PNN EL COCUY@ Sierra Nevada del Cocuy located in the northeast part of the department Boyacá. It also extends into the departments of Arauca & Casanare.

This Andean forest boasts 1 of the highest peaks Ritacuba Blanco (5.330m /17.486ft) & certainly the largest glacier in Colombia (the lowest snowline= 4.800m/15.748ft high). There are numerous lakes & waterfalls. With its 30km/18mi long & more than 22 peaks this continuous mass of snow is the largest in the northern South America. It Is inhabited by the U'wa Indian tribe.

9 Nevada del Tolima (5215m/17109ft): The hike to this beautiful volcano & hot springs will take up to 3 days. Overnight possibilities in the mountains. Horse riding treks up there: Ask around in the center.

9 La Carbonera: Spectacular visit to colombia's largest wax palm forest high in the cordillera central surrounded by majestic mountains & natural habitat of some species in danger of extinction e.g. oso anteojos (bespectacled bear). Stay on the bus until the last stop, that's in front of the little office on the town's central plaza. Facing the office, you walk R, about 75m (246ft). Hostel Tralala is the white/orange building on the L corner, in front of the local hospital.
