HEART 2 ARTCULTURAL ACTIVITY PROPOSAL
OVERVIEWHeart 2 Art intends to provide an open platform for creative minds to express themselves (by way of: dance, photography, music, painting, drawing, poetry, sculpture, and/or installations) without restriction in an intimate and artistically sensitive environment.Opportunity Many Broward College students have artistic abilities but lack a platform to express them There are limited venues where creative students can network with each other Disconnect between the student body and Broward College art departments/organizations
Objectives Bring creative students at Broward College together to both showcase and appreciate art
o Reach 90 – 100 students in attendance at evento Feature 3 different art forms, each represented by 3 to 4 artists – individually and/or
collaboratively Grant artists an occasion to network with one another and collaborate in future events
o Attain 300 additional Instagram and/or Facebook followers within 2 months before event day Provide Broward College North Campus Artfest an increased level of exposure and promotion through:
o Weekly table advertising and social media posting on Heart 2 Art’s Facebook and Instagram pages
Strategies Target 600 – 650 BC students via surveying and promotion combined
o Conduct short survey aimed at understanding student’s availability, interest in the differing arts and involve community in choosing new logo for Heart 2 Art
Develop email listing to assist in promotional effortso Blast with a variety of online flyers, event updates and reminders sent once a week until event date
Actively advertise and post twice a week on social media pages to raise awareness about event details
PROPOSALHeart 2 Art’s main objective is to become a tradition at Broward College that will enrich students learning capabilities as well as enhance their campus life experience by bringing together a diverse group of students through one common thread; the appreciation for art and creativity. Art in itself is known to be therapeutic and Heart 2 Art will afford students this artistic remedy at no financial cost. We have all the components here at Broward College (venue, artists, and Broward College-sponsored clubs). With this proposal we seek to secure the day of Monday, November 14 th , 2016 from 12 PM – 2 PM to host this event in Building 46, Room 152 at Broward College North Campus. We would also request the support of both Student Life and Art Department staff members in advising students as well as administration through weekly email notifications provided by the Heart 2 Art team. Also, we would like to arrange a total of 6 rehearsals in the Coffeehouse (at specified dates and times). Lastly, a sound system for rehearsals – as well as on event date – and aid in funding: marketing materials, refreshments, decorative items and specific giveaways for students, totaling no more than an estimated 950$ in value.
