1.0 INTRODUCTION
During September 18 through October 16, 1995, a diamond drilling program consisting of 3 ddh totalling 1046.57 meters was conducted on the Joa Option by Heath A Sherwood Drilling (1986) Inc. of Kirkland Lake.
The diamond drilling program on the Joa property was part of a larger program to test the Hemlo West - Joa Baritic Zone for potential Au mineralization.
A review of diamond drill core and previous work on the Baritic Zone, conducted in the spring of 1995 (see Hemlo West 1995 Report on Diamond Drilling for details) suggested the Baritic Zone to be a product of hydrothermal alteration, possibly focused along a significant structural break, with elevated trace elements similar to that seen at the Hemlo deposit.
A total of nine diamond drill holes were proposed to test portions of the Baritic trend for potential Au mineralization with three of the holes located on the Joa end of the Baritic Zone.
2.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS (Figure 1)
The Joa property is located in Pic Township, approximately 16 kilometres east of the town of Marathon and 18 kilometres west of the Hemlo deposit (Figure 1).
The Trans-Canada Highway transects the southern portion of the property and several logging roads access the northern part of the property. Holes J95-01 and 02, 02A were collared close to existing logging road, while J95-03 required a short skidder trail to be constructed off of the Melgund Lake access road.
3.0 PROPERTY DESCRIPTION (Figure 2)
Sixty-seven (69) unpatented contiguous single unit mining claims, listed below, comprise the Joa Option (Figure 2). The claims are located within the Thunder Bay Mining District and are listed on the Pic Township (G-630) claim sheet.
The property is held under option from Mr. Melvin Joa of Marathon, Ontario by Hemlo Gold Mines Inc. who can earn a 100?o interest subject to annual cash payments and an NSR agreement.

40 GEOLOGICAL SETTING
The Joa Option is located within the Archean Schreiber-Hemlo greenstone Belt which is part of the Abitibi-Wawa-Shebandowan Subprovince of the Superior Province. The area contains a dominantly east-west striking sequence of metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks bounded to the north and south by large granitoid plutons.
The supracrustal rocks underlying the majority of the property consist of tholeiitic basaltic flows with subordinate tuffs and epiclastic arkosic wacke and siltstone. Interbeds of intermediate to felsic volcanic tuffs and/or volcaniclastic sediments occur locally, and feldspar +I- quartz porphyry dikes and sills intrude both volcanics and sediments.
A zone of baritic rock, which varies from nearly massive barite to baritic cherty siltstone, associated with green mica-bearing rocks, graphitic and calc-silicate altered sediments, plus fragmental units occurs along a mafic volcanic l sedimentary contact. The zone strikes approximately east-west through the northern part of the adjoining Hemlo West property and extends for at least 800 meters into the Joa property. The baritic zone has been extensively drilled to generally shallow depths (-d 50m) along much of its strike length, although only one drill hole fully passed through the zone on the Joa property.
5.0 PREVIOUS WORK
The Joa Property has experienced considerable exploration since the discovery of the Hemlo deposit. Much of the work was concentrated on the eastern portion of the current property with the baritic trend receiving little attention.
The following is a chronological summary of the previous work performed on various portions of the Joa Option.

A total of 126 approximately 1.0m sections of drill core were split and assayed for Au with negligible results.
The diamond drill hole logs and assay results for each hole are contained in Appendices l through III.
6.2 Results
J95-01 was designed to test the Baritic Zone at approximately 250 meters vertical depth at the east end of the Baritic trend. A surface exposure of quartz flooding with disseminated molybdenite and anomalous gold (210ppb) hosted by sediments proximal to the Baritic trend would also be tested at depth in the hole.
The hole collared in a mafic to ultramafic volcanic unit with quartz veining containing minor disseminations of molybdenite, quite similar to the surface showing except approximately 175 meters south in the stratigraphy. The hole continued through interbedded units of mafic volcanic, minor ultramafic volcanic and argillaceous sediments (^/-graphite, pyrrhotite), and ended in a thick sequence of clastic sediments plus intermediate to mafic tuffs.
The Baritic Zone was not intersected in this hole, nor was there any significant alteration where the Baritic Zone was expected, suggesting the Baritic Zone alteration system is likely cut off (by a faun?) or terminates naturally (e.g. dies out) to the west of this drill hole.
Gold assays were quite low with the highest value being 12ppb Au.
J95-02, 02A was drilled to test the Baritic Zone at approximately 350 meters vertical depth in the area of a feldspar porphyry plug.
The drill hole started in a sequence of mafic and ultramafic volcanics with some argillaceous sediments and was lost at 200.25 meters as a result of rods and tropari equipment stuck in the hole. A wedge (J95-02A) was used to bypass the debris kicking off the pilot hole at a depth of 116.14 meters.
The wedge hole repeated some of the same stratigraphy and then drilled through interbedded units of mafic volcanic and clastic sediments plus 20 meters of feldspar porphyry with minor molybdenite in quartz stringers, 2.5 meters of Baritic Zone alteration with minor green mica and a trace of molybdenite in quartz veining, and ended in a sequence of fine grained clastic sediments and mafic tuffs.
The Baritic Zone was typical of that seen along strike to the west, although rather narrow with essentially no alteration extending into the hangingwall sediments or the footwall mafic volcanics.
The Au assays returned were again discouraging with a several anomalous values (12- 31ppb) from a feldspar porphyry dike and altered mafic volcanics with variable pyrrhotite, pyrite, plus traces of chalcopyrite and sphalerite plus molybdenite in quartz veining.
J95-03 was intended to test an IP chargeability conductor near the Black River, 1.45 kilometres east of J95-01. The hole drilled to 128.0 meters in overburden and then was lost because the casing would no longer turn. All water return was lost as well, so the hole was likely very close to bedrock. It would likely be possible to go down the casing with BQ and complete the hole as planned.
8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The results of the 1995 diamond drilling programs which tested the Baritic Zone on the Hemlo West and Joa properties indicate limited potential for economic gold mineralization along the Baritic trend. Consequently, no further work is recommended on the Baritic Zone, with the possible exception of completing hole J95-03.
The south-eastern part of the Joa Option which hosts numerous feldspar +I- quartz porphyry intrusives warrants a more thorough evaluation. Future work programs on the Joa Option should focus on this area which may have some potential for Hemlo type mineralization.
Respectfully submitted.
