PARENTAL NEWS BULLETIN
HEADLINE NOTICES Fireworks Safety
Watching fireworks is great fun but as Bonfire
Night and Diwali approach, we would like to
remind parents to take care as children are
more likely to get hurt by fireworks than adults.
The most common injuries are to hands, followed
by the eyes and face.
Over 500 children under 16 are rushed to A&E in the
four weeks surrounding Bonfire Night.
Many more boys than girls are injured by fireworks,
especially boys aged 12 to 15.
Most injuries happen at family bonfire parties or
private displays.

House News House Film Club Celebrates
Black History Month.
Black History month began this week and to
mark the beginning of this celebratory period in
our calendar, the House Team are showing a
series of films during lunchtimes which highlight
the achievements and successes of many
individuals of African and Caribbean
descent. One of these
films is 'Race' which tells
the story of legendary
athlete Jesse Owen's life
and his quest to become
one the greatest track
and field runners in
history. Another film of
great magnitude and
historical purpose is
'Hidden Figures' which
highlights the significant
role that three
African-American women
- Katherine Johnson,
Dorothy Vaughn and
Mary Jackson played
in helping NASA, the
American Space agency
to launch the Astronaut
John Glenn into space.
This operation would go
on to inspire many
generations to come.
If you know of a film you would like to
recommend for Black History Month that is
suitable for our students please email Mr Fatodu
Thank you for your ongoing support.
