With the aim of boosting the emirate’s business and economy, Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) unveiled its key initiatives at the International Conference of the CAI Dubai Chapter earlier this year.

HFZA was the principle sponsor of the two-day conference, themed ‘Powering the Business, Leading with Dynamism’, which was at-tended by speakers from the UAE and India. Accounting professionals debated on some of the most pressing challenges faced by them, particu-larly on unified accounting standards.

Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of Hamriyah Free Zone and Saif Zone - while addressing the inaugural session of over 12,000 attendees - said that there are 13,000 companies in the two free zones and more than 50% of these companies are from India or owned by Indians. “Both the free zones are committed to supporting Indian businessmen,” Al Mazrouei said and added that “Indian businessmen are the smartest in the world... they are aggressive, confident and creative, all of which are critical attributes for the success of any business.”

He also promised preferential treatment to chartered accountants in set-ting up new businesses in the free zones.

“This year’s theme reflects the motto the body has adopted for the last 32 years. Successfully managing a constantly growing organisation for three decades is, indeed, an extraordinary achievement,” said Al Mazrouei. The event saw India being showcased as an emerging global leader in multiple areas, most notably in economic growth, as various speakers observed that Indian chartered accountants have dominated the profession worldwide.

Raju Menon, President of ICAI Dubai Chapter, said that the trust enjoyed by chartered accountants in this part of the world was unparalleled and attributed the success of top business houses and entrepreneurs to the dedicated chartered accountants.

Speakers included Ali Ibrahim, DED Deputy Director-General; Shashi Tha-roor, former Indian minister; Kirit Somaya, Member of India’s Parliament; Anil Kumble, cricketing legend and Rajdeep Sardesai, celebrated Indian media personalities, among others.

amriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) participated in the four-day ‘Automation 2015’ exhibition held in Mumbai, India, in August 2015. The exhibition, which introduced new and upcom-

ing technology this year, covered topics such as robotics, automation, automation systems and automation technol-ogy, among others. The main focus was on factory automa-tion, building automation, industrial automation, electric automation, process automation and control system, field instrumentation and smart sensors, robotics and drives, bus

technologies, wireless technology, hydraulics and pneumat-ics, safety and security systems and automation in renew-able energy.

Organised by IED Communications Ltd with Mr. M Arokias-wamy heading the organisation, ‘Automation 2015’ attracted about 823 exhibitors and 45,552 visitors. The exhibition was a platform for users to find answers and solutions to their problems. Automation is the latest trend-ing technology in many fields especially in industries like manufacturing, control systems and mining. The revenue growth of global automation functions, has risen from $150 billion to $250 billion between 2010 and 2014. And the an-nual growth percentage rose to 55%, which clearly proves automation technology is here to stay.

Automation exhibition - founded in 2002 to showcase the new technologies, advancements , systems and services to the indian industry - was a biennial show until 2010 before becoming an annual event from 2011. Visitors gained insights about latest products and services on offer and met face-to-face with suppliers. Automation expertise was well represented and a wide variety of interna-tional exhibits were on display. Basheer, Ajeeb Moidunni, Ali Al Jarwan, Hashik KP represent-ed HFZA at the exhibition.

ne among the plethora of trade fairs Hamriyah Free Zone took part this year was PackEx India 2015, held in New Delhi in September.

The two-day fair saw packaging development professionals and decision makers from across industry sectors highlight the role of new technology in the packag-ing field. Today’s market believes in new product innovations and new packaging solutions and this is where exhibitions such as PackEx plays an important role.

It brings together the best in packaging material and ma-chinery, thus making it the most attractive platform for ex-hibitors and visitors alike. It is a great platform for buyers and sellers of technology in food, drinks, dairy confection-ary, snacks, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, FMCG and retail among others. A total of 466 exhibitors from over 30 countries presented their products and technologies last year, comprising 48%

of international brands.

amriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) took part in two exhibitions in Istanbul, Turkey, in September.

At the WorldFood Istanbul 2015 and Ipack Turkey 2015 held at CNR Expo, Istanbul from September

3-6, the representatives of HFZA held fruitful meetings with Turkish consultants.

