1. Why to hire a freelancesoftware developer

Software is a powerful tool. It can enable you to implement yourbusiness ideas or expanding you the horizon of your business tolevels which an unreachable to you today.

The problem is, you are a business man, a creative or someone whohas some other kind of talent but you are not a software developeryourself. Does that mean that you should not be able to use softwareto leverage your business? Should your ideas not be implementedbecause you do not want to spend the next 10 years learning howto program? I do not think so.

The solution is pretty clear: you should hire someone with thetechnical skills to bring to life your ideas.

Depending on the type and size of your business you have severalalternatives:

• if you are a large company, willing to spend hundreds ofthousand of dollars on software you may probably want tolook for an agency or a software company

• if your goal is to to create a start-up you may willing to lookfor a technical co-founder. The problem is that it is extremelyhard to convince a developer to work with you if you arebringing just an idea to the table. If you can bring connectionsandmoney you have better chances to get yourself a technicalpartner

• hire a freelance software developer. This is a solution thatpermits you to get your project done with a reasonableinvestment while keeping full ownership of your business

The problem is that it is not easy to find freelancers, and it is lesseasy to find decent freelancers.

Right now software has an incredibly large range of possibleapplications but the number of developers is relatively small. Thatmeans that it is seller market: developers do not need to promotethemselves to land gigs. So you are going to need a strategy to finddevelopers.

Once you have your candidates you have to select them, to workwith them on their proposal, to decide how much to spend and toget the most value how of your relationship with the developer.
