ADELAIDE & METROPOLITAN MALAYALEE ASSOCIATION (A Caring, Collaborative & Culturally rich Indian Community)
News & Views ISSUE NO: 38 AUTUMN EDITION June 2011
I take this opportunity to acknowledge the commitment, support and co-operation extended by my committee members, sub-committee members as well as their family members and the volunteers that enabled us in successfully organising various programs. I also take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the sponsors and well-wishers for bestowing their support to our community initiatives during last two years.
I believe that “Perfection is not attainable, but if you chase perfection, you will catch excellence”.
While looking forward, now it is the turn of a new team to lead our community further ahead by preserving our rich tradition & cultural values. I now call up on the enthusiastic AMMA family members with innovative thoughts & ideas to come forward in the leadership roles and to involve youths at the grass root level in our journey towards building a cohesive, harmonious, progressive and sustainable society.
I take this opportunity to invite you all to our 13th Annual General body Meeting to be held at the Slovenian community hall on Saturday, 23rd July 2011 and look forward to meeting you there.
With best regards
Prem Panicker
Dear Friends & AMMA Family Members,
While, I‟m keying in the last message as the President of AMMA, I wish to take few moments to revisit the shared vision the outgoing management committee co-created and embarked on in August 2009. It was our mission to lead our community to move forward in its journey from Good to Great.
Glancing through our portfolios – cultural, sporting and social programs that we had during last two years; with the introduction of several new initiatives and by maintaining traditional programs, we have been able to involve our community members of all ages with diverse skills and talents. Further, through effective team work and commendable support from the enthusiastic volunteers we have been able to create a benchmark in our performances towards enhancing our community‟s reputation, fostering a progressive and sustainable future. Today, AMMA community is widely recognised as one among the best immigrant communities not only in Adelaide, but in entire Australia. This is indeed a matter of pride for every AMMA family member that we have evolved as a caring, collaborative and culturally rich community, while encouraging cultural diversity.

Over 900 art lovers in Adelaide witnessed the spectacular event that featured cultural performances not only from the Indian sub-continent, but also from other parts of the globe. EDITORIALEDITORIALEDITORIAL
Dear Readers,
We are almost halfway through
the year. The memories of
summer are a distant afterglow
and winter is upon us.
Soon nearly every household will
have unwelcome visitors in the form of winter bugs.
Winters need not necessarily be a season of sniffles and
teary eyes. Keep yourselves warm and top up your intake
of vitamin C.
This is going to be the last editorial from this committee,
as the new committee is forming after the AGM on July
23rd. On behalf of AMMA management committee I
thank you for all your support and please keep up with the
good work with the new committee as well.
Once again thanks for all your support and see you all at
the AGM.
Regards,
Asha Thomas
