Powerful Bender for 3 and 4 pt. RuleThe Helmold Heavy Duty Bender, whilesimilar in design and operation to ourStandard Bender, is a more powerful modelfor thicker rule – 3 pt., 4 pt. and higher. Likethe Standard Bender it has an adjustablestop that can be set in an instant, limitingmovement of the dies and enabling the userto readily make duplicate symmetricalbends. An adjustable side gauge, identicalto the one found on the Standard Bender, isalso included with this machine. It can beused on either side of the bender for locatingthe position of rule relative to the dies.

The Helmold Heavy Duty Bender has astandard 1¹⁄₄” high post that can accommo-date rule up to 1¹⁄₄” high and optionalmandrel sets designed for thicker rule. Thefront die holder is recessed, keyed and bolt-ed to eliminate springing and turning; andthe rear die holder slides out to accommo-date any required mandrel. Optional 1¹⁄₂”and 2” high posts that bend 1¹⁄₂” and 2” highrule are also available for this bender.

The Universal Die Room Benderfor 2 and 3 pt. RuleThe Helmold Standard Bender is practicallyin universal use wherever steel rule diesare made. It uses interchangeable maleand female dies to form rule into thedesired shapes without disturbing bendspreviously made.

This machine is designed for accuratelycutting steel rule to length and is extremelypowerful. It is rigidly constructed and willcut 6 pt. tempered rule. The Helmold RuleCutter is available in cutting heights of 1¹⁄₂”,2¹⁄₈” and 2⁷⁄₈”.

Equipped with front and rear gaugesgraduated by sixteenths, the front shortgauge allows a cut of 6” and the long backgauge permits cuts up to 24”. The kniveson this tool are readily removable forsharpening.

The Helmold E-Z Heavy Duty Notchercomes with either a 2-hole or 4-hole femalehouse. The 2-hole version is designed toeasily notch rule up to 6 pt. hard, 8 pt. soft,or rotary rule. The 4-hole version will easilynotch 2, 3 and 4 pt. rule and works withpre-bent materials. The small housing onthe 4-hole style make it a versatile andnecessary tool for most die shops.

Power-Assisted Notcher and Bender

Helmold's new power-assisted notchers and bendersare great tools for improving diemaker productivity.Both of these new machines use a unique pneumatic-assist to provide the power to effortlessly notch andbend rule, and thereby eliminate arm and shoulder fatigue.

The machines are designed around Helmold's popularE-Z Heavy Duty Notcher and the E-Z Heavy Duty Bender,and are capable of notching and bending up to 6 point rule.

The proprietary pneumatic actuator system providesproportional control which develops the required powerwithout sacrificing the "feel" diemakers are used to in hand-operated equipment.

The force developed by both the notcher and the benderis controlled by the diemaker using only finger-tip pressureon the machine handle. This modulated control, unlike asimple on/off control, provides the "feel" required in certainbending operations, and also eliminates the "slamming"in notching operations which can shorten knife life.

Since the machines are proven bender and notcherdesigns, there is no need for the diemaker to adapt to anew piece of equipment. And, the machines utilizestandard Helmold bender dies and notch knives. Thepneumatic cylindersin these machines have been specially designed for thisapplication to provide shift-after-shift of trouble-freeoperation, and are easily maintained.
