the Central Luzon Doctors Hospital Educational Institution(CLDHEI) is a non-sectarian

institution established in 1976 by the Central Luzon Doctors' Hospital (CLDH) through the

leadership of its founder, president and chairman of the board, the late Dr. Constante D. QuirinoSr. (photo left). Before CLDHEI, Tarlaqueos who wanted to become nurses needed to go to

schools in other provinces or in Manila, The establishment of the CLDH School of Nursing

provided students of the city and adjacent communities with an alternative educational institutionfor Nursing and allied services.

The school of nursing, later renamed Central Luzon Doctors' Hospital Educational Institution,

initially offered a three-year Graduate Nurse (GN) course followed soon afterwards by the two-year BSN Supplemental Course. In 1985, the school received its government recognition for the

four-year course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). It was not long

when other allied health courses, such as Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT),

Associate in Pulmonary Therapy, and Associate in Radiologic Technology, Midwifery, NursingAide and Medical Secretarial were offered. Two years later, permits were issued by CHED to

offer Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Radiologic

    Technology.

As the institution continued to upgrade its provisions for quality education to students, two more

para-medical courses, the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) and Bachelor of

Science in Pharmacy were introduced in 1998. These additional courses provided students withbetter alternative health professions to pursue other than the BSN. Simultaneously, the Graduate

School was established with the Master of Science in Nursing as its course offering.

Today, CLDHEI has not only grown in terms of the number of courses being offered but also in

its campus, facilities and services. As more and more students turn to CLDHEI as an alternative

to Manila schools, enrolment grew in health courses; classrooms were no longer enough to

accommodate all the students. In 2003, a new campus was opened in San Pablo, Tarlac City.

The new campus features improved student services such as air-conditioned classrooms, the

latest multi-media equipment for teaching, a three-story model hospital, spacious gymnasium, and laboratories complete with equipment, glassware and modalities, air-conditioned multimedia

based library and sport facilities. The school information system has been computerized and

faculty members have full access to the Internet and the school information system at the facultyroom via wireless technology. Even the cafeteria is spacious, clean and fully-airconditioned to

offer more comfort to the students and visitors.

The institution is committed to giving its best to its students and other stakeholders. It alwaysfinds ways to upgrade its facilities and employ highly-qualified faculty members. CLDHEI

continuously strives for improved recognition of its status as an alternative educational system in

the region not only in nursing and allied health services but also in other fields of higherlearning. It envisions itself to be the first private university in Tarlac in the near future.
