Hello, In this recording we will discuss ASHRAE Standards and its relevance to LEED Certification and LEED Exam Preparation

ASHRAE 90.1 is the Energy Standard for buildings except low rise residential buildings. It is mainly addressed in Minimum and Optimum Building Energy Performance. Projects should comply with mandatory requirements of ASHRAE 90.1 and should demonstrate atleast 5% reduction is energy cost compared to base line energy cost. The baseline energy cost is calculated as per Appendix G of ASHRAE standard. Projects reducing the energy cost beyond 5% can earn points under the credit Optimum Energy PerformanceASHRAE 90.1 is also addressed Sustainable Sites Light Pollution Reduction. The requirment is the exterior Lighting Power density should not exceed ASHRAE 90.1 limits

ASHRAE 62.1 is the standard for Ventilation for acceptable Indoor Air Quality. It is the reference standard for IEQ Minimum IAQ Performance and Enhanced Indoor Air Quality Performance

ASHRAE 55 is the standard for Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human occupancy. It is the reference standard of IEQ Thermal Comfort

ASHRAE 52.2 is the standard for filtration efficiency of filters used in HVAC equipment, it defines the testing procedure for MERV Rating ie Minimum Efficiency Reporting value. MERV 13 rated filters are required for AHUs to score points in IEQ Credit Enhanced Indoor Air Quality Performance. If the Air Conditioners are used during construction, temporary filters of MERV 8 rating is required to comply with IEQ Credit Construction Indoor Air Quality Performance
