WALT identify physical and human features

What is a Human Feature?

What is a Physical Feature?

A Physical feature is something that exists in the world naturally. It has not been made by a human but instead by nature.

For Example mountains and beaches. They weren’t made by humans they exist in nature.

A Human Feature has been made by people. It wouldn’t exist if a human hadn’t designed and created it.

For example factories and houses wouldn’t exist if a person hadn’t built them.

WALT identify physical and human features

Rainforests are very hot and wet. They have lots of tall trees.Exotic animals live there. They often have rivers, waterfalls and plants.

Deserts are very hot and dry.Not much can grow there because there isn’t much water. They are mostly made up of sand and have lots of hills called dunes.

Fields have lots of grass and sun because there aren’t many trees.Animals live here because they like to eat the grass.Fields are often flat but can have hills.

Swamps are very wet, most of the floor is made covered in deep water where animals like alligators live. The are hot and have lot of plants.

The Arctic is very cold – it is one of the coldest places on Earth.Because it is so cold, water freezes. So no plants can grow there.Instead there is lots of ice.

The Coral Reef is underwater. Lots of little fish and plants live and grow there.

When looking at 2D shapes we talk about their properties.

Sides – These are the lines on the outer part of the shape.

They can be curved sides

or

They can be straight sides

Vertices – These are where the sides meet, they often look pointy