The events saw more than 300 exhibitors representing 1,000 brands from more than 100 countries, exhibiting in sectors such as ‘food products’, ‘food technologies’, packing and food processing’ among others.

In fact, WorldFood Istanbul - the 23rd International Food Products & Processing Technologies Exhibition - is one of the largest and most successful food and packaging exhibitions in Turkey. The co-located event Ipack Turkey 2015 - the 30th International Packaging and Food Processing Systems Exhi-bition - is equally popular.

The visiting delegates and exhibitors took part in several seminars that were organised as part of the expo, such as ‘Cold Chain Logistics’, ‘Turkish Agriculture and Investment Opportunities’, ‘Plant Based Nutrition Technologies’, etc.

HFZA had more than five successful meetings with consult-ants based in Turkey. Mr. Abdul Aziz Dawood and Mr. Geo-mon George represented HFZA at the expos in Istanbul.

HFZA aims to continue building relationships with consult-ants and is looking forward to welcoming Turkish investors in the coming months.

However, as footfall of foreign visitors was low, participation in next year’s exhibition is a call to be taken.

“The success Crisp Food Company en-joys today would not have been pos-sible without the relentless support provided by the HFZA teams in all departments. We thank them for their assistance and help,” said Mr. Praveen.

Snacks play an important role in a

student’s diet. Of late, the number of calories consumed by children have risen significantly as they binge on comfort food.In fact, fruits and veggies are difficult to find place in children’s box so fun plates are the only option to make them tempting.

Alternatively, getting them involved

in packing their boxes will also go a long way in introducing healthy hab-its. For instance, letting them spread the dressing over cut veggies, will encourage them to taste the healthy food they otherwise would avoid.

Replacing store-bought juice with fresh juice and serving them in fancy bottles is another way to attract kids.

Flavors that offer value for moneyFFI Condiments Products

lavors Food Industry (FFI) - a HACCP certified manufacturer of con-diment products, which was established in 2003 - was taken over by a new management last year.

FFI is a professionally managed, customer-driven organisation that serves the retail, private label and food service sectors in the FMCG industry.

It currently pro-duces tomato ketchup, hot sauce, chilly sauce, chilly gar-lic sauce, rose

water, vinegar, tomato paste and is also the manufacturer of the Chilly Willy brand.

The company is all set to launch several products and brands during the Gulfood Exhibition 2016.

Gulf Petrochem firmly established itself into six strategic business units (SBUs); Oil trading & Bun-kering, Refining, Storage Terminals, Bitumen Man-ufacturing, Lubricants & Grease Manufacturing, Shipping & Logistics.

Under the leadership of Mr. Sudhir Goyel and with the executive management’s backing, the organi-sation employs 1100 people globally all dedicated towards delivering integrated solutions for their clients and creating unique value for stakeholders.

In May this year, the group also announced that it is now an officially licensed bunker supplier in the Port of Fujairah which will complement its growing global footprint in bunker supply which to date in-cludes Khor Fakkan and all other ports of the UAE, Gulf of Kutch, Indian ports of Kandla, Sikka and Va-dinar. The group’s highly advanced state- of- the- art new oil storage terminal in Hamriyah, Sharjah was commissioned in October 2015.

The group also owns a fleet of 11 vessels and a ded-icated shipping and logistics team giving it much better control over its entire supply chain.

Thus, the company that started off with a small re-fining unit which later was supported by oil stor-age terminals in Hamriyah, Sharjah & Fujairah, has performed tremendously well since then and now cater to customers globally through our offices in the U.A.E, Tanzania, Kenya, Singapore, United King-dom and India as well as a representative office in China and Columbia.

However, there is a lot of stress on eating healthy during the holy month of Ramadan, as people tend to overeat and consume the wrong kinds of food after the extended pe-riod of fasting.

Nutritionists and medical professionals alike call upon people to avoid oily food and stay hydrated.

Hospitality sector goes on an overdrive with lav-ish Iftar buffets. It is also a time of spending qual-ity time. Most corporates houses, too, schedule If-tar gatherings.
