Science

at

DAS

Biology

This week our biology students

started on botany. Studying plant

anatomy and physiology as well as

how they’re classified. Expect a quiz

late next week.

8th Grade

8th grade is looking into the difference

between a scientific law, a scientific

theory, and a scientific hypothesis.

Hint: Theory doesn’t mean what you

think it does.

7th Grade

Our students started this week on

relationships between organisms.

Symbiosis is a huge part of ecology

and not just the basis for a great

movie based on a space alien and a

reporter.

REMEMBER

New year, new semester, new quarter, new start. You’re starting the

quarter with an A, all you have to do is keep it.

If you’re turning in late work online, please leave me a note in the turn-in

box so I know to look for it. Otherwise I likely won’t see it.

Don’t forget to get your money in for week of the arts.

Listen to the

experts, they’ll tell

you why it can’t be

done. Then do it.

-Robert Heinlein

Mr. Zehnder’s Math Class

Next Week: January 14 - January 18

Week of 1/07 in Review:

Algebra 1: We picked up from where we left off before the break by exploring exponential functions and

applying transformations to parent functions.

7th Grade Math & 7th Grade Advanced: We transitioned from simplifying algebraic expression to

solving one-step equations. We applied addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division properties of

equality to isolate and solve variables.

Pre-Algebra: We completed our unit on functions by exploring quadratic functions and real-life

applications. We created tables and graphed quadratic functions to visualize scenarios in gaming.

Next Week

Algebra 1: We will enter into our final week of the exponential functions unit and start our introduction

to geometric sequences. We will have a test on Friday, 1/18.

7th Grade Math & 7th Grade Advanced: We will apply our steps to solve one-step equations to

multi-step algebraic equations. We will have a quiz on Friday, 1/18.

Pre-Algebra: We will begin our Quarter 3 unit on Geometry. We will work up from points and lines to

triangles and the pythagorean theorem.
