The Sunshine Coast capital is being

transformed into a city for the 21st Century

with a new CBD being built from the

ground up, showcasing excellence in

urban design, innovation and technology,

with Australia’s first underground waste

system.

Sunshine Coast Airport

The airport expansion project will

enable direct flights to more destinations

across Australia, Asia and the Western

Pacific, enhancing national and global

connections. It will generate jobs and

economic growth, boost tourism, help

export businesses and secure air access

to the Sunshine Coast for generations

to come, contributing $4.1bn to the local

economy from 2020 to 2040.

BusinessSunshine Coast Council is building a

new economy based on a clear 20 year

economic plan which presents multiple

investment opportunities and opens new

avenues for business growth, development

and expansion.

partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and a

large network of organisations and individuals,

whose aim is to connect people on the topic of

digital innovation.

Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance

The Alliance provides advocacy, networking

and professional development, as well

as showcases the region’s creative and

knowledge industries.

GovHack Sunshine Coast This annual event explores the opportunities

for new products and services based on open

data sets (July).

Sunshine Coast Council HackFest

Hackfest is an annual event promoting the

creative use of open data.

Our region has a unique

entrepreneurial ecosystem network

of education programs, business

incubators, coworking spaces,

advocacy, events and meetups, which

has developed organically across the

community.

Startup and Business SupportThe Sunshine Coast region has a collaborative and dynamic startup community

supported by a number of incubators, accelerators, coworking centres and business

mentor providers.

Spark Bureau

This collaborative entrepreneurial

ecosystem and early-stage startup

incubator program supports, assists and

facilitates the growth and development

of startups to achieve quick expansion,

capital, knowledge, global opportunities

and connections with corporate leaders

and investors.

Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast

The region’s longest running business

incubator and accelerator works with top

technology-based businesses to achieve

commercial success. Since 2002, 130+

businesses have graduated from the

program and created 480+ jobs with $30

million+ raised in early stage capital and

government grants.

The Hive Business Space

Opened in early 2017, this facility offers

the fastest fibre internet speeds available

on the Sunshine Coast, unlimited data,

world-leading, fully integrated technology,

professional office services and support.

Annual Innovation Centre Pitch Competition

The Pitch Competition is for growing

startups or more established businesses

who want to raise capital.

Startup Weekend Sunshine Coast

This intense, action-based weekend event

is for people with business ideas looking

for skills, or people with skills looking for a

business idea (April).

Cultivating our future

Mountain Creek State High School Coding and Innovation Hub

Provides professional development

opportunities for teachers and advanced

coding for students from across the

Sunshine Coast.

Study Sunshine Coast

Promotes the region as the ultimate

destination for education.

Mayor’s Telstra Technology Awards

This annual program is for youth in grades

10-12 to showcase innovative ideas, learn

new skills and win prizes (January - May).

CoderDojo Sunshine Coast

For school children, this free coding club

is held on Saturdays during school term.

Startup Weekend Youth Sunshine Coast

This annual weekend event helps school

children to progress their ideas into

business opportunities (August).

Generation Innovation This annual challenge is for 15-25 year

olds wanting to start their own business

(April - June).
