All of us should also always live by our school’s Christian values:

Reverence Fellowship (Koinonia) Friendship Forgiveness Endurance

The lower school, under the direction of Ms Meurice and Mr Brown, presented their version of the Nativity of Jesus. There was excited singing and movement and some fantastic costumes. Well done to all Key Stage 1 staff for their enthusiasm and hard work!

THE RAINBOW FISH is a book written by Marcus

Pfister. The story teaches us about the value of being an

individual – about being ourselves.

Mrs Elmes and Rainbow Class have been working on a project about THE RAINBOW FISH. These are just a few examples of their work.

RAINBOW have also been learning about ANIMALS. In music, they have listened to AQUARIUM from “The Carnival of the Animals”. They have also written about animals. This lovely piece of work is by Melissa.

Mr Brown has also

been teaching Year 1

all about CASTLES.

They visited

BODIUM CASTLE

and have also made a

display showing their

writing of

ACROSTIC POEMS.

Mrs Elmes and Reception Class have

been making their own

ACHIEVEMENT TREE.

Mr Brown and Year 1 have been reflecting

on our SCHOOL VALUES.

Year 1 have also been learning how to ask

a question and use a question mark.

In December, on a normal winter day, I walked to school with my friends. When the scorching sun appeared from the ground I saw a peculiar shadow race across the sun.

At first I was confused and puzzled and then another emotion took over. I felt I could be rich. The first UFO ever found! It was like a massive mother ship covering the sky. With a blink of an eye lots more strange drones appeared. All of a sudden a large amount of aliens came coming. With all the time we had left my friends and I made a mischievous plan to distract the alien. We immediately went to hide in a bush while they curiously looked.

Thankfully, in the end they gave up and we were free to live our life. It was a terrifying experience but secretly I loved it.

One raw, crisp day I was wrapped up in my thick woolly coat with my sausage roll in the playground. It was just a matter of time before… DA! DA! An alien mother ship appeared out of nowhere. It just appeared towering over the school. It landed gracefully without destroying one little bit of grass. The hatch opened and out shot a little baby alien. The baby alien was fuzzy and it had polka dots and 3 cute wide eyes. It was beautiful, but then the aliens came out spears guns and more. They triggered their guns through the kyber crystal spears. Explosions everywhere. BOOSH! I was knocked out, unconscious but the last thing I heard was the aliens’ victory cry “4gH@96NO7” they chanted. I couldn’t understand them. I woke up feeling really apprehensive, I found myself being scarred. I finally got out the case and saw out the window the Earth getting smaller and smaller.

BACK IN TIME “I am so excited Dad!” I said. “Yes I’m sure you are but eat up your shreddies because it is going to be a long day,” said Dad. After that I ran upstairs to brush my teeth. “Finally we’re here!” I said to Dad. “Yes finally, but remember Niamh you’ve got to behave!” bellowed Dad. “Yes, yes I will!” I said, a little facetiously. We went up to his office. My dad went off to his desk to work. Just then I saw a weird looking machine in the corner of my eye. As slowly as possible, I made my way over to the very odd looking machine. I was feeling very guilty and quite queasy. Why did I feel this way? But my suspicion had got the better of me. I walked over to the machine and it was very strange. My dad was saying something about a machine that he had spent ages on. He said he wasn’t finished it though. I was standing right in front of the immensely big machine. It was gold with a shimmering arial on top. I was shaking as I courageously stepped into the machine. On the wall was an old fashion dial. Beside the dial was a glamourous, red ruby button on the wall… Niamh King

We continue to mark the centenary of World War One (1914-1918). This year, the whole school marked the Armistice that ended the war at 11 o’clock on November 11th with 2 minutes of total silence in the school hall. It was a very moving experience and showed one of our school values – reverence.

Abby [Y2] had the honour to

respectfully lay the school’s

poppy wreath on the

Hawkhurst War Memorial.

Gabriel H [Y4] raised £170.00 for the Poppy Appeal by completing an extreme assault course. Well done, Gabriel!

Katy R [Y3] was also involved in the Poppy Appeal and helped to raise £73.25.

THE TALE OF THE PARROT

There once was a parrot that was extremely happy and dull. One day he came across a gingerbread man that was very multi-coloured, but the parrot thought that being multi-coloured was very dull and that being dull was much much better than being multi-coloured. So he asked, “Isn’t it dull being multi-coloured?” “No it isn’t!” the gingerbread man shouted rudely. “OK, bye!” the parrot said in a very happy and rude way so they went in opposite directions. The next day the parrot came across the same multi-coloured gingerbread man and the gingerbread man said kindly, “Do you want some cider?”

“Yes please. Ten cans please,” said the

Parrot firmly. “Ten cans coming up!” the gingerbread man said so the parrot took the cider. That night the parrot drank all the cider and got drunk – very drunk, and because he was drunk he flew over to a far, far away place. When he got there he perched on top of a tree that was next to a multi-coloured stream then suddenly SPLASH! He had lost his grip on the perch and fell into the stream. He flew out not drunk and multi-coloured and after that all the parrots born were multi-coloured.

WHY DID THE MOUSE HAVE A LONG TAIL?

Once there was a mouse that wondered why he had a long tail. One day he went to the shop to buy his son some party clothes for party. Then a man came and said what a long tail you have. If you go to Micetown they will crown you the king of the longest tail ever. So he walked for days and days then he fell into a pond SPLASH! So he swam to the far end and when he got there he was crowned the king of the longest tail ever and he lived his life happily. So that’s the story of why the mouse has a long tail because he was the king of the longest tail ever.

GUY FAWKES

Did you know Guy Fawkes was born on 13th April 1570? You wouldn’t believe it, but he was christened on the 16th of April 1571. An interesting fact is that his dad died when he was eight years old. Guy was five when he went to school. He lived in Stone Gate in York. He became a Catholic when his dad died because his step dad was a Catholic. He tried to kill King James with 36 barrels of gunpowder but he failed. He was tortured for two days. Guy’s head was chopped off and stuck on a pole to warn people!
