parts, tools, electronic components, medicines, etc.
