Eschweiler Administration BuildingInnovation Campus – park in ABB parking lot

Here’s a great opportunity to see the renovations underway

to bring life back to this long abandoned building designed

by Eschweiler in 1912. The building will serve as the

office for the new Echelon Apartments with support spaces

for the residents and the community including the dramatic

third floor space. Last year’s most popular destination

looks to be a highlight once again.

BIG TRUCKS! Over 160 pieces of equipment from

plows to dump trucks are housed and cared for in this

amazing facility. Also home to Tosa Water and Forestry

Departments, the Public Works building's activities range

from fleet maintenance, truck wash to service shop for

street lights, signals and signs.

St. John’s Lutheran Church7809 Harwood Ave – parking lot

Built with the signature pillars and stone of Romanesque style

in 1929, the church is a gem in the heart of Wauwatosa. Come

admire the gorgeous oak woodwork and numerous stained

glass windows, then stay to hear music played on the historic

Casavan pipe organ. See the school, sanctuary, and fellowship

areas at this church known for offering worship in both

English and Chinese.

Kradwell School & Learning Gardens1220 Dewey Avenue – parking lot and street parking

Don’t miss a rare opportunity to visit this hidden beauty in

Wauwatosa! Originally constructed in 1922 as a Psychiatric

Hospital and lovingly remodeled and expanded in 2005. In

addition to the building’s stunning interior, explore the grounds

featuring a greenhouse, waterfall/pond and natural amphitheater.

Themed gardens include a vegetable, upper prairie, butterfly,

cutting, hosta, sensory, and rain garden!.

Get Stoked! Here’s your chance to visit the new Tosa

Skatepark site. See how the Skatepark’s design mimics

popular street skating elements, while incorporating green

space and enhancing the natural beauty of Hart Park.

Skaters will be on site to explain how the dream of a safe

and fun skatepark designed for skateboarders of all skill

levels is finally becoming a reality.

look at the library's new, state-of-the-art automated

sorting machine. A first hand peek into the adventurous

Library's cherished Story Room.

Kneeland Walker House7406 Hillcrest Drive– parking on surrounding streets

Celebrating its 125th anniversary, a model of Queen Anne

Architecture, the home was built in 1890, and is named

after the only two families to own it. Tour the extensively

remodeled Victorian home, then view the beautiful gardens.

The Wauwatosa Historical Society will be on hand hosting

an ice cream social for a wonderful flavorful experience!

St. Matthews Lutheran Church1615 Wauwatosa Ave – parking lots behind the church

St. Matthew's was organized as a congregation May 26,

1920. Building began at the corner of Wauwatosa Ave and

Milwaukee Ave. While the location remains the same,

many building changes have occurred to meet the needs of

the congregation and community changes. The most recent

renovation added a new commercial grade kitchen to

facilitate the many meal programs.

The 7405 Building on Harwood7405 Harwood Ave – parking available

Originally built to house Wisconsin Bell's Bluemound Exchange,

this beautifully restored 1920 commercial bungalow has had an

interesting and varied life. Currently it is an ideal venue for

private events, but in the past it also served as a restaurant for

Harwood Apts and later housed Wauwatosa's Brietlow

Photography Studio. The rumor is that Liberace once tickled the

ivories of the Grand Piano.

Blanchard St Pumping Station7300 W. Blanchard Street – limited street parking

The Blanchard Street Pumping Station has been busy providing

water to the community since 1897. Originally utilizing a well

system, the station relied on groundwater sources for its first 66

years. In 1963 the utility changed its process to begin delivering

treated water from Lake Michigan. See how the historic

Blanchard Station is still running strong – pumping water to its

customers every day.

Valentine Coffee Roasters 5918 W. Vliet St. – parking lot and street parking

Wake up and smell the coffee! Come see how the pursuit of

the perfect cup of coffee has put Valentine Coffee on the map

as a favorite local roastery. Head roaster, Michael Cothroll,

will conduct tours of the facility and production area, giving

insight on the roasting process as well as on Valentine’s

philosophy on coffee.

M Jacobus Park Pavilion6511 W. Hillside Lane – parking on Honey Creek parkway

Mother Nature is calling! Nestled in the 31 acres of

Jacobus Park, the pavilion sits atop a scenic hill

overlooking the park’s lagoon since 1936. Explore the

lagoon, meet a frog or two, then come in to view the natural

beauty of the area from the knotty pine upper pavilion

room. See why Charles Jacobus, who was instrumental in

early park planning, would be so proud of his namesake.

