About Us

Eight years ago, we began underwriting large nursing homes in the US. Over the last few years, this product suite has expanded to include a wide variety of large and small healthcare entities across the globe.

Headed by Senior Healthcare Underwriter and Director at CFC, Jonathan Swann, our book for nursing homes and other medical professionals is one of the largest of its type in London. Jonathan has nearly 30 years experience in writing these classes, but don’t worry, he’s backed by an enthusiastic team of considerably younger people.

Our healthcare suite includes four products - A&M, FIT, LTC, and SNF - which cover a wide variety of companies from dieticians and fitness instructors to social workers and nursing facilities. If you have any questions at all about our healthcare suite, email Jonathan Swann at [email protected] or Timothy Boyce at [email protected].

Meet Our Healthcare Team Here’s a little bit more about our healthcare underwriters:

In 2010, our healthcare team was voted “Underwriter of the Year” at the British Insurance Awards. Timothy Boyce, Healthcare Underwriter

Luke Overall, Healthcare UnderwriterLuke recently joined CFC from Hiscox where he concentrated on program business for professionals. A graduate in Business Management, he has achieved his Cert CII and is now working towards his full ACII professional qualification.

Michael Alywin, Junior Underwriter’s AssistantMichael is responsible for maintaining the highly regarded service levels that CFC prides itself on. Without his great attention to detail, our team would not tick as ef-ficiently. He is also currently studying for a degree in English Literature.

Laura Clark, Healthcare UnderwriterWith over 5 years experience in the insurance industry, Laura is a particular specialist in professional liability. She is key member of the team, handling over 200 new busi-ness enquiries each month from various territories.

GO ONLINEOur Online Quote and Bind PlatformThe cost of transacting small business insurance can often make it difficult for brokers to operate affinity business profitably. Customers are also demanding higher levels of service in addition to increased premium savings. To help our partners succeed in this increasingly competitive environment, we’ve de-signed an online platform that places the broker at the heart of the distribution chain. Our flexible systems can easily be deployed for any type of program that fits our underwriting appetite. And what’s more, we can do all this at zero cost and deliver in under a week. With over ten years experience of transacting insurance business online, our latest platform has been designed with flexibility in mind. We can provide a complete, white-labelled end to end solution that is hosted by us. Alternatively, brokers with in-house technical skills can connect to our systems through a simple web services Application Programming Interface (API) meaning seamless integration and total user interface control. Our platform can support quoting, binding, mid-term adjustments, payments, and renewals, making it one of the few truly end to end solutions in the current market. Through our advanced reporting interface you can also access your data at all times and export it in a wide variety of formats, providing you with total control. That’s why we have live systems currently managing all aspects of program business for three of the largest insurance brokers in the world, as well as a number of mid-tier and smaller, niche-market brokers.

If you think CFC’s online quote and bind platform could work for you, please call us on +44 (0) 207 220 8500 or email us at [email protected].

CLAIMSOverviewWe pride ourselves on providing a superior level of customer service and this is never more important than at the time of a claim. Claims is at the core of our service propo-sition and we have an in-house claims team, based in the centre of our underwriting room, to deliver on this service promise.

Our claims team is led by our claims manager, Tim Danbury. Alongside Tim are Jes-sica Wright and Ashley Burdon, both of whom are experienced claims handlers hav-ing both previously worked at Lexington. Our claims team understand how to handle claims from businesses of all sizes, from sole professionals to multi-national chains, and they work closely with the broker and policyholder to provide guidance, regular updates and ultimately a swift settlement.

Tim and his team are the loss notification point for all CFC claims. Once they receive a claim and have reviewed the details they will contact you (or the insured if you prefer), obtain any additional information and walk the broker though the next steps. For professional liability claims the next step usually involves engaging our extensive network of lawyers, adjusters and other service providers who are there to provide a robust defence to the insured against any litigation.

We have excellent relationships with law firms and adjusters around the world, includ-ing several in the US.

Tim Danbury, Claims ManagerTim joined us from the leading UK solicitors, Kennedys, where he had been working as an in-house TPA and prior to that he was a member of Brit’s professional liability claims team.
