Just like making the bed, the standards were unbelievably high. No matter how polished your belt buckle nor how starched your uniform, it was never enough. If inspection was failed, the students had to run fully clothed to the surf zone, and while wet, roll around on the beach until every part of their bodies was covered in sand. This effect was called the “sugar cookie”. Some students struggled with the fact that the instructors were never going to let them succeed. They couldn’t accept that their uniform would never be perfect. Those students didn’t make it through training. “Sometimes no matter how well you prepare, or how well you perform, you still end up as a sugar cookie. It’s just the way life is sometimes.” If we were to describe God physically, at first thought we might want to say impossible. But where the description does exist, rest assured it came from God Himself. We are told God has hands to hold us, lead us, guide us, and protect us (Psalm 139). We are told He has eyes that see us, ears that hear us, and a heart that breaks for us (Psalm 51 and 55). We are told He is the Father, the heavenly father, by who else, but our Lord Jesus. He assures us, “your heavenly Father feeds” (Matthew 6:26); “your heavenly Father knows” (Matthew 6:32); “your heavenly Father gives” (Luke 11:13); “your heavenly Father forgives” (Matthew 6:14). In anticipation for this Sunday's Senior Sunday and the recognition of our graduates Sunday evening, there is no better message to gain in youth than the certainty of the place of God's rule in our hearts. He is the one seated on the throne of heaven, and His deity is matchless. For a time in life when everything is changing, what better message to share and to remind the young heart of your loved one, God is always heaven, and always ready to help His creation. His desire is to feed your needs; His deity knows your deepest need, and He wants to give you according to your need. Above all, God in heaven wants to forgive you of all your sins and forever fellowship with your soul. Regardless of the difficulties we face, or how well we prepare and meet struggle, our God is above all things As we share in this transition of life for our young people, we will also hear a word from our elders on the transition of our building project; the progress and prayerful plans of this next chapter in the life of our church family.
