(MW @ T Th) 12:20pm – 1:25pm COURSE DESCRIPTON: This course will explore the basic fundamentals of physical fitness. Students will identify, analyze, and seek solutions to contemporary health issues. It involves lecture and laboratory assessment of each student’s physical fitness status resulting in an individualized physical fitness program. REQUIRED MATERIALS:
Text Book- Total Fitness & Wellness 7th edition; Powers, Dodd, Jackson Requirements:
Attend Class and Respect One Another
Class participation, Lab Work, and Fitness Hours (Must exercise and progress to get credit)
Take responsibility and have fun
Submit ALL assignments by the DUE DATE
Take 4 tests, and the Final (Must be taken to get a grade).
COURSE OBJECTIVES / SLO’S Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify and explain 8 components of wellness
Improve level of physical fitness
Recognize the effects of stress on the human body and the importance of stress management.
Demonstrate an understanding that a healthy mind is in a healthy body METHODS OF PRESENTATION:
Lecture-Discussion-Demonstration
Videos, Discussions and Demonstration
Physical activity, participation
Study chapters prior to Lectures, turn notes in for points
ATTENDANCE:
Students will be graded on attendance and participation.
30 total days x 4pts each day= 120pts.
No points are given for late arrivals after Roll Call.
If you are going to be late or absent please CONTACT THE INSTRUCTOR IN A TIMELY MANNER.
Students risk being dropped by the instructor when more than THREE class periods in a row are
missed. It is the student’s final responsibility to drop from a course.
A total of THREE classes will be excused with proper documentation. CLASS RULES:
Be on time!
No make-up exams will be given, if you know ahead of time you are going to miss, we can make accommodations. COMMUNICATION IS KEY!
No use of cell phones or any other electronic gadgets during Lecture and/or Tests.
Only enrolled students are permitted in class, no friends, family, kids, etc.

LAB/Worksheets (10pts per day) 300 PTS

Extra Credit Chapter readings PTS

Assignments: Must be Hand written 3 - 5 pages EACH assignment.

Withdrawals: In the event you choose to withdraw from our course, the burden of following through withdrawal process is the student’s responsibility. You may or may not be dropped for excessive absences (more than 3). However, failure to attend does not guarantee being dropped. Please understand that if you do not officially withdraw, you must be assigned a grade based upon what you have earned. This may be anything from A to F. Please refer to the College Catalogue for more detail. If you believe you MUST withdraw, for any reason, PLEASE consult with me first!

WEIGHT ROOM RULES
1. Only students enrolled in KIN 350-1 and KIN 350-2, Health 2, or Health 6 can use the Weight
Room, KIN. Ath. courses. 2. Proper dress is mandatory - tennis shoes, shorts, sweats and shirts are required. No street
clothes or jeans. No tank tops or cut off shirts. 3. WATER ZONE only. No food or drinks are allowed. 4. Must have a SPOTTER when bench pressing free weights. 5. Limit use of cardiovascular equipment to 30 minutes (unless there are a lot of open
machines). 6. No visitors or onlookers. 7. Books and valuables must be kept in locker or in your car. Your responsibility. 8. No loud talking or horseplay in facility. 9. Bring a towel for yourself and to wipe down equipment. 10. Do not try to fix equipment. Report faulty equipment to the instructor. 11. Always be courteous and patient. 12. Hard work, dedication, attendance, concentration, a strong personal drive and desire will
produce a stronger, fitter and finer you!!!