19th Century Schoolhouse at Kneeland-Walker7406 Hillcrest Dr. – parking on surrounding streets

Located in the Kneeland Walker coach house, a former

hayloft has been transformed into a one room, 19th century

Schoolhouse. Take a step back in history to a time of

reciting lessons from McGuffy readers and practicing

penmanship with dip pens and ink. An excellent

opportunity to learn a bit more about the history of

Wauwatosa!

East High School WPA Mural1532 N. Wauwatosa Ave – street parking or north lot

Walled up by a 1970s remodeling project, the striking

architectural detail and Works Progress Administration-

supported murals sat untouched behind plaster for decades.

In 2002 a major restoration brought back the beauty of the

art deco lobby.

Veteran’s Memorial at City Hall7725 W. North Avenue – ample parking in lot

It took thirteen years of planning and opened in 1957!

Come see the War Memorial dedicated to Wauwatosa ‘s

fallen soldiers. Take note the bronze statue of Old Abe the

War Eagle and the beautiful red stained glass window that

overlooks the Library stairs.

B Lighthouse on Dewey1220 Dewey Avenue – parking lot and street parking

The centerpiece to the Aurora Psychiatric Hospital - one of the

area's largest recovering communities. Constructed in 1920, the

building served as the hospital president's residence until 1990.

Re-opened in December of 2013, with a newly-constructed

meeting space, great views and an outdoor patio. Admire the

beauty of the building's extensive wooden trim and doors, and a

spiral staircase. Not to be missed!

Lowell Damon House2107 N. Wauwatosa Avenue – street parking

Started in 1844 by Oliver Damon, and completed in 1847

by his son Lowell, this house is believed to be the oldest

residence in Wauwatosa. A classic example of a colonial

home, the Milwaukee County Historical Society has

operated it as a museum for decades. Tour includes the

interior of the house and gardens.

Wauwatosa Fire Station #11601 Underwood Ave – street parking & public lots

Always a popular, family-fun site, stop in to visit Fire

Station 51. Come meet Wauwatosa Firefighters and

staff who are looking forward to providing tours for the

community members they proudly serve. You can

check out the firefighter’s living quarters, the station’s

administrative offices, and, of course, make sure to

check out all of the fire trucks!! Bring your camera.

Milwaukee Irish Fest Center1532 N. Wauwatosa Ave – street parking nearby

Today is your lucky day! This stately 1918 Georgian Revival

building, originally built as the Wauwatosa Masonic Lodge,

was sold to the Milwaukee Irish Fest in 1992. The

organization’s loving restoration highlights the buildings

original beauty and the perfect venue to house the John J. Ward

Music Archives –one of the nation’s largest public collections

of Irish Music.

ABB Corporate Office 1425 Discovery Parkway – parking available

Enter the new regional headquarters of ABB, and you will

see that this company is a leader in more than just power and

automation technologies. The ABB building was carefully

crafted with both its employees and the environment in

mind. Tour this innovative building to see ‘light zones’,

flexible meeting spaces, work stations, and office walls that

act as whiteboards. The future is alive and well at ABB!.

Ronald McDonald House & Gardens 8948 W. Watertown Plank Rd – surface parking available

Since 1984, the Ronald McDonald House has provided a

home away from home for families whose children are

seeking treatment at area hospitals. Tour their beautiful

Secret Garden, complete with a playground, patio, and

healing waters feature, then come inside the house to take a

peek at the newly updated first floor common space!

Big Head Brewing Company6204 W. State St – street parking

Things are Hop-ning at Big Head, Wauwatosa’s only

microbrewery! Brewmaster Andrew, co-owner Pat and the

crew will be on hand to give you a peek at the art and science

of their craft. Join in the fun while they explain the process

and equipment used to make their many varieties of year

round and seasonal beers. We can ‘barley’ contain ourselves!

Technology Innovation Center (Muirdale)10473 W. Watertown Plank Road – parking available

Wauwatosa was breaking new ground in medicine in

1915 with the Muirdale Sanatorium, a hospital dedicated

to those suffering from tuberculosis. Muirdale eventually

closed its doors in 1970 as antibiotics and chemotherapy

triumphed over TB. Take a peek into the past with this

fascinating building now serving as the research center.

Wauwatosa’s Neighborhood Association Council. You may
