Practice Exam Question – Type D Explain how a religious upbringing might

make people turn to God.• To get full marks you must make fully 3

explained points. To do this use P.E.E. For example:– (Point) When a person is young they will tend

to believe what their parents say. – (Explanation) This is because parents are in

position of power. They control what their children do and children will learn by copying their parents.

– (Example) For example if parents tell their children that God exists and can help them they will grow up to believe it.

Question – other things you could write about

• Gain beliefs from their community.• Beliefs form an important part of their

identity so parents will naturally want to pass on their values to their children.

• A Christian family will want to preserve God for future generations – continue the faith.

• Parents will pass on their own habits and customs to their children – such as attending church and praying.

• The family may discuss their response to ethical problems like abortion or natural disasters.

Reasons for Believing in God: • Upbringing:

– Describe features of a Christian up-bringing?

– How can this lead to believing in God?

– What problems might it raise?     Right & Wrong Most humans try to lead a good life and do what is right and produce happiness for themselves and their families.  God must exist – a) to give people guidance in leading a good life and b) to guarantee good people a place in heaven after they die. If God did not exist their struggle would have been in vain.

What guidance does God give people?

Is the necessity of reward a good argument for God’s existence?

Girls are better than boys, or do I mean, boys are better than girls?

Not sure, you

work it out!!!

Page 20: Hattise Acosting bugg inn rip bitmaps classy unhood rays rep reclaims union sum croon veins singed

CLASS DEBATE “Boys are better than Girls.” Do you agree? Give reasons for your opinion,

showing that you have considered another point of view.

The class will be split into two sections. The boys will argue against the statement and the girls will argue in favour of the statement.

Yes that makes it harder but it allows you to understand that to win an argument you need to also offer the alternative view in a balanced fashion.

In the debate one person has to stand up from each side to offer an argument a person from the other side has to stand up to counter argue the point. You need to refer to the statement. Each argument offered will help your side get a point.
