The Harvard College in Asia Program (HCAP) is a nonprofit student organization at

Harvard University that promotes social, cultural, and intellectual exchange among the

future leaders of the United States and Asia.

The mission of HCAP is to serve as a platform for establishing long-term international and

intercultural collaboration among accomplished students from Harvard and our partner

schools in Bangkok, Beijing, Dubai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, New Delhi,

Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo. We believe that in today’s interconnected world, an

understanding and appreciation of other cultures is essential to any leadership endeavor.

We achieve this mission though a series of exchange conferences held at Harvard

University and at leading universities throughout Asia which focus on topics ranging from

entrepreneurship to social service and academics. These conferences are attended by a

diverse and highly selective group of delegates. Every year, hundreds of students from

Harvard and Asia apply to take part in HCAP.

In 2009, HCAP conferences were held in:

• Cambridge, Massachusetts (Harvard University)

• Dubai, United Arab Emirates (American University in Dubai)

• Hong Kong, China (Hong Kong University)

• Tokyo, Japan (University of Tokyo)

• Singapore (National University of Singapore)

• Seoul, Korea (Ewha Woman’s University)

*Our conference in Mumbai, India (St. Xavier’s College) was cancelled following

the attacks in the fall.HCAP conferences are designed to be academic, and cultural, and social in order to provide

an intense, holistic, and life-changing experience. Students might discuss current events

with government officials, visit a famous museum, take part in a cultural performance or

ceremony, meet prominent professors, and explore the American or Asian nightlife—all in a

single day!

HCAP Conferences feature a number of prominent speakers. Past speakers at HCAP

conferences have included the Prime Minster of Malaysia, Minister of Higher Education of

Malaysia, Mayor of Taipei, Secretary General of Taiwan, President of the National

University of Singapore, as well as many other notable leaders in academia and business.

In February 2009, 60 top university students from across the Asian continent attended the

Harvard (Cambridge) Conference. In March 2009, over 100 Harvard students five

simultaneous HCAP conferences at the partner schools listed above.

In addition to these symposia abroad, HCAP now coordinates a service trip for

Harvard students in China, where Harvard students spend their week teaching

1 Lead Sponsor vs. Official Delegation Sponsor: An Official Delegation Sponsor chooses one conference to sponsor (Beijing, Taipei,

etc.). They are prominently recognized as such during all events, in all literature, and in all press coverage for that conference. A Lead Sponsor would receive these benefits for all conferences. Both levels of sponsorship also receive the other sponsorship benefits: logo

placement on t-shirt, website, letterhead, etc.

** All other sponsorship amounts are negotiable **
