GOAL!Volume 43, Issue 2June 2009

With heartfelt praise to God and gratefulness to all who have generously supported us over this past year, we celebrate the matching of a $125,000 donation challenge. In August of 2008,

Life Outreach International gave Living Faith $125,000 and a pledge to match an additional $125,000 in new donations above our average giving. By the end of February, we had matched $86,800, leaving us $38,800 left to match. In March, several thousand matching dol-lars came in. Then in April, the floodgates of heaven opened with the arrival of $15,000 in brand new Dell computers and dona-tions of more than $53,000 from a single Vision Banquet. In addition, several extra thousand matching dollars also came in during April.

We continue to stand in awe of the Lord and His faithful provision during this time of global recession. 30 Volunteers Attend Renovation Work Weekend

The weekend of May 29-31 proved to be a time of progress for the Living Faith campus as thirty volunteers

from Living Stones Church in Red Deer, Alberta came to offer their expertise and services.

Men from various trades gave of their time and energy to assist in the completion of several renovation projects around our college campus. These men diligently put their hands to a multiple number of different tasks such as: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, laying concrete, cabinetry, painting and grounds maintenance.

The event ended with a worship service, teaching from Paul Reich and a campfire. The renovation work weekend turned out to be a combination of hard work and spiritual

reflection that resulted in an event appreciated by all those involved.

When a team of individuals dare to dream the impossible and are willing to put their faith

in God into action, anything is possible. I have come to learn through Living Faith that impossibility is nothing more than our perspective on a situation - it is never God’s reality.

The 2009 Spring Tour was presented with a variety of obstacles to overcome, a number of “ would-be impossibles”, yet we were completely overwhelmed by God’s faithfulness in every detail of this journey. Impending deadlines, financial constraints, and physical shortages in man power and resources all seemed to loom over us as we prepared for this event. Yet, in the end we could all look back and see that God’s faithfulness was the key component to the execution of such a great ministry opportunity.

When you reach out to a child, you touch the heart of the parent. When you reach the parent, you impact a family, and when you impact a family you have the potential to influence a community. During the course of the tour, the student teams had the privilege of reaching out to children in various communities, seeing 38 first time decisions for Christ and 55 recommitments in the lives of children aged 4 to 18! There were also many children and a good number of adults that responded by a show of hands but never came forward to the altar. One married couple in particular raised their hands in response to the altar call held at an inter-church presentation in Rocky Mountain House. Though they didn’t come forward, they arranged a personal meeting with a local pastor to receive counsel and teaching regarding the decision they had just made. God is so good!

Many Children and Youth Make Decisions for Christ Through Evangelistic Production

Classroom Renovations: We are remodelling the old A.C.E. schoolroom of the girl’s dorm building to be better suited for college use. The process has begun, yet minor electrical and plumbing work still remain. As well, dry-walling, painting, and flooring need to be completed. Cabinets have been donated and need to be refinished and installed.

Bridge Replacement: Our bridges have weathered many years and are ready for upgrading. We have received four highboy flatbed trailers that will be used to replace our bridges. We are currently in the process of preparing them. Axles, dollie-jacks, and wiring will be removed. Then they need to be sandblasted and painted. We are planning to begin the groundwork on the first bridge next spring.

Log Cabins: We have been blessed to receive the donation of two log cabin packages. The outside structures are currently assembled with the interiors partially framed up. We are planning to lift the cabins and pour concrete footings under them. Wiring, plumbing, and dry-walling will occur shortly after. They will then need to have cabinets and flooring installed, followed by finishing work to improve our staff housing.

If you would like more information or have a desire to help with any of these projects please contact us by phone or email!

Russell and Sharleen

Thornberry have a long standing history with Living Faith, having come to Christ through

this ministry in the early 1980’s and then later serving here in various capacities. They moved to the US in 1990, where Russ continued to work as Editor & Chief of Buckmasters Publications, North America’s leading deer hunting magazine. Having recently retired from Buckmasters, God has provided for them to go into full-time ministry. In addition to conducting men’s retreats, ladies’ retreats, and couples’ retreats throughout the US and Canada, they will be giving six months of each year in ministry at Living Faith to help us with a variety of annual events, college promotion, video production, and much more. Welcome back Russ and Sharleen!

As the found-ers and

leaders of the Living Faith Evangelistic Association for 36 years, Pastor Cliff

and Donna Stalwick are not strang-ers to our constituents. Having just returned from nearly a year of min-istry at Foundation for His Ministry in Vicente Guerrero, Mexico, Pastor Stalwick will be stepping back into his role as Chancellor. Together, Cliff and Donna will be connecting with alumni and churches, leading mis-sion’s teams, doing some teaching and speaking, and in their spare time continuing to enjoy their retirement. Welcome back, it’s great to have you home!

So much has happened in the the college last year with regard to personnel, programs,

vision, and infra-structure that it would take an entire newsletter to communicate all of it. We are excited about the advancements that are helping to motivate and propel an increasing enrollment.

At the top of the list would be the launching of our full four-year B.Th. program starting this fall. Not surprisingly, we have students who were slated to graduate with the former 3 1/2 year format requesting that they be allowed to do the full four years. Talk about a dream come true! Second only to this in significance is the fact that we are now offering two tracks in the B.Th. program: one in pastoral ministries focusing on serving the local church, and the other with a theology emphasis for those anticipating further studies and a teaching ministry.

Although we are still a couple of years away from being able to offer specific majors, we are taking steps to move in that direction with new course offerings in drama, music and other worship and creative arts. With the addition of Chuck Gasper to our staff and faculty, we now have a rallying point for the devlopment of those ministries. With Keven Funk returning to full time teaching after working on his Master’s Degree last year, we are in a strong position for the coming year. New courses are continually being developed to enhance and strengthen our programs. The request from the FCA to develop modular and video distant learning courses for training in the local church is a welcomed partnership we have accepted.

Our library has gone through an “extreme make-over”, both in terms of renovations to the facilities, and in terms of the sheer volume of books. Over this past year, we have been given more than three thousand good books from several personal ministerial libraries, and we are busy preparing them all for fall term.

One of the best links between Bible College preparation and the real world of ministry is our internship program. We currently have over half a dozen students involved in their internships both here and in other ministries, including missions settings. As our full four-year program takes off, we will have more quality interns to offer to churches for ministry and ministerial on-the-job training.

With the enrollment increases both now and projected for the future, our plans for Living Faith Bible College are both active and proactive in preparing the next generation of Christian leaders. Our unique emphasis on solid biblical and theological training, combined with the reality of the Holy Spirit, coupled with character development and practical ministry training will ensure that our graduates are capable torch-bearers in their generation of service for our matchless Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Alumni News We Have Reached Our Donation Goal!(Continued From Page 1)

Just recently, we received a donation of three brand new counter height tables and twelve matching counter height chairs for the new coffee lounge that is part of the classroom and library renovations slated to be finished by fall. We also see God’s provision through a full roster of on campus ministry events and facility rentals in the months of June, July, and August. Moreover, we are projecting an increase in college student enrollment for the fall.

Thank you to everyone who has stood with us this past year. Your prayers, involvement, and financial support have made a difference in the lives of many. You have been a channel of God’s blessing to this ministry and to Him we reserve our praise. To borrow the lines of a well-known hymn, “To God be the glory, great things He has done!”
