View this email in your browser May 21st, 2020 Dear Bronte Community, A big thank you to all of our parents who have responded to the online survey that was sent out last week. We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback and are proud to know our community feels so strongly about our response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. More than 95% of our survey responses were positive and supported our decisions to protect our students and staff. In an effort to improve and understand our community, parents who have expressed concern in regard to their special circumstances will be contacted directly if they have not been already. Thank you again to everyone who participated, we truly appreciate your feedback! We want to share with you some kind words from our parents! There is just over one week left of the Online Learning Program until our last day on May 29, 2020! Friendly reminder for students and parents that final assessments are due June 12, 2020 by 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Be sure to check the current time difference online here . HAVE YOU REGISTERED FOR OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS? This year, to accommodate students who wish to stay over summer break, we are offering 3 types of programs for students: 1. Summer School 2. Summer Workshops 3. Summer Residence Activities All students, either living on campus or who have gone home, now have the option to continue their studies over summer break via the Online Learning Program. If you are interested in enrolling in one of the below summer school courses, please contact your Guidance Counsellor. If you do not see a summer school course you would like to enroll in, please complete and submit the Additional Summer School Course form. She is a very talented artist who spends her time drawing and has a sketchbook full of amazing watercolour paintings! Aleksandra joined our student art club, chess club and regularly participates in the residence paint nights. She also enjoys reading historical mystery and crime novels and has recently started learning how to longboard. In university, Aleksandra is planning to study art or architecture. Thank you, Aleksandra, for your passion and creativity! UPDATES There continues to be zero cases of COVID- 19 and zero suspected cases at Bronte College The Ontario Government has announced publicly funded schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. For more information, please refer here. REMINDERS Students returning for the Fall term must be physically in attendance at Bronte College to complete credit courses We are accepting applications for the IB DP until May 31, 2020. Current students interested in either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme or Pre-IB Programme should contact their Guidance Counsellor or the IB Coordinator, Ms Raj Deol at [email protected]. STUDENT RESIDENCE LIFE This weekend’s residence activities were full of surprises! We had an impromptu photoshoot with students and they had so much fun during supervised time outside! The Talk Time event held on Saturday was also a hit! Our residence team took time to understand student’s feelings on the COVID-19 situation and have discussions about real-life problems our students may be facing. On Sunday our residence students played a quick round of " Headbanz" together! A SHOUT OUT TO Jennifer Lynn Jennifer is the School Nurse at Bronte College. During these difficult times, she has played a critical role taking care of students’ well-being, both physically and mentally. In addition to her regular responsibilities, Jennifer has been the main person on campus preparing physical distancing measures, assisting with the residence team, performing workplace inspections and implementing procedures to keep our staff and students safe. Jennifer is very cooperative, works in harmony with others and contributes to the positive environment on campus. Thank you, Jennifer for your dedication to protecting our community, you are a valued member at Bronte College! We have been doing an outstanding job at keeping our campus a healthy and safe space.
