Physician Demand For Medical Products Expands For Fifth Consecutive Quarter
U.S. medical product demand in the physician market continues to expand for the fifth consecutive quarter, according to the HIDA Physician Office Market Pulse™ volume-weighted utilization index. Demand expanded moderately in Q3 2016 with a positive index of 29.9, an increase from Q2 2016. Medical product demand growth was driven by national increases in patient volumes and medical supply spending, while medical equipment spending remained flat. Positive index readings indicate slight, moderate, or extreme market expansion, while negative readings show contraction. For more information, visit www.HIDA.org/MarketPulse.

Increased Flu Vaccine Delivery Planned For 2016
Manufacturers predict between 157 million and 168 million doses of injectable flu vaccine will be produced for the upcoming flu season, according to HIDA’s 2016-17 Influenza Vaccine Production & Distribution Market Brief. This marks a substantial increase from the 146.6 million doses shipped for the previous season. A notable shift this year came when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a recommendation against the FluMist Quadrivalent vaccine. Despite this recommendation, the vaccine is still approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Once again, physician offices were the most common place for vaccination for both adults (33.0%) and children (63.7%). To download your copy of the report, visit www.HIDA.org/FluBrief.
