customizationThe possibilities are endless— NSA can
customize almost every garment carried to
meet your company requirements.
WHY NSA?
In 1935 Wallace “Wally” Grossman graduated from school and realized employment wasn’t
going to be easy due to the economic conditions. As a result, he started a business in his
father’s basement where he began to manufacture Heat and Thermal protective apparel.
It wasn’t long before the business took off and his father, George, quit his job and began
working alongside his son. Together they started a successful family business during severe
economic conditions.
The family business has continued to grow over the years and is known today as, National
Safety Apparel. When asked about the history of NSA, Chuck Grossman, current owner
and President responded with: “Our business began with Heat and Thermal products
and the intent to provide the highest quality protective apparel for individuals working
in high heat environments. Today, we are a fourth generation family owned business that
understands the importance of safety, quality, comfort, and customization. We continue to
innovate and enhance our selection of products every day. Innovation is the core value that
drives us each day.”
At National Safety Apparel, we provide many advantages to help make your purchasing
decision easier. We are proud to manufacture in the U.S. and be certified to ISO 9001
with design, which allows us to offer product customization and personalization to any
of our products and the ability to develop products to best meet your specific needs and
hazards. Our outside sales team and inside customer service department are ready and
adept to address your needs, questions, and requests. Since 1935, workers across the
country have relied on NSA’s safety apparel and quality craftsmanship.
We have a solution for every need: our coats and aprons are available in multiple materials, styles, and sizes.
The aluminized layer on the outside of our flame resistant fabrics substantially increases protection from radiant heat and molten metal splash. The aluminized film acts as a mirror, reflecting radiant heat away from the user. Radiant heat protection is the major advantage that aluminized garments provide over other non-aluminized alternatives.
Why is aluminized protection
important?

Tally hoods, neck protectors, and aluminized hoods are some of our more common head protective items. Ranging from our traditional H58 style faceshield, to our new flip-up H-15, National Safety Apparel is modernizing the high heat industry product by product.
Tinted faceshields help to deflect radiant heat and keep the user safe from molten metal splash. Custom faceshield options include (but are not limited to): different tinted faceshields, vents, the material used and different styles.
What is the importance
of tinted faceshields?

We offer a wide range of high heat hand protection to provide safety against even the toughest applications. Choose from hand pads, mittens or gloves.
Straight Thumb (G51) Straight thumbed gloves are ideal for applications requiring dexterity and the use of different grips. Winged Thumb (G64) Wing thumbed gloves are designed to provide protection when holding something in the palm of the hand. Ambidextrous (G43/G44/G45) Ambidextrous gloves allow both sides to be used, helping to extend the life of the glove (not available in all materials).
This is the most often-asked question regarding our gloves and mittens. It is difficult to give an exact temperature range because heat resistance is so strongly dependent on 3 outside factors: duration of contact, shape of the object, and frequency of use.
Recognizing this difficulty in selecting the proper glove for each application, we have provided a selection guide on the following page.
What is the maximum
temperature that the glove or mitten can
endure?
HANDPROTECTION
OUR HAND PROTECTION TEST RESULTSMany manufacturers list the temperature at which the glove fabric begins to
fail. This however does not indicate the gloves ability to protect the user from
burns. Simply listing just the fabric failure temperature can be misleading and
does not give a true picture of the protective performance.
Therefore, we worked with independent 3rd party testing laboratories to
determine the protective performance of our gloves tested according to
ANSI/ISEA 105, American National Standard for Hand Protection Selection
Criteria to determine the maximum contact temperature at which each glove
and mitten protects against 2nd and 3rd degree burns.
